I get no visible vapour, it tastes burnt at higher wattage and I can't even get the device to work half the time with 'Power too weak', being displayed on the front with a fully charged battery and only set on 8 watts?

I also get no indication the unit is charging, when plugged into USB. the screen goes blank?

Hmm I noticed something weird last night after hitting the vape again and again, I noticed that the screen flickers the lightning symbol and somehow the battery indicator shows there is no battery left even though it was at 3/4 when I started. Furthermore, I just tried charging the battery and notice the same thing as you did, it doesn't show any indication that it was charging, although I did try to use a USB extension cable at first. Then I tried turning the battery off and connecting directly to my laptop's USB port and somehow it shows the battery charging indicator on the screen, then moving it back to the USB extension cable it now shows the battery charging indicator. Therefore something tells me the software is a bit buggy... Also the battery level is now at 1/4 as opposed to being depleted like it showed before, so not sure if the battery level sensor is working as it should.

It would be great if Vapefiend could weigh in on the issues we are facing :)

Edit: yes after hitting it several times to the point where the atomizer is really hot, the taste of whatever you are inhaling tastes burnt as well as no visible vapour. However I did manage to get some wax in while the atomizer was really hot and managed to hit it before it melted on the hot ceramic bowl, and I believe I did get a sense for the taste of the concentrate mixed in with the burnt taste of the reclaim that seems to be stuck in the ceramic bowl and isn't evaporating anytime soon...

Furthermore, while I was using the dabstorm 2.0 last night, the readings I was getting was around 3A and 15V while hitting it at around 26.5 watts. At first it was slightly less than that, I guess because the battery was just warming up.

Ok so received my ds2 atty ... no joy at first trying to run it with eleaf istick 30 .. this wasnt firing it. I went to local ecig store. . So u need a batery capable of reading coils down to around 0.25. So i got an eleaf ipower this works fine.

Great flavour on first 2 pulls around 23w.. not much visible vapour (but super terpy and flavoursome) then after first couple of pulls up to 27w plenty of visible vapour .. you gotta charge it tho (long 10 sec pulls).

Really good flavour whuch lasts much longer than donuts (first time use so may deteriorate over life span) And effects seem very strong (surprisingly so) Really good airflow too.

Ill let you know how it holds up

I tried with the long 10 second pulls, whether it is when the dabstorm 2.0 is cold during the start of a session or if hitting it further down when the atomiser is hot to the touch, but don't see to be exhaling any visible vapour. Whereas if I were to use the same concentrate in a standard dabstorm unit then I see plenty of visible vapour...

Maybe the unit performs optimally at first with a clean ceramic bowl, but deteriorates over time? At the moment my ceramic bowl has a bunch of wax sitting on the sides, heating up the bowl (10 second full hits) melts this residue to the point where it is just a black liquid, but no matter how many times it doesn't evaporate and just stays there for the next session (it returns to a solid / waxy substance). From my initial thoughts on the unit, I would say it is much harder to get the heating chamber of the dabstorm atomiser as grimy compared to the ceramic bowl of the dabstorm 2.0 seeing as a higher percentage of the concentrate seems to be evaporated in the older dabstorm model compared to the new one. Does anyone agree with me that this is the case?

Makes no difference whether I use my PC or a plug socket, no charging indication.

I have found two other major problems as well as the battery issues..

1. It leaks everywhere! Even though there is a screen to help with this, it doesn't! I left my unit on its side last night and today the concentrate is everywhere. This is only 2 days old!

P1000301_2.jpg

2. Only a section at the bottom of the cup seams to heat up, so the oil runs away from the heat to the edges of the cup and doesn't get vaporised and you simply get a hit from the dregs burning in the middle of the cup.

yes I do believe I experience the same as you. When I store the ds2.0 it is usually on its side, so the next session the residue is all dried up / waxy and it leans to the side. I've also experienced that the concentrates travel to the sides of the bowl when it heats up and cooks only the middle of the bottom part of the bowl, which is consistent with why it doesn't evaporate the whole thing. I haven't experienced spillage yet, but I believe as add more concentrate the bowl will fill up. I haven't used the screen that came with the unit though. From what I can tell, there needs to be some improvements still on the dabstorm 2.0, and the unit isn't being advertised correctly, seeing as only the bottom section is where the immediate heat is and the residue to the sides are ignored. If ds2.0 users are experiencing this level of grime so quickly to the bowl with frequent issues, then it looks like there would need to be regular upkeep with buying new ceramic bowls, which make the maintenance costs for this device quite high...

I've had the Dabstorm 2.0 for a few days now.

Very impressed with it over all. Great flavour, and big rips on the 30w setting.

I've been Q-tipping my chamber after every few uses, as I would a regular nail. Keeps it nice and clean

:o In fairness the manual does say not to leave it lying down & keep it upright when loaded!
because of this & the way it hits this one is very much a LAYG for me. Somewhere between a regular pen and my Dabbie.

Good idea, I'll try this and stock up on some Q tips... Are you also getting no visible vapour? As well as the issue where the bottom middle bit (your 2nd pic illustrates this) of the ceramic bowl is the only part that gets heated, forcing the wax to move to the sides.

Depends on watts. I get a decent amount of visible vapour from the third hit on 28-30w. First 2 are really flavourful but very thin vapour compared to hits 3+. I'm not always after visible clouds either lots of vapes produce thin vapour but still do the trick :whoa:

I tilt mine a bit in use to get some of the oil towards the middle where it is definitely hottest.

Have seen my shatter bubbling when spread to the edges too so it must be hot there. tbh as it's ceramic the whole thing must be heating. It's a heat conductive material and quite thin.

There is some reclaim left on the sides that I mop up with a q-tip after a couple of loads. But it's less than I loose to non-coil-less atty's imho & I avoid overloading.

