From readings here and getting to "know" people a little and their preferences through their comments, it seems that there is a wide range of differences in the importance visible vapor has to one's vaping experience.
On the one hand, and forgive my generalizations but, one who is more interested in the medicinal affects would seem to tend more toward valuing efficiency and true-ness of taste while on the other hand, one who is looking for bong rip type clouds from the time-of-combustion.
I'm not sure where I fit in to that spectrum yet.
My experience in the area of vaping non-nicotine based materials is more easily measured in days at this point and so I'm still trying to figure out what I'm hoping to get out of the transition to vaping herbs.
With e-cigs, I am able to mix any combination of flavoring, diluents and nicotine to produce anything from a "stealth vape" that is invisible and odorless on exhale using almost all PG in the mix to a totally VG mix that could milk a car's windows in a matter of minutes.
Like I said though, I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me vaping materials other than e-juice.
One thing I do know, one benefit of visible vapor is that one can gauge how much one has inhaled due to feeling the density of the vapor but at the same time I've started going by the taste to know how much I've inhaled.
It helps not having my taste buds assailed with combustion products, they actually have a chance to register something besides something that tastes like ass, I mean ash. Freudian slip, that!
At the same time, since I can milk the joint with my e-Go C Twist cranked up if I want clouds, I'm finding that vaping other materials can be more on the 'medicinal' side of the Vapor Chase scale.
