Hi, guys. I read at the reddit Davinci sub that there is a firmware update for the IQ2. But found no information about it anywhere else (including DV’s Insta account or webpage).
Has any of you updated your device’s firmware and/or know what are the improvements?
@Davinci_vaporizer - do you have info you can relay to us?Hi, guys. I read at the reddit Davinci sub that there is a firmware update for the IQ2. But found no information about it anywhere else (including DV’s Insta account or webpage).
Has any of you updated your device’s firmware and/or know what are the improvements?
Shooting you a message as customer service via email and phone doesn't seem to be answering .Thank you for your thorough review!!
Due to size changes in the device, the IQ2 MP/Flavor Chamber is not compatible with the IQ.
There's a difference. Early on we had a different supplier and they were unable to consistently make them to spec, especially with size and the amount of glaze for the pod. With the shift to a new supplier, we were able to improve the process as well guarantee the correct amount of glaze on each pod. Performance-wise, there is no change.
I have responded to you in DM. We will get this sorted for you. Thank you for the post.Shooting you a message as customer service via email and phone doesn't seem to be answering .
Truly appreciate what you have posted here. Great introspection into our product and the intentional uses. Thank you so much!If you find that you’re always going back to a DV because you crave the thick, dense vapor from a dialed in torch extraction, your going to love the IQ2. But that’s where their similarities end.
The IQ2 produces some amazingly flavourful and tasty vapor that I really wasn’t at all expecting from a conduction vape. The ‘Pure Vapor Path’ that Davinci promotes in its ads as it turns out isn’t marketing hype. The glass lined ceramic oven, zerconia air path and mouth piece really do produce pure, full flavored terpy vapor.
The long zerconia air path on the IQ2 also cools the vapor nicely. IMO it cools it more than my Simrell collection would do for a similar extraction. Don’t see the need to run it through water, but a 10mm WPA/mouth piece is included if that’s your preference.
Davinci’s exclusive adjustable air flow dial not only adds additional cooling to the vapor, but provide users their own preferred vapor experience. Whether you’re seeking a tight MTL draw, or open DTL extended draws on water, or something in between, the IQ2 should accommodate you.
Been using the SS dosing pods with good results from day one. I prepare them by using a fine grind, with a firm/tight pack, air flow dial closed and was able to nail the experience I was hoping for on it’s maiden voyage. Others may find experimenting with a courser grind, lighter pack and a more open air flow will suit their personal style better.
Haven’t mentioned the flavor chamber because I haven’t used it. Once the snow is gone, and the soil warms our herb garden will start producing a variety of leaves and flowers to experiment with. Taste and medicinal value aside, looking forward to the natural hydration that the heated bruised leaves will provide to the vapor.
Holding the IQ2 in your hand for the first time you’ll notice several things: the heft, the palmable size, unique design, and quality of workmanship. Davinci backs the IQ2 with a ten year warranty for good reason. With normal care it should last at least that long.
The IQ2 can be a daily driver or a pocketable travel vape that can easily entertain two or more friends. Pack a few loaded pods, an extra battery and you’re good to go for an extended outing.
There are many Davinci exclusive features in the IQ2 that were not mentioned here, but easy enough to research. So is it worth the price? I think so, considering that it won’t set you back anymore - or even less - than the other mentioned unit in Ti. Not sure why it took me over three years to purchase one, just glad that I did. Looking forward to Davinci’s next creation and hope it includes some form of air flow control.
Be well everyone.
If not the Murata is this okay in your opinion? https://www.18650batterystore.com/products/molicel-m35a-18650-battery?_pos=1&_sid=93af95457&_ss=rThat’s all great, I happen to be a battery student.
How about the requested data sheet for the Davinci supplied 18650 battery that is supplied to you by YDL in the purple wrap?
The first step in lithium battery safety is having the proper data, many end users like me have advanced chargers that allow detailed control over charge/discharge cycles etc. These specific battery data sheets are publicly available online from every major battery manufacturer. I would think just from a legal - safety viewpoint the Davinci company would want the customer to have access to the battery data....

The only reason I was thinking of the 10amp was because the DaVinci rep said their engineers recommend 8-10 amps. I'm not a student and I need to go on the battery education site to get more schooled. Just don't want my battery to explode . O do trust your judgement though since I know you're the battery guru. Thanks.I wouldn’t use a 10 amp battery. The Sony/Murata VTC6, is 15 amps, that’s my minimum. But while a little less runtime, the MOLICEL P26a is in reality a 25 amp, there is a newer P28, that supposedly adds 200 mAh in runtime. That site is one I’ve bought from multiple times.

Exactly. Scares the crap out of me. I"m going to order the one you suggested.I’m sure 10 amps would work, and that’s their MINIMUM, but my IQ2 came with:
YDL 18650d - 3080mAh, 11.1WH, Chinese, Purple Wrap,
which is similar in specs to a Sony VTC6, 15 amps.
BTW: you may also end up with other devices eventually, so 10 amps could be a liability.
BTW: I’m no guru, just self taught as one must respect the power contained in a single lithium battery. If you check the news, the abandoned ship full of electric cars that caught fire, has finally stopped smoking.... they obviously didn’t have the proper lithium fire suppression equipment, and lost millions.
I have not - but I imagine it would cause the already tight air flow to get worse.Has anyone by any chance tried putting glass balls inside that flavor chamber for additional cooling? Was just looking into the davincis and had the idea that that may be fun

Fair consideration. I don't have one, just been looking into themI have not - but I imagine it would cause the already tight air flow to get worse.
Do you use the longer mouthpiece?

Oh I think that is actually a cool idea, you just need to make sure you use the right size (and material?) balls, I like a mix of 4 and 6 mm so the air flow is not too restricted in stem vapes and j hooks at least...
The bottom center hole is tapered down wards like a funnel. Been noodling as to what could be placed there first before the balls are added to keep them from sealing it off. Must be a simple solution that does't involve jamming a screen to the bottom.
FWIW:
If I recall correctly from earlier in this thread when a few were thinking of NOT using the ceramic flavor chamber, that Davinci did NOT recommend using the IQ2 without it. Perhaps, without it, the air pathway is no longer isolated from the IQ internals. As you can see by the construction of the flavor chamber, it seals on both ends when inserted.
Personally, even with the IQ2’s adjustable air flow dial fully open, there is enough resistance that I wouldn’t want to restrict it any more. But have fun....
I don't think they were suggesting using it without, that wouldn't make any sense? The idea is just adding some cooling thing to that flavor chamber... The goal is not to restrict, the goal is to provide some extra cooling, without adding (much) restriction
Well, you suggested using the zirconia spacer, that would only fit if the flavor chamber is removed.
Oh haha I'd never even checked that myself!
