There's a few articles getting about that talk about some spanish lab doing comparisons of extraction methods & saying an espresso machine can be used, no real details are given though & it seems to me like it's probably satirical or something, here's some examples-

https://texasweedsyndicate.com/using-an-expresso-machine-to-extract-cannabinoids/

Seems totally bogus to me as no details are given, (& they say they compare it as an extraction method to gas chromotography which i thought was just an analytical tool?). It would theoretically be a solvent extraction though right coz that's how an espresso machine extracts the goodies from coffee- using water as a solvent yeah?, maybe you can just replace water for a more suitable solvent & ground coffee for buds & it works, any thoughts on this guys?

If you look deeper they are using propanol as the solvent, so it's just an alcohol extraction with a clickbait title. You could do the same process with traditional QWET or QWISO techniques and a $1 mesh strainer which would make an even better clickbait article.

And you're right, mentiong gas chromatography as an extraction tool pretty much sums up that journalists familiarity with the extraction industry.

People have used a Mota pot to make canna-coconut oil instead of espresso.

Instead of coffee, you can use decarbed bud or AVB. You use coconut oil to replace some/all of the liquid to make the extraction.

I have used a different brand to extract the remaining cannabinoids from some tincture leftovers. Made it into some pain cream.
