DiY glass symphony

The intense flavor from these heavy hitters is the best! The larger the surface area of the bowl the better. That was something I immediately noticed and loved with the Flowerpot and its companion Shovelhead bowl. The GS doesn't have the added conduction of a metal bowl but the flavor is better and I can pack more (if I'm feeling adventurous). I didn't have any 5mm balls to check but they seemed like they would be a tight fit. 4mm works great anyways. Did you add anything between your heater and thermometer holder to help with the heat transfer?

I came home yesterday thinking I had turned on one of my smart plugs for the GS an hour prior but I had accidentally turned on my DigiTi. I turned on the GS, vaped a bowl in the DigiTi and then vaped a bowl in the GS. The GS hit harder than the DigiTi, no question. Flavour is very similar but I had a different strain going in each so I can't say for sure which I will come out on top (I suspect the all glass GS).
Because the bowl I chos (is shorter than the recommended one I dont have a very large surface as the heating element gets too close to the thin part of the bowl and no heat hits anything on the sides but its no issue as the chamber already holds enough for me (same chamber size as the tetrax).

I didnt add anything and dont feel like I need it, it heats up super fast and even, fastest one I tried so far, problem comes when I try to play with the temp, the thing gets fast to the desired one but then going higher or lower it takes forever (not sure why).

Never tried the TI but it seems like its harder to burn yourself than with the GS, I already burnt myself with the GS, it hits too hard lol, dont think I will burn myself again thou, lol.

Nice builds
Really pleased to see a few more DiY Glass Symphonies on the board

Are you guys sure that those heater cartriges with xlr have thermistors in them?

Yes (well no actually but I know what you mean :) )
In the listings they say it's a K type thermocouple
You could test that if you wanted

Holding the > button for a few seconds on start-up will auto tune the PID and maybe speed things up

There are loads of different 24/29 or 24/40 to 19/26 reducer adapters to choose from that will give you a deeper or shallower bowl to suit your mood.

I'd say the GS is easier to burn yourself only if you grab at the glass by accident, which I could see if you were really cooked (and the GS will fuck you up). It's a big honkin device so it wouldn't be that tough to knock it over and send hot balls flying if you're not paying attention.

Adding an extra should allow a lower temperature but I don't know if it'll affect recovery time. I agree though, it really doesn't need it as is. I ordered a bowl from different sellers and I have the same setup with my other untested bowl. I'll try it out eventually but I'm having too much fun loading the big bowl up! 4 heaping CH pax scoops in 3 hits and I'm beyond medicated. I hope the honeymoon lasts because this is such a satisfying experience.

Nice alternative to the Pinky, Brain and Titi
How's the stability? Will it sit on an 18mm bowl without having to hold it?

-Sadly the metal holder for the conectors i used are no longer for sale.

I think it is one of the best tasting/hitting vapes I have ever tried, easy to assemble, only burned myself once and only me and non of my friends (I got too stoned the first time and grabed the wrong side XD), nothing serious, I was playing nintendo 15 min later, still the size and the amount of hot parts are the couple of big cons I find on this vape but I knew about it before starting to make it. Thanks so much to the ppl that created the vape and the ones that shared this vape because it got me on the path of figuring out my own vape (also with the help of the elev8r design). I am honestly thou not sure I would recommend building the vape as the main heater is only sold by one company (as far as I know) and it is not the best company, I had issues with them and the product was lose in some ends that I had to tighten up and fix, hope the thing last long because as far as it does the other parts are easy to replace. I might be giving my GSV away to a friend if my new frankenvape continues to deliver, so far it is amazig and it is simple, just a 18 to 14 mm fem to fem adapter and a PID with coil that you have to open up a bit to create gaps and then open to the sides to get the adapter inside and then tighten the coil so it will stay in place, I put a basket screen on top to hold the quarts beads I put inside and a mesh goes in the middle of the adapter to hold the other side. WORKS AWESOME!!! (so far).

