EVO or Herbalizer

Hello, I have been a lurker on this forum for some time and recently got into vaping about 2 months ago after years of combusting. My first vape I picked up for myself was a Solo and i love the unit. I don't wake up with that tired feeling anymore like i used to when i smoked.

I have been looking to pick up a new table top vape for at home and these two units have really caught my eye. Reading over the forum threads of each respective vape I am unsure which one i should chose.

I really like the idea of the evo as it is all glass and i would plan on purchasing it with a showercap hydrotube. As it is I don't use glass bongs when i vape with my solo and i absolutely love the taste the solo gives. My only apprehension with this unit is it seems the production quality of these vapes are a little different for each person who gets one in the forum thread as the temps seems to differ on different settings on the dial between different vapes. Also reading about the makeup of the unit and the use of an all glass chamber and bamboo seems like the unit is more susceptible to breakage.

The herbalizer seems like a great investment for a product that would last me a long time. The only thing holding me back on that one is the price. The $750 is a very high price. Ive read the taste with the herbalizer is great as well and the heat up times are fantastic. I couldn't really find anything really negative at all about the herbalizer in the thread

Is there anyone here that has tried both units? I would spend the extra $150 for the herbalizer, but I would like to see if anyone has tried both of these to chime in on their thoughts.

Thank you.

Hi, I'm going to start of by saying that i haven't used an evo, but i have used the old style clouds and from what i hear the eve is even more kickass that the cloud+, and i absolutely love my cloud, even if it is "fake cloud". I also have tried the herbalizer at the test drive event for it, i was impressed with the device, imo the main feature it offers is the capability of precise temperature control, and using a whip. IF your looking for something like that i would go with the herbalizer, however if i was looking for knock me on my ass clouds, then i would get an evo.
just my :2c:

I will be honest, I don't know if giant clouds are what I'm looking for as the solo gets me to a very high point on a level 4. The clouds at 4 can be decent, nothing like at 7, but i don't need huge clouds to get to my happy point. ;)

I own both units. I tested bowls of equal amounts to compare the units, and thus far I find the Herbalizer gets me noticeably higher than the EVO off the same amount of herb.

I've had my Herbalizer since Christmas and my EVO since the following week. I can count the number of sessions I've used the EVO on one hand. That should tell you all you need to know :). And this is coming from someone who used the VXC as my daily driver for nearly 2 years.

@Slightly Medicated is another former Cloud user and current Herbalizer owner who shares my sentiments.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I see you have tried out a number of different vapes. Do you feel the cost of the herbalizer is worth the money then?

When I started vaping the state of the art choice was the SSV vs. the Extreme and it was a $300 choice! Which state of the art ceramic element vape did you want? We have come a long way, as the EVO vs. Herbalizer comparison makes those other units show their age.

That earlier choice was a win-win no matter which way I went, and I eventually got them both. I suspect this comparison will be similar, with the user being a winner no matter which way they go...and someday I will have both!

Not really apple to oranges IMO because the Herbalizer can so easily be attached to a water tool. All it takes is a little bit of tubing (I use SSV tubing) and a GonG adapter.

I love the versatility of the Herbalizer. It's like having 3 vapes in one - bag, whip, through glass. I often take one or two big rips through glass to get myself medicated quickly, and then I'll fill a bag with whatever remains so I can slowly sip it over the next hour or so to keep my medicated state level.

One thing I have found that the EVO comes in handy for is medicating when I need to keep my mind completely intact. With the Herbalizer, I get VERY high. Now, I'm not just talking "medicated" here. I mean it gets me stupid, high school high. The EVO doesn't. It medicates my symptoms without sending my mind soaring. The Herbalizer can provide the same effect, but only if I let the fan cook off some of the actives below 365F first. This tells me that the conduction aspect of the ELB causes the EVO to lose some low temp actives before the first hit. I'm a high temp user though, so perhaps on a lower temperature the EVO doesn't cause the same loss. But I haven't tried it yet to find out because it wouldn't help my symptoms.

The EVO is great, but the Herbalizer is phenomenal.

How about taste purity? I'm guessing the Cloud would win, especially the first hit although what you mention regarding getting higher makes me think it is possible that more terpenes are extracted in the HZ vs the EVO.

