Did I just vape some moldy weed?

God I feel like such an idiot right now.

I'm relatively new to vaping weed, and I've only had 1 vape session before my most recent one.

Two days ago my Firewood vaporizer arrived in the mail, and I've used it once successfully prior to this session. However, I think I may have had a little screw up this time around. I got home today a loaded up the Firewood and vaped one capsule. A little while later I decided I wanted to get a little more medicated, so I load up another capsule after having just used the bathroom. This is where I think my screw up may have began. Since I was a little buzzed I wasn't entirely coherent of what I was doing. My hands weren't fully dried when I loaded the weed into the capsule. I vaped the whole thing and it tasted normal. About an 15-30 minutes later I noticed that there was a really strong stink mixed with the smell of weed. I realized that it was coming from my vaporizer (it had the ABV in it). I wasn't 100% conscious of my actions at the time, so I thought hmm maybe there's some vapors still left so I inhaled it and emptied the ABV. About 15 minutes after that, I realized that the smell persisted. I went and smelled the vaporizer and realized that it smelled like some moldy weed that my friend once showed me. Now I've got a slight headache.

I was just wondering if maybe it was possible that the ABV had grown a bit of mold AFTER/DURING I was done vaping, since the taste was normal when I was vaping the bud. I also slobbered on the mouthpiece a little bit so that moisture may have contributed to it. Also I was vaping near the window so there was more air flow.

I'm headed to the doctors office tomorrow for a prior appointment and if the symptoms are still there I will ask about it, but since it was only a bit of weed I think I'll be ok.

Anyways, thanks ahead of time for any responses or advice.

If it is mold, you would not be able to vaporize a complete bowl. If your herbs deemed too moist, you will likely have mold building up and thus you will be left with a weird flavor. I think your weed is fine, you must be on a good one. Pictures can verify if you got some mold though so check Google images and compare!

Yea that's what I was so confused about. I had originally kept the weed in a mason jar, when I took the herbs out just now they were dry and the stem was able to snap easily indicating that it wasn't moist. I'm thinking that there may have been bits of weed stuck in the chamber that maybe got moldy? I also used a short silicon tube this session and it got pretty smelly, could that have to do with anything? I'm really confused because the herbs from the jar were completely dry. Could it really have been that the weed grew mold in the time frame from transferring the herbs with slightly moist hands till I had cleaned out the vape (maybe 1 hour)?

Well it also depends particularly on the jar's environment as well. If it is kept in a room temperature place try to move it to an area that is cooler. Also try opening up your jars at times when moist. It helps the herbs 'ripen' up that is if you have freshly cut herbs or a fresh batch of nugs waiting to be cured over time.

dont mean this to sound insulting either but it can happen.
as for the mold its for sure not something you should be vaping or smoking. but unless you have a weekend imune system or vape some truly bad type of mold. i think you would be fine anyway.
many years ago before the great internet and all the imformation out there for the learning, i once bought a whole half ounce bag of moldy grey molded bud from a guy lol.
ya he gave me a special price cuz it was so bad clearly visable mold all over it.
i smoked the whole thing over the corase of about a week .what a dumb ass i was lol. anyways i never noticed a thing. i would say your worring to much but you should ever knowing use moldy bud i know i never would today

I'll save you the trouble of looking at pics or asking your doctor... If I'm reading your post correctly you are worried that mold formed while using your cannabis, or shortly thereafter? Let me assure you that mold does not grow that quickly, and no amount of moist hands, airflow or spitting is going to change that.

If mold matured that quickly, my guess is it might be the only form of life on this planet.

You may just have to get used to the many tastes you can get from vaping your bud.

I vaped some killer with someone yesterday who only smokes mids and he's tellin' people I soak my herb in 'Pine Sol' .

yea wasn't mold.... since no one else went there yet i will lol are you sure your hands was clean? since did just came out of the bathroom.Is it possible you had feces on your hands still?

Or rather than mold (blaming herb contamination?), did the herb simply get too hot - turn smelly black or even combust a little? Otherwise, the Firewood has a lot of wood that gets hot, and this could be a cause.

With you citing both being new to vaporization and only having a few days/sessions use of the Firewood (which is fully manually controlled conduction/convection hybrid vaporizer and has a learning curve), overheating (charring or burning) the herb is a distinct possibility as a cause of weird smells/vapors. Also, as with classic log vaporizers, the Firewood heater is enclosed in wood, and getting the unit too hot (or just part of breaking it in) could cause smells from wood drying and degrading near the heater. The smell/undesired vapors could also just be normal in the sense of being part of learning to use (making mistakes with) a powerful, manual, largely conduction-based vaporizer. The Firewood thread can inform you about this vaporizer's use and foibles (what's normal and what's not).
