Desktop and Portable definitions.

I read at more than one place people saying specific battery powered vapes are not portable... or not TRUE portable,where TRUE stands for being fit to their personal routine. Please try to think about it... and lets make this clear once and for all,instead of talking bout making HYBRID section.
Even if a vaporizer is not POCKETABLE nor STEALTH,but you can use it without the need of beeing plugged to the mains (Main electrical network) = PORTABLE.
Try to keep your feelings out of it,if something doesnt fit your portable needs ,it doesnt make it a desktop,lol...
For example try to think of what is the difference between Desktop PC and a Laptop... There are some pretty heavy and big laptops,but people dont consider them Desktop.
You can charge your phone via powerbank ,which is similar to powering 510 vaporizer by a boxmod, having some cable in between doesnt make it a DESKTOP,even if you sit on a desk while using it.

I agree with you from a semantics point of view; desktops are corded, portables can move. From the point of view of being a helpful description, "portable" leaves something to be desired since there are so many definitions for different people. IMO, I'm not sure there should be an entirely separate category, but perhaps "portables" could have subsections? Off the cuff, they could be something like a breakdown of their usage: pocketable, packable, at-home portable, etc.

If intent is to simply categorize as corded vs not corded, that's what the categories should be. If intent is to inform the reader what usage could be, I think a clearer distinction is needed for the "portables" category. I don't think this is needed for "desktops" as that is very clear IMO.

This is all just conjecture and my opinion. I think there are a lot of different ways to separate these, and am interested to see what others have to say about it. Good topic; thanks for bringing it up!

The categories are inconsistent as is anyway, as they're not 'desktop' and 'portable', but 'plug-in' and 'portable'.

I'd rather go with:

Plug-in
Battery powered
Butane powered

... and leave the decision of what he/she consideres portable or non-portable to the discretion of the user

I agree here too . It's not because you use a portable vape with a rig that it becomes a Desktop vape. Not sure why some makers consider their vapes Desktop just because they use it with a rig . Lol.... A vapcap , for example , doesn't become a Desktop vape because its being used with a rig. Its a way of using it , period.

The definitions of the two sections are perfectly clear.

Plug-in Vaporizers
Vaporizers that plug into an electrical outlet by default.


Portable Vaporizers
Vaporizers that do not plug into an electrical outlet by default.
