i agree about the munchies, i blended mangos, banana, blue berries, whey protein, and some milk...i wasn't hungry for hoursDevoTheStrange said:over the past few weeks I have messed with this mango thing. To me it feels like I am a bit higher than normal, but not by much.
However, I have found that I cannot stand the taste of mango....
Now I cannot tell if it is a placebo effect, or if it is working. For all I know I could have vaped more than I usually do. But, one thing that the mangos did help with is in the area of munchies. I noticed each time I had mango before a vape session I did not get as hungry as I usually get.
I have found the opposite. I think I'm gonna be a damn mango fiend from here on! Seriously, this week was the first time I've ever tried fresh mangoes, and I think they're delicious! As for the high intensity, I've only tried this twice so far. The first time I think I was noticeably more baked. The second time, not so much. Will try again this weekend. Also hard to say definitively since I'm just getting in tune with my new vape.DevoTheStrange said:However, I have found that I cannot stand the taste of mango....
Is absinthe your source of wormwood? The traditional preparation is to drip 3 parts cold water onto a sugar cube into 1 part absinthe. It does taste somewhat like licorice. Absinthe also is very high in alcohol. Most are 120 proof or stronger.VapMonkey said:Catnip and wormwood are also supposed to be cannabis potentiators.
I use them and others on occasion, but I can't say I've noticed any major enhancement. The wormwood does seem to change the high, not sure if it intensifies it though. It also tastes pretty nasty to be honest, no matter how it's used.
Catnip tea on the other hand tastes quite nice, has some medicinal properties and was the drink of choice in Britain before actual "tea" took over, it's also not too bad through the vape.
I quite often drink really hoppy beer when I am vaping and it does seem to have an effect on the high, but I think that's probably more to do with the alcohol content than the hops.
Never thought to try mangos though....I'll definitely experiment with it. There are a lot of things out there that people claim potentiate the effects of cannabis, but I'm pretty skeptical about all of them.
This kinda reminds me of the whole "Bananadine" myth that said that banana skins could get you high if you smoked enough. haha
A lot of people thought it worked and raved about it, but it was all placebo effect and oxygen deprivation from smoking so much.
I've heard wormwood acts as a catalyst for various psychoactive substances when smoked, much like cannabis does with shrooms etc. So he's most likely smoking it as the concentration of it in absinthe would be unnoticeable with all the alcohol.chucku said:Is absinthe your source of wormwood? It seems you may not be doing it properly.lwien said:Dried or wet, it didn't do shit for me.chucku said:Will this work with dried mango?
http://www.treatingyourself.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=28860&highlight=mangoHow To Get Higher With Mangoes
Unlike the rumor smoking banana peels will produce a high, mangoes do contribute to increasing a stoners' weed high. Marijuana contains a chemical called Myrcene. High grade marijuana bud generally contains a comparatively higher concentration of myrcene than low grade cannabis bud. Mangoes, Lemon grass, and other less-common plants also contain high amounts of this chemical. Myrcene is believed to aid the potency of the marijuana high by allowing the psychoactive chemicals found in cannabis, namely THC, to cross the blood-brain barrier more efficiently. The following method does work, however there are some variables. Adding mangoes to your diet is an excellent choice regardless if you determine they don't increase your marijuana high. I've determined when smoking high grade marijuana bud, you are less likely to feel any difference because the bud already contains a high amount of myrcene. To discover the effect mangoes have on your weed high, smoke lower grade marijuana. Purchase a small amount of schwaggy marijuana. An hour before burning a marijuana joint eat a mango. Smoke the commercial grade cannabis. See if the low quality marijuana gets you higher than expected. Some stoners report getting ripped. With heart racing palpitations! Body weight and metabolism may be a factor. If one mango doesn't work, don't give up, try eating two next time. I'm a big fan of mangoes and inhaling marijuana. Eating mangoes before and after smoking marijuana. You may also experiment with the amount of time you wait before smoking. Another great experiment is eating mangoes to solve your munchies. Instead of devouring a bag of potato chips eat a mango immediately following your marijuana session. Even when smoking high grade marijuana, eating mangoes for munchies will lengthen your marijuana high. Stretch it out. It's a cheap affordable healthy alternative to increase your marijuana high. Give eating mangoes a try. And don't forget to smoke the marijuana strain Mango. This is an excellent marijuana type and the marijuana seeds are widely available.
So, just send me all of your high quality bud and buy some low quality bud to use with mangoes. While I was in Nimbin recently at the 2008 Mardi Grass, I had the opportunity to sit and blow a joint with Ed Rosenthal. We got to talking about Terpenes, with particular regard to a chapter in Ed's latest Book, "The Big Book of Buds Vol. 3", called 'The Secret Chemistry of Cannabis Odors and Highs'.
The discussion led to a Terpene known as Myrcene, which is the most prevalent Terpene found in most varieties of Cannabis, but not found in hemp. It is also present in high amounts in mangos, hops, lemon grass, West Indian bay tree, verbena and the plant from which it derives it's name Mercia.
Myrcene appears in small amounts in the essential oils of many other plants.
It's odor is described as clove-like, earthy, green-vegetative, citrus, fruity with tropical mango and minty nuances.
Without going into too much detail from the book, Ed explained that the presence of Myrcene was an important factor in the quality and enjoyment of the high from smoking certain Cannabis strains, particularly those strains that came from tropical climates...namely Sativas.
Ed went on to tell me that it was possible to enhance the quality of the high from a low potency bud, through the addition of Myrcene. He went on to say that this could in fact be tested and verified. And this is how he told me to do it.
Say I had a nicely grown bud that was lacking in the 'Zing' department when smoked. If I was to eat a Mango one hour before smoking the bud, Ed said the addition of Myrcene to my body from the mango, would have a profound impact on the quality of the high, and I would notice the 'Zing' that was missing, had I just smoked the bud without having eaten the mango.
Well Mango Nectar is just mango juice with extra pulp, so I assume it'd weork just as well. Surely just a mango itself is cheaper thoguh, no manufacturing costs etc.?Howie Feltersnatch said:Anybody have any idea if Mango nectar has enough Myrcene in it?
Due to the hispanic fondness for canned fruit nectars, they are available and affordable as hell in places with a decent Latin presence.
My god that sounds like an awesome drink idea. I've always loved the taste of mangoes but never though of mixing it with vodka andweed. Sound like the kind of drink I sit back and chill with on a tropical islandHowie Feltersnatch said:Next test is mixing some green dragon WITH the mango nectar (since the nectar has a strong taste and a thick consistency it can only improve the GD).
