So now that I preordered a DC...
@divinetribe what voltage/ wattage is safe to run this at when we receive it?

Been there and done that! Unfortunately, a nice hot glow at 16w is what it takes to get mine to the cleanliness I like. Thankfully, now that they can be found for $10-12, it's not that big of a deal.In case you haven't had time to read the whole (getting deservedly long) thread, I seem to recall that 10W-12W is the recommended power. Be careful of running it much higher, even when you're cleaning it. I blew out one of mine by excessive duration heating at 15W.
For the donut, yes. The new endeavor, the DC, is matt's (in conjunction with szcrossing) ceramic dry herb vape that is due to arrive soon. I imagine the larger element may operate a little different than the donut, but I suppose keeping the wattage low is a good call regardless. In case you haven't had time to read the whole (getting deservedly long) thread, I seem to recall that 10W-12W is the recommended power. Really? Did you mean 20+ watts by chance? When I used a vv mod on the v1 donut, I think 4.2 volts was my sweet spot. I would think 20+ v would crack the donut. Oh what may answer all my questions is what is your resistance reading for your donut? Btw not saying my way is better. Sounds like you know what you are doing and what your doing works for youI run my donut at 20+ volts. I know it isn't recommended and I'm not suggesting that anyone else do it either. I've been running approx .5 through it daily at those voltages for months but I don't hold the button for very long.
check out what I found on ebay. what do you think about this disc

Yeah, Tucker has been my point of contact any time I emailed over the past few months. This new ceramic plate has caught my interest as well. There are some companies that are rolling out with these ceramic plates. There's even a bigger plate for dry herb. I actually emailed Matt if ceramic plates are going to be available for the v3. However, this was the first time Matt did not respond back to me. Instead it was one of his employees or something of that sort, who just kinda brushed me off saying if they can figure out airflow issues with the plate. That reply didn't Make sense to me.
The thing is basically a ceramic nail it seems. Someone try this bad boy out and report back. I would have got it if it was a deep bowl. I prefer the airflow on the deep bowls way more
That's the response that I do not understand. Problem with airflow? In all the donut versions, the airholes are above the heating element. Meaning whether if it's a donut or a plate, airflow should be identical. Unless v3 has airflow coming from underneath the coil. Seems like it should just be a simple swap of donut to plate. What airflow issues?Yeah, Tucker has been my point of contact any time I emailed over the past few months.
Also, I agree a plate makes significantly more sense than the donut, assuming someone can figure out how to get proper airflow.

my neck hurts from agreeing so much. lol,jk . i bought a quartz banger from him and it was here in a few days. great service great price, easy peazy.Yep, that's the guy. IMO we could use a whole lot more like him.....and a few less of the other type. He's looking to provide the best possible product, not make a big profit as quickly/easily as possible.
for on the GO FasHo! but i bang that sh*t when in @ home, Yo!!!i think the best way to vape concentrates. imo
The v2.5 donut is more of a layg atty. But it hits all your other requirements with flying colors. Plus there's new versions every few monthsSo, I've used the Persei Herculese setup for a while with mixed results. It seemed to screw up at the most inopportune times. I lost it and replaced it with a Puffco pen. I like it but the coil is caked and I need to buy a new one.
That said, this thread has caught my eye. I'm looking for something for shatter. I make a lot of Everclear extract and I'm looking for a DT recommendation. Maximum flavor, holds a lot, reliable. Any suggestions?
Warm oil on a flat surface with even the slightest of space between ceramic parts (plate and skillet) will drip down. If there is no (or insufficient) airflow UNDER the disc, and/or the disc is too far off the bottom of the skillet it's enclosed in, what drips down won't vape and you'll get a puddle of dark decarbed crap under the heater. That's the problem I've had with all my donut atomizers, too. I'm not saying it will be impossible to use, just that it will likely suffer from the same issues as a donut (but still have increased surfaced area and allow you to put your dab in the very center, so would certainly be worth looking into). Someone will get it right eventually, but it seems implausible that it will be leak-proof right off the bat, except for ultra tiny dabs right in the very center, that completely vaporize. For that Fasstech product, I wonder how that flat ceramic plate performs compared to the donut. Mainly I want to know if oil will leak off the sides and pool below, or will it just sit on the plate like it was designed for.
