Desktop vape, which one? And a couple of questions

Hi everyone,

I've been doing research on desktop vapes and I'm down to two choices - the volcano classic or the arizer extreme q. I looked at the evo cloud, but this would be too difficult for me i think ( i use a wheelchair and bending over to a bong can be difficult, but this looks even more difficult).
I want to use it to vape weed, but also occasionally some other herbs.

I've read reviews of both and had some questions! My main aim is to stretch weed as far as it can go, and also get the best effect from the weed. I imagine these effects are what most people are after! I'll be vaping on my own/with one other person 99% of the time, so the vape isn't needed to work for a big group of people.

For the Arizer, I like the accurate looking temp control - although i have heard the temperature drops and fluctuates more than the volcano?
I also like that it can be used with a whip or bong. It seems like you can load it with less weed at a time too? I've read a few people saying the EQ is almost/as good as the volcano. But then I've seen lots of people say otherwise.

For the volcano classic - I've heard for years it is one of the best vapes around. How accurate are the controls? I've seen that you can get a bubbler attachment, does this work with the classic and what does it do for the vape? I've read that you have to use a fair amount of weed to get it working - but I've also read you can put in a minimal amount and it'll be fine - which is true?!

TLDR: What vape should i get, which hits best, which provides best use of ganj and which is able to use small amounts of weed at a time?

Between your two choices I’d probably go with the Q and pick up the ddave mod kit for it for micro dosing. But I’m not sure why you’re not considering other vapes that might work better. I could see the Evo being a challenge for you, it’s quite tall and put a hydrotube on top and using the from a seated position it might be a little Awkward Not to mention how hot it gets to hold. You might be better served by a log vape like the e Nano, under dog, woodscents. All are able micro dosers, can be left on all day so they are always ready to take a hit whenever.

I've heard of the Ddave mod kit, I need to understand that part a bit better!
I'm open to other vapes but from all the searching i've done the volcano hybrid is usually rated #1, but this is too expensive, then after that it is usually the volcano classic or Q.

What's the difference / advantage of the log vapes vs volcano/Q?

What vaporizers do you currently own or have used and enjoyed?

I don't have one. I tried a friend vape pen for dried herb a few years ago, and it was good. I want to stop smoking/doing bong hits as my lungs aren't great, so i want to move towards more vape and edibles. The advantage of vaping is that i can then use the bud for edibles too which is a double bonus! I want something more substantial, that produces good results and I figured desktop vapes would be better than hand held.

Quick edit: I did a quick google for some other vapes just now following your recommendation, and saw the silver surfer and it rings a bell from looking at vapes a while ago! I am totally open to any vape hopefully under £300 (price of the volcano) - whatever works best I am happy with!

Just as a quick note - I live in the UK if that effects anything as looking up the underdog and e nano being more US based?
Happy to try and pursue one or the other if they're the best thing for me though, I love how they look as well!
Can't believe I hadn't really seen any log vapes, and that every site either says volcano, or Q

If you don’t mind me getting a bit personal but around home much do you typically smoke at a time and a day? For ultimate bong rips and some of the densest vapour you can find anywhere look at the flower pot line of vapes made by new vape. Might be a little out of the question though price wise but it is one of the best vapes on the market. I can’t whole heartily recommend it because it is a little dangerous and if you have a habit of dropping things this is not the vape for you.

The main advantage to a log is that you can turn it on all day so it’s ready for use anytime they are very safe. They work with small loads of .1 and under, which might be a little underwhelming if you’re coming from a heavy smoking background. They are super efficient and throughly extract your bud.

The classic volcano is one of the least versatile vapes, bags are only good for so long before the vapour starts to condense on the bag and flavour stats to sour after 10 minutes I seen people post. You can reduce the amount of bud you use by using the liquid pad to take up oven space.

the ddave mod kit is just basically a smaller size bowl for the weed and it is also supposed to be more efficient. Pickingup a Q is a good option if you require a bigger bowl with its included cyclone bowl or if you want to micro dose grab the mod.

Not personal atall!

Often I smoke at night in bed, but, will do it in the day a little too. I usually smoke 1-2x per week. Overall I probably smoke about 1-2g over 2 or 3 hours. Hard to know as my current bud is super dry because it is quite old (found some old stuff in a jar in the garage haha).

The flowerpot looks interesting! I have someone who helps me to smoke, so hopefully I would be able to avoid dropping it!

In terms of leaving a log on all day - I wouldn't do this as i have specific times i smoke and try to ration it out.

Do you get big hits off of a log? And, is the silver surfer any good?

