what would you say is your favorite single song ever? this is a really hard call....

I know it is not the original, but I love this version.

this song has been done a number of times and it is almost always good.

No hesitation on my part. The whole song is about 17 minutes long. Mostly tribal chanting. A live version played at stonehenge clocks in around 21:35 called 'Sound....shouldn't....improvise'. A rambling meandering song that either highlights free form jazz playing ability or stoned debauchery :)

This piece always reminded me of driving fast down a leafy autumnal road with the top down on a sunny day. The song has a locomotion to it: traveling on. To me, this screams "road trip". Great instrumental

That song has some of the strangest lyrics. I mangle it with gusto on my guitar.

Procol Harum played their first show and, I believe, recorded their first album with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra... I'm from Edmonton! My bass teacher joined the symphony just after that recording. I feel connected in 3 degrees :lol:

lol. I know, but for some odd reason, it's those lyrics that really strike a chord with me. I have no idea why. The words just seem to play off of each other really nice.

It was one of the main songs on "the big chill" soundtrack which I still think is one of the best movie soundtracks of all time. that is a different thread. :)

One great overlooked classic is the "sequel" to "Hey There Little Miss Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs , "The Hair On My Chinny-Chin Chin."

That Pink Floyd tune gave me the chills too. I have every Pink Floyd vinyl album, cassette, and CD made. There is so much other stuff that trying to pick one is near impossible. Just some that I am partial to:
Jethro Tull - Locomotive Breath & Aqualung, Queen - Fat Bottom Girls, Warren Zevon- Werewolves of London ("he'll rip your lungs out Jim") , just about anything from AC/DC and Tom Waits. I could go on but you get the point, it's hard to pick just one.
