I don't envy you guys... I couldn't pick either!

All of these wood samples were from my shop, scaled correctly, as accurate to colour as I could make em. But obviously the end result will be slightly different based on that particular block of wood. The cocobolo is especially variable between blocks, some have straight grain, others have wild grain... all different shades from orange, red, brown, black...

009 checking in. These are three mockups Dan just sent me. Cherry burl, blackwood and padauk options. I think I want to go for a clean, understated look with the paper. Curious to see what you guys think...

(Mods, I'm figuring these are OK to post here, since they're official mockups from @Dan Morrison as part of the process, and not random requests for mockups with huge images of just chiyogami paper. If I'm incorrect, please feel free to move to that other thread in the basement.)

Yeah, those are some nice woods! I know the padauk is supposed to turn a darker reddish-brown with age, but that would match the sleeve better, so I'm cool with it. I'm having a hard time choosing between 1 and 3... guess I'll have to sleep on it.

@KawaiiOppai Thanks for producing the sleeve design tool, might be a big ask but any way of implimenting the various wood choices available into that as well?

@Dan Morrison Thankyou for those Dan some of those wood combos look amazing! Can you supply dimensions of the unit please so I/We can scale some papers to a body ourselves, might save you a bit of work too

The more I look at this design the more I like it. It's really loud, definitely will stand out.. And I'm not sure if it really captures the "heirloom" aspect of such a premium device.. People with the clean/reserved sleeves have the right idea there.

But anytime I start thinking of a different configuration this one pops back into my head.
Guess it just really wants to come home with me..

I didn't get in on the first round, and thought maybe seeing all the mockups of different woods and sleeves would make the decision easier when my time comes up. I think I was wrong... all the choices shown here are so beautiful it is still going to be difficult. I would be ecstatic to own any of these combinations.

@Prolusio, haha. that Orange/Yellow on Red design is definitely loud. I've mocked up a few more with that orangey-red sleeve. IMO, not my aesthetic, but people seem to be intrigued by it!

Can I throw this wild looking bright green into the mix with a burl. Just experimenting to see if ones I dont necessarily think will work, oddly might. Hoping to be surprised with some outlandish colours.

PHEW! Hopefully that is the last of my requests and enough for me to make a decision. Choices are great, but clearly for some of us they involve a lot of work

This is getting to be very difficult, in a very good way.

So many great choices, I don't even know what to request I'm just soaking it all in.

I still like the CHIYOGAMI 638 pattern a LOT but I think the burl's too busy for it after seeing them mocked-up together; maybe I could see it with different wood? It does look fantastic with that abalone button.

Yes Sir, I believe they're ALL lucky numbers.

I'm having a difficult time making my choices. I've asked Dan to mock up two more combinations, then I'm going to pick one and go with it. Definitely going with the Cherry Burl for the body though, unless I choose African Blackwood.
