does vaping/smoking slows cold or Flu recovery?

What do you mean? Also have a problem with prednisone. Seems to dramatically worsen depression.
Prednisone is a difficult drug with many side effects. I only take it when my breathing severely compromised, and for the shortest amount of time possible (with notable exception). None the less, I have trouble sleeping, get headaches, become nauseous, have agitation , mood swings, become sad, angry, weepy, hungry. It's pure hell, but sometimes it has to happen (and sometimes it doesn't, but happens anyway).
Vaping helps me sleep, calms my agitation, helps with the nausea, when I'm on prednisone. It doesn't help with the hunger, but it doesn't make it worse. It doesn't stop thinning skin, bones thinning, or hair falling out, at least in my case, but for the mood swings, headache, sleep and nausea, or dealing with hair falling out, etc. vaping is a wonder .

And if you have to take it daily for years (as I do) it also causes diabetes.
As for vaping and colds- I try not to vape when I can't breathe.

I am pondering this question right now, I have a very heavy cold/mild flu and have not felt this ill since I was a child, I took up vaping about 6 months ago and cant help wondering if this would have happened without the vaping.
Then again if it was that detrimental to my lungs I'd have surely known about it before now.
For now I am lightly vaping a small amount at night.

Thank goodness there is an edibles option;)

My current thinking is cannabinoid-bomb a cold, abstain a flu/fever.

Immunosuppressant effects not so relevant to fighting a cold/rhinovirus, I've read. Easy to knock out just takes time. Meanwhile symptoms largely immune system overreaction.

Took one for the team with a head cold last month. Indeed, recovered normal speed, symptoms suppressed!

I understand by contest the body needs every resource to fight flu.

I never used when I was sick, it just seemed like a bad idea to inhale hot air if my chest felt phlemy already. But it might be a good idea if your really struggling to eat food, its important to keep your strength up when you have certain illnesses.

As someone said, oral administration may be a good idea.

I follow the same rules for vaping as I do for running/jogging.....as long as I don't have a fever or sore throat it's a go. I read you can run with a cold but not a fever years ago. Mucous/phlegm be damned. I start running congested and about 15 minutes in I'm clear. I'm a disgusting mucous monster for those 15 minutes. I blow my nostrils out and spit like it's my job when I run with a cold. I also vape as part of my exercise routine in that I vape during the warm up and vape after as well. About an hour after the run I start to get all phlegmy again but during the run and for that hour or so after it's great. Maybe the following is why this approach developed the way it has for me.....

From "the lung institute": Recently it has been found that medical marijuana and its reported efficacy in treating respiratory illness has been linked to anti-inflammatory properties. These chemicals or cannabinoids are known to have several additional functions as well:

  • Promote better sleep
  • Serve to support the immune system
  • Possess anti-microbial properties
  • Work as an expectorant (reduce phlegm)
  • Can relieve pain
EDIT: I'm not sure vaping helps reduce the duration or severity of the cold but it sure makes the illness itself more bearable. I'm not a doctor but I play one in my own mind :D

Firm believer here in cannabis working as an expectorant. I also vape(flower and/or concentrates) when I have cold/flu and find no adverse effects. Occasionally I will also break out the edibles during an illness.
Medicating daily is just a part of my routine(sometimes micro-dosing, others, a bit more.)at this point and doesn't really change much when sick.
