Ok so feedback on the 2.5v with fc2000 ceramic donut hole. First off the taste is phenomenal the bottum ceramic donut heats up the black donut allowing the wax to slowing heat up evenly. I get huge clouds with the extra donutbut the issue is the donut hole does not stay where it should be, it needs to be a little bigger so it gets stuck. One time I used it and the black ceramic donut hole moved. I like it but I dont. It does get messy! if u have some solid wax u will be fine but trying to put some shatter in there on a hot day, forget about it.

Hi mate,
What device are you using and what watts/ joules @ what temp?

Thanks

I leaf I stick 15.5 watts 310
I set this up earlier tonight,
Using THICK hash rosin and a TV ceramic donut /v2.5 deep: I tend to run my VFmini at 11.5W/260°.
Preheat is a few extra seconds from cold compared to no ceramic wick/donut/mesh.
I stopped the donut moving with a small "belt" of SS mesh to take up the gap. The donut (white ceramic) takes about another 50% of usable oil for longer pulls, but holds the heat a bit longer. Cooling/clearing pulls are not optional.

I'll live with it for a few grams and see how it holds up. As long as the freakin ceramic donut stays put, it acts like a V2.5 shallow with a bit more capacity and MUCH less splashing/splatter.

Cheers

This is good news. I am going to order some of these.

What exactly is the issue with the donut wick moving? Why does it matter that the donut holes don't line up?

The holes lining up was not an issue for me.
When it (the donut) is "free" it sticks to your tool :-) when you dab, if you invert the unit to drain oil, the donut can get stuck to the top cap or when removing the cap, it can "jump" out and roll it's oilyness onto anything you don't want oil upon.
"locked in" with the mesh, it becomes part of the unit...gotta see how cleaning it is, but that is a few days/weeks away.

Got it, thanks for the explanation.

On the topic of cleaning: how often does everyone superheat the atomizer and burn the old oil off the donut? I've done this once, and the amount of smoke that is produced really highlights how much waste there is with this atomizer. Is there a way to minimize waste (smaller loads, lower temp, higher temp, black donut wick, etc)?

I think I superheated my donut way more frequently than most people but I actually do it daily. Sometimes 2 or 3 times too. I like to keep the donut nice and clean for optimal flavor. And I prefer not to vape the black oil that smokes off or drips off when cleaning. I've tried to reclaim it and it wasn't worth my time. Was just nasty

However if you superheated your donut to the point where it's white and good as new, I noticed it needs a primer hit to get back to optimal results. It's like the donut needs to be a little saturated so it doesn't heat up so hot

This atomizer seems to waste quite a bit of material. Maybe the version 3 needs to use a plate rather than a donut, so there's nowhere for melted but not vaporized product to go and hide.

How hot (temp/watts) are you super heating to clean? I have never been able to get back to near white with any of the 3 v2.5 I have.

I cleaned at 16w as suggested by Matt, and I was able to get it mostly white. The donut only heats at two points (call it 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock) so I was left with a small smudge at 3 o'clock.

Hi C,

Compared to everything else, I find it to be very efficient.
If I over load it, it spits and leaks, but most anything will.
I make my dabs smaller, I invert and shake and before I load another dab, I pull a few "empty" wispy hits just to make sure it needs a reload.

I always keep my watts at 13.5 cuz I'm too lazy to change it all the time. The key is temp. 290-320 F for vaping. 420F for cleaning. I can get mine all white if u hold the heat long enough.

Note that an atomizer I once had worked at 13.5 w at 220F needs 300F after a lot of superheated. May even work better afterwards too

I think the ceramic disc is a great idea. One time the whole ceramic casing came off and I could see all the wasted material. It's funny the inside is like a a ceramic globe atomizer with a ceramic disc instead of wick

If you have a few attys to spare grab some pliers and take off the ceramic case by pulling from the metal screw in area on the atty

Sweet!
I was wondering how I was gonna rebuild these.
Press fit is good news.

Hey I, can I ask you where you got the SS mesh and if there's any particular kind (gauge, size, etc.) that works best?

Thanks!

I had one sheet (8 1/2 X 11) each of 400 and 325. Both SS (grade unknown) from the mesh company in the UK. (wash your mesh with dish soap and HOT water before use)

It was left over from a genesis phase as a nicotine eliquid user.
I decided to use the mesh to press/rosin tech some import hash and making the pressing packs resulted in some thin strips of mesh...the thermovape ceramic donut needed some girth...a moment to scratch my chinny and shazam! or poof or hey...what the fuck..

Next order will be 600 or greater for the packs...the SS cleans instantly in acetone and is ready for a repack in less than 2 mins.
As a "wick" for oil/rosin/shatter, I haven't used the SS enough to notice any difference between the grades nor how they act with different concentrates.
I might tend towards a middle of the road approach with something in the range of 200-400.

Many on-line e cigarette vendors carry the SS mesh in multiple grades. Perhaps it could also be sourced via ebay/amazon/grearfastbesttech.cn et al.

What was the question?