Hmm you’re something of a anomaly, a heavy but somewhat inconsistent user. Typically most infrequent use is with less bud, how’s the quality of your bud, when you’re not smoking the garage special?

in the spirit of full disclosure I have no first person experience with any of the vapes discussed except the flower pot that is my main vape. But have looked into them when I was deciding on my own vape.

if you can take a big enough rip I hear the E Nano can go through the load it two hits, so I’d say pretty big.

I hear vapefiend is a good retailer in the UK you might find a good selection there.

Hopefully someone with more experience can help you with some of the details you’re interested in

There are some quality Inexpensive vapes if you just want to get your feet wet. One of my favourites and second most used vape is the dynavap, you can pick up a m model for for a $100 bucks Canadian, cheaper if you buy a old model. It works with a torch lighter but if you find that you really like the vape you can get a induction heater that is faster, safer and easier to use. It’s a very joint like experience , very suitable for daytime micro dosing.

I got a much more expensive crafty for my first vape and now it gathers dust and I use my dynavap daily

@mystery, I'm no expert by any means so take my :2c: with a grain of salt. If bending over to use an Evo won't work for you, then the FlowerPot isn't a good idea unless you are going to use it with a whip. If the FP is used natively without a whip & someone has to raise the rig up to you to draw, not only will it be on the heavy side & somewhat awkward to manage with the coil's cord, but if the head should fall, you risk a terrible burn, not to mention your assistant getting burned. I think given your physical situation you should go with a vape that does use a whip as in the SSV & others you mentioned & include the Ditanium which has gotten good reviews. BTW, the Evo does work very well with a whip & they do sell a whip setup. A log vape is very light in weight can be used dry or thru water. Besides the logs Bad Dog mentioned, there's also the iHeat. Woodscents log is now CE certified in Europe.

Do your research here & on NFC. Go to YouTube & check out the vapes in action. Besides sneakypete's yt channel & website, 420vapezone.com (website) has solid videos. Check out the Vape Critic's yt channel & his VapeLife forum. And check out puffitup's channel & website. Vapefiend puts out good reviews. Do a search for him as he's on multiple sites. Also, most mfrs, retailers & reviewers are on Instagram. Then trust your gut & go with whatever appeals to you.

Thank you, im looking at vapefiend now!
The quality will hopefully be high quality bud! The stuff from my garage was epic back in the day, but has dried/aged a bit.
Is the flower pot a bit fiddly/a bad idea to use in bed?

Are some of the ones I've looked at

I looked at the rise 2, but saw the Q had bags too - if it was whip only is there much difference between the two?

The only issue with that one is that someone would have to hold the lighter for me which might be a bit difficult, it's hard enough doing a bong with a non torch lighter haha.

Part of the evo issue was i saw it also was difficult to clean/can easily burn yourself when refilling which isn't great for the person helping me haha.
Is that an actual problem or is it ok to clean? It might work well with a whip.

Is there much difference between the silver surfer and super surfer? looking at your link there it looks like the silver surfer is really good and hits hard?

It is possible but perhaps not recommended. The cord connected between the heater and the temperature control box is quite long and will amply reach you from a end table but using in bed would definitely add another layer of caution. I keep mine at a dedicated vape station area on a large harvest table I have in my room, that way if the worst were to happen and I dropped it it would fall on the wooden table but all that said I haven’t as of yet had any accident, still I don’t feel particularly comfortable using it sitting in my lazy boy chair I’m very paranoid about bumping my elbow into the armrest and dropping the heater. You really need a layer of respect for a flower pots potential danger that you just don’t have to worry about with other vapes.

a dynavap with a torch vs a induction heater are two completely different animals, trying the much cheaper option to see if you like the vape but the induction heater is very easy and safe and I think you should be able to use it on your own and that one I’d be much more confident using in bed.

another vape worth checking out is the tinymight, you can order it from the manufacturer or I believe vapefiend will eventually be stocking them. It’s a battery powered portable but is supposed to have almost desktop level performance. The stock stems are more for micro dosing but if you can find a short straight rbt stem for a splinter as a wpa you can use it with a basket screen for a bigger size bowl. My only real concern is if you can press and hold the button down to Engage The vape.

With the dynavape, how heavy does it hit?

No one has suggested volcano, so im happy to put that to one side haha
So from looking, and the suggestions here, it is:
Ditanium vape, silver surfer, flower pot (possibly too dangerous), Arizer Q, and cloud evo (if it is easy enough to load/clean), dynavape

If we rule out the flower pot - which of these will be best hitting/most economical use of bud?

