Favorite Temperature

My favorite temperature is about 365-370F. That way I get the three main cannabinoids: THC, CBD and CBN without all the nasty carcinogens and irritants that are extracted with the higher temperatures. The effects I get is a very clear headed, motivational high that makes me unusually productive. It is definitely a very managable, non-impairing bake. The THC works as a antidepressant, while the other two tend to give me motivational effects, and help me think more clearly, than say if I were to smoke instead of vape. Hard to say which cannabinoid causes the munchies (I'm guessing THC), but it's definitely one of the three above, as I get them every time, which is of course positive. The higher temperatures seem to give me more side effects than they do benefits, so I rarely ever find myself going above 400F. :2c:

So I ask you, FC; what is your favorite vape temp and why? What're the effects you tend to experience at that temperature? Are the effects positive? Do you notice any negatives? Explain please.

I believe that temperature has minimal impact on the effects as long as it's high enough to vaporize the essential cannabinoids. Strain would have more to do with the effects you're feeling. A bright Sativa would be uplifting and energetic whereas a strong Indica would induce couch-lock, lethargy and pain relief.

Well, my HerbalAire cant go above 400F so I guess I don't go there. But I like to start between 350F-375F and work up to 400F. Another thing I like to do is hit the HA while it is heating up. Its fun to sample the terpenes as they vape off. Tasty!

I like somewhere near 200C. For that I use LB with sloooow draws or EQ with 225 preheatinging and 210 for vaping. I want to get THC and CBD, and not get high enough to taste a bit smokey.

About 375 to 380, though once I'm in the general ballpark temperature-wise the effects are nothing but positive. As long as nothing is burning I'll aim a little higher at times.

I vape at a 180-200 in my eq. I usually vape at 200 because I forget to turn it down from the last bowl. the eq is pretty lenient on temp though.

I like the temperature the log vapes reach, whatever that is. I find them non-irritating to my airways. Higher temps do seem to produce a more f-ed up state (and seem slightly better for pain relief or before bed), but they also release irritants which cause coughing for me. I've come to prefer the more alert state afforded by the lower temps.

Well not sure how accurate the temp gauge is but I tend to start at about 127/132c and work up to 180c as the herb depletes.

Which vape do you own?

On my No2 digital I like to start at 325f, then 355f, then 385f, and then 400f if I'm not feeling it yet... :ko:

It's a custom modified VP100 utilizing an old zalman heatpipe hard drive cooler to stabilize the temp. So far it's really worked a treat. Once I get an IR-thermometer il check it for sure.

Got MFLB in post can't wait to try that when it arrives. I think thats fixed at 180c....

The MFLB is far from a fixed-temp vape. Quoted directly from the MFLB Vaporpedia entry:
The temperature in the Box is far from constant, however. It changes continually depending on the rate of draw, over the range of about 260 on the low end to about (when drawing too fast) to about 450F (232C) when not drawing at all (and leaving it on for minutes at a time). Therefore, what Magic-Flight tries to do is to have the temp most easily stabilize at between 370F (188C) and 400F (204C) for a reasonable rate of draw.

hereatlast,
Indeed, you can use the MFLB to vape super low temp stuff like hops, and some people use oily concentrates in a far corner of the device, reporting it gets hot enough to vape them to completion. You can probably get above 450 with incredibly slow breath rate and a juicy battery or the PA.

So so you not rate the MFLB? I think its too late to cancel. I had read good things...

I'm not sure I understand your question. The MFLB is a great vape (IMO), I don't think anything CDS or I said gave the impression that the MFLB isn't a good vape. Read up on the MFLB Vaporpedia, its a worthy read.

i tend to hit mine very slow and quite hot after an initial 2-3 low temp hits, i go very close to combustion but stay away from igniting the herb. i then eat it. so i guess my favorite temp is the one where i get it all out but do not get fire.

When I use my Extreme, I usually start at 160C and step it up 10 degrees at a time to 190C. I prefer low temperature, thinner but tastier vapour.

I don't know what temperature my LBs run at, but I suspect that the temperature I'm using is somewhere near 190C, judging by the appearance of the ABV. I set my PA a notch below 50%, which on my LB makes the light about as bright as a battery does after 3-4 hits. I hit the button, count 5, kiss the LB native, and wait for vapour. I either puff a gently a couple of times or inhale slowly through the nose. The temperature is so low that I can keep the PA button pressed for a long time without combusting, and if I inhale at all I stop vapour production. I get extremely tasty hits this way, and I get quite a few of them out of a trench. (I should do another count now that I'm using the PA.)

I have to agree I much prefer the primo vape you get at low temps. Sometimes it can be a little slow at first but once it warms through you get a particularly uplifting blast that does not even feel warm on throat. I actually find once I start to go above 180c and the herb browns off it actually makes me come down a bit and the stone changes.

382F (195C) - this is the heater temperature. the herb is about 30F lower and rises to the heater temp during inhale and then drops back.

i set the temp about 5F below where the vapor is so dry/harsh it makes me cough. Looking at the remaining material (100x) it appears virtually all the trichomes are melted and gone.

i find THC relieves the stress that comes from keeping the wheels turning, and allows inspiration to strike. And i just feel better. Functional euphoria.

I love vapour at all temps, but never finish a bowl until my herbs are as dark as I can get 'm without burning them. I think it depends mostly on the strains what temperature you need for that.

I'm a big hit and bong type of guy. Use my EQ with a Beaker bottom black/gold bowler label sheldon black. Works beautifully at 419F for thick, milky hits that doesnt even brown the herb to medium dark. even after a whole mess of hits. I can get like 6-10 hits (depending on how far I feel like going) on a bowl at this temp vapo-bonging and the herb comes out a medium-brown, not much darkness.

I also the other night tried dropping a nice small dab of some homemade bho, prolly .05 or less, on top of a small layer of herb, then placed a larger layer of herb on top of that in the cyclone bowl. I Put the EQ up to about 440ish maybe 450 and let it pre-heat for a bit with the herb and concentrate in there. Got probably 10-15 rips out of it before the thing was finished and the concentrate had left no residue on the screen and didnt drop into the heater. Worked out really well, was really torn up.

There has to more to the saying 420 than just the date or time to blitz. Perhaps its a 3-way paradigm of sorts to also represent the optimum temperature of optimum actives extraction in Fahrenheit as well.

^^ ya ya, I know.... I've kind of hit and have a good vape going on, but it made me ponder considering the coincidental above mentioned study.

Works for me..... and I'm going with that :D

I vape herb at 370F till the vapor starts getting light then I up it to 400F and finish it off there. Any higher and it starts to taste horrible IMO.

I vape puck hash at 446F that I have cut up with a razor blade into thin slices.
