hello fc community!
i'd like to start a thread on using modified 18650 mods to deliver true dabs on the go. i'm hoping everyone that's got any experience or interest will contribute!
i've tried to do a thorough search, but i'm new to FC, so if this is a redundant thread or i've posted in the wrong place please let me know!
i've tried many different "vape pens" on the market---gpens, dr dabber/ego, VV 510 powered, etc. they are convenient and wonderfully inconspicuous, but they simply cannot provide ample medicating effect for me.
after discovering the "portable dabs" thread on icmag, i got a mech mod with an appropriate 18650 battery (i think it was a samsung 25a) to fire 0.3--0.5 ohm coils. i'm pretty handy so i happily wrap my own coils. i've tried kanthal a1, nichrome 80, and anarchist comp wires.
mech mods aren't very safe, and of course there are plenty of stories of them blowing up in people's faces. hopefully using a good battery and a properly rated coil will prevent that, but in the interest of preserving my gorgeous mug, i've just upgraded to a sigelei 150w regulated box mod.
i've got some grade 1 titanium wire so i can experiment with the temp control mode. i'm hoping when i have it properly set up it will quickly fire to my ideal low temp dab temperature ~550--600*f and hold there.
i've also been playing around with ideas to wrap the resistance wire around a tiny ceramic or glass cup to make a mini enail banger situation.
i'll need a new RDA with only two posts and plenty of space to build to make that happen. i'm open to suggestions!