They all hit good, newvape is top in terms of extraction and minimal buds used, 0.05 fine grind get 2-3 hits, hula stem v2 you can use the smallest bowl setting in the tip with ih heater, 2-3 hits easy, 0.03g

Elev8r hits hard too, close to newvape, only $100 something, worth picking one up but you need a big torch

Cloudevo hits hard as well, you will be using .15 to .25 easily

Milaana 2 is about .10 per load, you can go lower depending on loose or tight pack

They all hit good, just get good buds and clean often

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
With the dynavape, how heavy does it hit?
For its price and size it delivers a deceptively big hit with a kick like a mule and with high temp heating you can pretty much rip through it in 2 hits if you can stand the vapour. Coming from bong smoking my dynavap with wpa what was made me a mostly vaper, without it I may have gone back to smoking.

the Ditanium is a pretty good vape but mostly for a bigger bowl, it can hold ruffly .5 I have one that I got a good bit of use from but have since moved toward smaller bowls. It does a good job with concentrate maybe even better then it does with weed. Their are attachments to make it work better with small loads but that is just a extra expense. My main concern for you is the length of the whip which I find on the short side but you could find silicone tubbing online and order a longer length.

The only way you could use the FP in bed is using it with a whip. This way it & the rig would be set up on a stand or night table. But I can only recommend this setup if you have someone with you supervising for your own safety.

Only watched part of Troy's SSV vid., but it appears to be a contender for your needs. I do not know the difference between the 2 surfers. When you decide what vapes you're interested in, you can always do another Ask FC for each contender in regards to specifics.

The dynavap with an IH you could easily use unattended if you have fair to good dexterity. It's a safe vape.

The only problem with the Evo is that the internal glass pathway (forgot what they call it) is fragile if the unit gets knocked over & the repair is $70 - 90 & I don't know if that includes shipping. But you can circumvent this by placing it in a square box - kinda like a ditanium box. + with this one is you can use it a whip with or without a rig, although water is preferable.

You have lot of research to do. Maybe you could go with the dynavap M next sale & have your assistant master using a lighter & see if you like the vapor it produces. If so, you can always follow up with an IH so you can rock it solo. You can always pick up a 2017 - 19 M in the reddit classifieds for cheap.

As I said, do your research & go with the one that appeals to you. Also do Google image searches for the vapes to see how they appeal to you.

BTW, how's your dexterity?

Instead of trying to use a desktop in bed, why not just go for a TinyMight or similar? IMO from what you posted you don’t really vape enough to need a desktop unless one of them is easier for you to use.

@mystery check this out for shits and giggles, what you can do with a induction heater and a dynavap. It’s not my most used method and it is easy to combust if you’re not careful but what a hit lol

https://newfuckcombustion.com/index.php?threads/dynavap-vapcap.203/post-4726

and FYI you can pick up a titanium tip, cap and wpa for ruffly the same price as a m. The titanium heats up and cools down faster and IMO has better flavour

I live in a similar market to you and have spent a long time trying to find exactly this!
The best I can recommend that suits your budget is the Crafty+, and it is extremely easy to hold, use, and rewardingly vape small amounts with (ie. it hits me pretty hard and I am not compelled to load again and vape more for a good long while after the first small load).
Also I think the Volcano Hybrid with the whip can do similar power with small amounts, and it really suits your use case too IMO but it's original launch price was indeed over your budget.
I think it's no coincidence that these are both pretty new vapes from a prominent maker and both are effortless at doing well with small amounts. There might be some new science involved!
I will send you a link to a store that has both on 10% discounts from already marked down prices, so the Hybrid works out at £450, and the Crafty+ at around £180. They also have Mighty pretty cheap and probably do a code for that too, the site's chat tends to let you know about codes as you browse during normal hours.
Of course if you were to wait for another sale you could do better again on either device, maybe join their newsletter for a heads up, I did!
Hope you have fun deciding what to buy and enjoy whatever vape when you get it!

Of the vapes shown on the Vapefiend site that I have used the LSV is the most miserly one but it takes a little tinkering to get that performance. The Silver Surfer shares most of the same components but the presentation is different.

another vape worth checking out is the tinymight [...] The stock stems are more for micro dosing but if you can find a short straight rbt stem for a splinter as a wpa you can use it with a basket screen for a bigger size bowl.

The standard stem allows up to ~.25g, maybe even a tad more, at least definitely beyond microdoses. The TM is good at microdosing but even with the standard setup pretty versatile when it comes to load sizes.

My only real concern is if you can press and hold the button down to Engage The vape.

The TM has a session mode as well. The three rapid clicks to boot it might be a problem, though.

Lol. I read your post and came in just to recommend Volcano. I don’t own a Q but a Volcano digit and love it. Since you would like to use it in bed, or while around the house, the volcano bag is perfect. It only does bags but it does it better than Q.
Q is often recommended as one of the nicest options for beginners, but I’d stay away from Flowerpot or Evo if I planned to use it often in bed or wheelchair. I have both and use it scarcely because I am clumsy and I don’t want to break glass.
