I often took acid with friends up there in the mid-late '60s. Beautiful area. Great memories, albeit somewhat fuzzy.
We used to throw an annual Easter party at my house. 30 to 40 friends showed up every year. Barbecued chicken. Lots of music. The morning before, we'd get a hole bunch of those hollow plastic easter eggs that would come apart in halves. We'd open them up and put in some window pane or blotter acid, caps of mescaline, etc.....and hide them outside within a few hundred feet from the house. After the barbecue, we had the easter egg hunt. 30 to 40 stoned friends scouring the hills for easter eggs. When the sun went down, we could hear a few of them out there howling at the moon. Had to send out a search party a few times to bring them back in.............lol.
After about the 3rd year of having those parties, a friend brought over a plaque that she wanted me to nail to the side of the house besides the front door. She was kind of an artist in paints and woodburning. The plaque read:
"The Topanga Starship"
Great times in Topanga. Threw those parties every year for about 8 years.
In keeping to the topic of this thread, there were a few "celebrities" that showed up every year. Memories I'll never forget. It was a very different life back then.......