That's a tough call and it honestly may depend on what temperature you prefer to use. Both have great flavor. At my vaping temps (445F for the Herbalizer and 3'oclock for the EVO), I give the edge to the Herbalizer. The high heat slightly affects the flavor with the EVO. The best way I can describe it is this: through the Herbalizer I taste only flower, while through the EVO I taste flower and heat. I can't make a comparison of low temp flavor though since I haven't really messed with that. But I think if you remove the extra heat (i.e. vape at low temp) then the EVO may provide a tastier hit given its higher ratio of vapor to air.

Then you don't need an ultra expensive model. Spending more money may get you more refinement, more versatility, bigger hits, etc., but you can get the same vapor with a much cheaper model.

Seems like it, yes. But it's a new brand/model so only time will tell concerning long term reliability. I've gone the whole route on the VapeXhale experience, from the 1st beta testing units to a production EVO. It's all I need or want in a big hitter, but the reliability road has been bumpy, with my beta unit dying a quick death. Even though I have an older Cloud and currrent EVO- both working fine- others haven't been as lucky. Unless you've got money to burn I would advise against spending big bucks on a brand new model if you're satisfied with the hits you get from a Solo. I can get the same amount and quality of vapor with a $150 Vapolution as with any vape on the market. It just takes a little more of a learning curve and attention to the hits, vs. the high end models. More money gets you ease of use and features, not more or better vapor. You can always upgrade later on, once you're sure reliability has been firmly established.

While this is true to an extent, I have to say that the Herbalizer does indeed provide better vapor than any other vape I've used. If I'm able to take the EVO and Herbalizer side by side, all things considered equal, and get more medicated with less throat irritation from the Herbalizer then the vapor it produces is IMO better than the vapor I'm getting from the EVO. The Herbalizer undoubtedly provides a fuller effect than any other vaporizer I've used. Perhaps most vaporizers are capable of producing equal vapor, but the Herbalizer isn't most vaporizers.

And if @Mennovh is debating between these two high-priced vapes, then I assume cost isn't a concern. He simply wants the best.

I'm not trying to come off as an Herbalizer fanboy. I'm just an mmj patient who found a device that has improved my overall quality of life and I like to share this finding with others who may benefit. :)

green2brown, this is crazy! You have made me reconsider and look into the Herbalizer as my go to flagship vape. I have been quite snobbish with my Cloud (rip) but am going to reconsider silicone whips due to the precision temperature control of the Herbie as well as your comments.

I really think you'll be pleased. The only negative to the Herbalizer is that fans make noise. But if that doesn't bother you, then go for it because its performance is unparalleled. I know the Herbalizer thread is loaded with members' opinions similar to mine :)

Also, just to add to the positives of the Herbalizer, I love how simple it is to use hash and concentrates. No running oils and no sticky messes. And the hits are seemingly endless.

Vapor is vapor. There can't be any real difference from one model to another, other than how it's delivered, how well the chosen vaping temp is maintained, etc. What you describe is efficiency in delivering the vapor, not producing better vapor. And you can't do an apples to apples comparison if one vape is using water filtration and the other isn't. That would directly relate to efficiency.

All I care about is the vapor that enters my lungs, and the variables you describe all affect the quality of the vapor inhaled. Two vapes may be equally efficient, that is they extract the same amount of actives, but if vape X has conductive aspects that cause a waste of some lower temp actives while vape Y does not have those conductive aspects and does not waste any of the lower temp actives, then the vapor delivered by vape Y will be better than the vapor delivered by vape X.

Also, I ran both the EVO and Herbalizer through my Mobius 65b when comparing the two, hence why I stated "all things considered equal."

Well the main reason I am buying a second vape for at home is the solo I bought had the rapidly blinking blue led problem and wouldnt turn on anymore after just 45 days or so. I already sent it back to Puff it up for a replacement. I want to get a second vape incase this happens again. I have tried smoking for the last few days and it really sucks to me now lol.

Ive been coughing so bad after not smoking for such a long while. I also dont feel like i get as high either.

Thank you for all the feedback everyone. I know the herbalizer hasn't been out for very long at all so it is hard to say how reliable it is. But i do like the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty with a 5 year half off replacement policy. The only issue with that is will the company survive long enough to back up that guarantee. I just wanted to see what those who have used both have to say. $750 is a decent chunk of change for me, but I am willing to pay it if its as good as the reviews indicate.
