Dreamin' for a vape....just for kief

For years now I've been waiting for a vaporizer specifically made for kief/"pollen". Or at the very least, a current vaporizer manufacturer coming out with optional attachment made specifically for the kief.

It certainly has its own unique properties like hash oils. While there's a lot of engineering done just in the pursuit of vaping oils...I feel like kief is even more widespread and approachable for newbies. Additionally, in plenty of places it is a straight felony for solvent-extracted concentrates while mechanical extractions like kief and canna-butter retain the legality of flower.

There has to be a design that takes specific advantage of kief's grainy-form and high surface area!

I find my enano along with every other log vape to be the best when it comes to straight kief.. I would say they are the closest thing. You can put a super fine screen in the bowls and the bowls are very small which is a must for kief. This is just my opinion tho, others may have found better vapes, I just feel logs are superior for pollen

My flashvape works great for Kief. The screen gets a little gunked up after a little bit, but it comes out and can be cleaned.

The cloud is the only vape I have that can do kief straight without a bed of herbs. I rarely do that because it knocks me right on my ass...

Or the HA. Just needs finer screens.

But if you had the HA you wouldn't be grinding anyways.

Yeah, forgot about that one. Finer screens are pretty much a must on it in the first place though unless you want a salad lol.

I am in agreement that there's a lot of vapes that can do kief, and do it famously.

Though, I think part of this dream is for a design that takes --ease of cleaning/maintenance-- as one of the major considerations. I can't really think of a functional replacement for the metal screen...maybe a design feature allowing the screen to be gunk-up resistant? Something that makes it easier to de-gunk? :hmm:

So I still think there's an even better solution to be found out there.
One day.
Perhaps even implementable for a portable.

It wouldn't be too hard to design a portable where the hot air is directed to a resevoir where meltable oils were at, that way they the melting of them wouldn't clog any aspect of the device. Currently I can't think of any options that fit the bill though, but I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious.

Seconded! My E-Nano with two screens destroys kief, as does my Underdog.

although my favorite thing to vape in my logs is trim... the high is nearly free!

Not trying to overly promote my own product here, but the 2 vapes we have can be used with kief pretty well. Just lay a thin layer of cotton over the screen and place a layer of kief over it.(you can get the thin layer of cotton from a cotton ball)

i have been testing a special kief/oil tube to replace the vial (which has holes in the bottom). This tube is the same 12 mm diameter as the vial and just inserts into the cube.

i'm not happy with how it works, but i don't have the right stuff for all the testing required to get it right ... needs at least 5 iterations, i'm sure.

I have an Underdog and I haven't figured out how to do keif properly yet. It always gunks up my screen and I haven't figured out what temperature is best for it.

I still 'Two Cap' quite regularly since coming up with the idea/video. I don't find that it gets the caps/bowl very dirty very fast...it always seems to let the kief vape quite fully, leaving an easily removable chunk/chunks...smaller layers almost vape away...If it's really good fine kief, and a thin layer, capped tight, on a higher temp.

Turn settings on video to 720p HD

Also, keep in mind, the Cloud in the video is on 12/noon temp setting. I now mostly vape kief at 1:30-max for best extraction.

You can do that with pretty much any vape, and yes you are over the line in recommending your products in an Ask FC thread.

Has anyone else tried using the thin layer of cotton? I haven't tried that yet. The cotton still allows air to flow through the stem? Does this method work pretty well?

I vape straight pressed of unpressed kief in my cera without issues :)

Hey DR,

As have I DR. And one of the reasons I'm really enjoying my CERA. The CERA Loose-Leaf cart allows me to Vape botanicals, KIEF, bubble. Any or all of them combined if need be. Load, Vape, clean medical-grade ceramic bowl by wiping with a paper-towel covered pinky AND REPEAT AS NECESSARY!

Purpl3Haze: Thanks for the "2 Cap" Method/Video! Gonna have to try it on another Vape I own.

NN

Cotton works fine with kief as long as contact heat (conduction) isn't required.

Thanks. I'm going to try this. Now, maybe I'll have more success with vaping kief with my Underdog.