Sorry to talk about this vape here as I am sure there is a topic for DIY somewhere in the website but it is part of my GSV journey. Thanks again to everyone and this kind of vapes hit like a train,

Here is my long overdue parts list. I found the keck clips were much cheaper through Deshem (I bought 19mm and 14mm as well) among other parts. I hope I'm remembering this correctly, the Enlarging Glass Adapter aka bowl from Deshem allows the heater to get closer to your flower which may be better for microdosing imo. The same piece from Nanshinlab (the only one I've used so far) allows for a crushingly deep bowl if one desires so.

I had 4mm Kimax borosilicate balls on hand which are working perfectly and that is the size I would recommend. 5mm seems like it would be a bit to airy and the 4mm work great for storing heat. Personal preference I guess.

Topright Industrial Technology
C$ 81.82 | 120V Dia.6.5x100mm Cartridge heater rod with Black single PID controller for mould machine https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLpvejs

There are additional listings for 220V heater/PID combos as well as cartridge heater only listing. I had some major shipping issues with China Post so I'd suggest a faster shipping method (which is only a couple dollars more to Canada).

Nanshinlab Glass Store
C$ 22.47 | 24/40,Three way adapter,105 bend,distillation head,GG17,Laboratory glassware

C$ 11.60 | Enlarging adapter, Bushing Adapter from Male joint 19/26 to Female joint 24/40 https://a.aliexpress.com/_mq86HCO

Deshem Official Store
C$ 9.52 | 24/40,Glass Thermometer Adapter,100mm Stem Tube,La Chemistry Glassware https://a.aliexpress.com/_msnyomQ

C$ 10.88 | 24/40,Straight Drying Glass Tube Adapter,Ground Joint,Lab Borosilicate Glassware https://a.aliexpress.com/_mqEU19C

C$ 8.16 | Enlarging Glass Adapter From Male 19/26 To Female 24/29,Laboratory Glassware https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNUTXuO

C$ 8.16 | 10Pieces 24/29,24/40,Metal Clip,Keck Clamp,For 24# Glass Ground Joint https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtAPqae

I haven't felt a desire to add additional heat storage capacity between the cartridge heater and glass thermometer holder but if I do, I have some stranded copper wire that would probably work. As it stands I only need a 5 minute heat up for it to deliver and then I'll let it sit turned on for the rest of the evening.

Just ordered all the parts, but hate to ruin the all-glass experience with a metal screen...

Anyone got ideas for a glass screen that would fit?

I ordered these 2 "bowls" / enlarging adapters:

But all the glass screens I can find online are 8mm. It would have to be ~18mm to not fall through.

I've also seen some "starfish"/"flower" shaped glass beads that seem too small but maybe they can be wedged together so they don't fall through?

Right now I'm thinking of getting a smaller bowl to put in the "bowl" / enlarging adaptor... then putting an 8mm glass screen in the smaller bowl.

One of these:

That last one has a .75'' (19mm) diameter so it would probably fit inside the longer bowl...

How do I install the silicone cap into the inner body? Do I need to make a hole in the top of the cap for the heating element cord?

Yes, you'll need to drill it out big enough for the cartridge heater to fit through. I used a cork piece and made the hole just big enough that I had to use a little force to get the heater through. That'll leave the cord a little loose in the hole but it's not an issue. I've seen condensation inside my thermometer holder a few times so the hole lets it escape.

I recently ordered a few of the outer bodies listed in the document in the link for some GS builds - unfortunately the version they currently sell is about an inch too short for our needs now.
There are loads of other claisens or 3 way adapters you can use instead but I haven't found any as good as the ones in the original link (or the pic)
So I'd be grateful for a link to something like the original ones (like the one in the pic above^^} if anyone knows of any ... please

Hey Guys!
I created that list and unfortunately couldnt get the right measurements again, The best thing to do is communicating with a seller on Aliexpress, Alibaba etc.. custom glass might be little bit expensive but worth it,

BTW
you could still use the shorter claisen one, just get a deeper bowl to fit :)