Very true now vapefiend has sent me a PDF I can read, but in fairness, I didn't know this as I couldn't read the provided manual.

But that now means it isn't going to be possible to be my go-to portable dab pen while out and about that I had hoped it would be as I cannot guarantee it will stay upright in my pocket and I never had this type of leakage with the Dab Storm 1.0 / Dr Dabber Aura or my Yocan Evolve.

I agree with @Rishi Tank , there is room for improvement, and personally I prefer Dab Storm 1.0 in terms of flavour so far.

Perhaps if the bowl heated more evenly across the cup, and an anti-leak cap was added, it might take the device to the next level, as I have high hopes for the Dab Storm.

Still have battery issues though :(

It is a definitely a tiny manual but I could just about read it, not that there's much to it. Important info nonetheless.

Ive found carrying it ok with a smallish load of shatter. My oil sticks to the bowl, but admittedly I do carry it mostly upright either in my pocket or bag.

I'm finding a few hits from this more satisfying than my smaller pens.

Your battery isn't charging right? That sucks hope it gets sorted :\

On second thoughts regarding the flavour, the ds2.0 definitely is better than the original. Tried it at 28.5W and the flavour was intense during the first few 10 sec pulls.

Interesting, as I find the opposite! Now I have upped the wattage, I am getting loads of vapour, far more than my Dr Dabber Aura, but not as tasty.

Vapefiend have suggested it is plant matter in my Rosin, but the same rosin, from the same press tastes better in my doughnut atomisers.

Vapefiend say that could be because the cup has more surface area being heated...
The carbonised flavour may be more noticeable than when using the smaller donut atomizers, as the surface area of the bowl is greater.

To answer the heating question, they say...
The ceramic heating bowl heats from the centre out, but the heat transfers across the whole floor of the bowl and radiates up the edges too.
I personally think this needs to be improved and a more even heat applied across the entire cup, as I find the oil hides and the middle burns.

Yeah that kind of makes sense, I would be interested to see a titanium bowl being made for the ds2.0, I think the heat transfer would be much better and the bowl would be much easier to clean. Once they solve this, the issue with the concentrate running to the sides should be fixed if a larger portion of it is being evaporated instead of how a majority is stuck in liquid form currently.

Update: Using Q tips works wonders, also the middle of the ceramic bowl has a burnt ring around it but the flavour is great when adding some wax and then cleaning after a few 10 sec pulls and repeat. Also prevents leakage if setting it to its side. My advice is stock up on Q tips as part of using the ds2.0.

Got some issues too but I can see a lot of work on this unit, the replacable cup is amazing!

Although, like others here, I can't get a lot of vapor, i tried the 15w(nice taste but no vapor), 20w (very light vapor) and 25w-30W with thicker vapor. The lack of clouds is annoying but i noticed how harsh is the vapor (even without clouds), it makes me cough like crazy and is very irritating for my lungs.

Flavor is amazing but it is too harsh and quickly disappear for a generic taste. The mod box is very small and offer the TC feature , although I can't find in the user guide how to set the TCR number.

Be carefull to keep your unit straight even while not using it to avoid leaking. This large cup incite you (and me) to load a big glob but I will try smaller load, that's way the oil will heat faster and maybe it will be possible to get clouds and taste in the same time. With big loads the cup act first as a decarb oven (poducing large bubbles) that's why after that the taste sucks and the oil is very runny (and can leak easily).

Why the screen?

Hmm you could be onto something there, I was hoping this would be a fill up and take out and about, but it's not possible due to the leakage.

Why the screen?
It is meant to help stop leakage according to the user manual, but it works as well as a chocolate tea pot!

I've sent my battery back under warranty and will hopefully get fixed quick so I can continue with my testing. I have pressed some nice new Rosin in anticipation, and grabbed some ISO and Q-Tips ;)

Edit: Does anyone know if it is safe to submerge the entire cup in ISO as long as it is fully dry before usage again?

With regards to the ceramic bowl acting as a decarb oven, that got me thinking to how when you load in some fresh concentrate and have an initial hit you don't actually notice much evaporation (it is bubbling at this point) but consecutive hits give you the flavour as well as more visible vapour rising in the glass mouthpiece at higher temperatures.

Not sure if submerging the entire cup would be a good idea since it uses the circuitry underneath the cup to make contact with the atomizer. I was also wondering if these ceramic bowls had a life expectancy or degrade over time? Or could you literally keep using it as long as you keep cleaning it? The screens are quite useless and just give you yet another piece that needs cleaning, so I wouldn't bother. Having used the ds2.0 more often now, I've noticed that at higher temperatures you can visibly see the battery indicator decreasing, so I would say that if you are using it around 28W or so then the battery would probably last 3 to 4 days max (assuming several loads each with a few 10 sec pulls).

To make the ds2.0 a fill up and take out and about device, I guess the best way to do that is to buy the nautilus x tank and fill that up, so that it is literally ready to go.

I just put a fresh small hit ready to go when im out and about and its fine .. just carry a little silicone pot and dabber and you got fresh hits on the go.

If youre putting loads in and looking for multiple uses then youre just cooking all that oil. Always best to just chuck a fresh dab in imo

With eliquid you run into other problems

Guess I should take a pass on the 2.0 since it sounds like you have to run it at 30w to get good clouds, which means more charging..... I'm pleased just using the original Dabstorm big boy batter with Yocan Cerum donut atty at 11-15w.

Am I alone to think the vapor is not smooth at all....?
Even at 15W I cough like hell...without visible vapor!

I don't get this issue with Cerum donut and qdc, hercule, Evolve, Linx, V-One....

Maybe I'll tried another cup.

Hey guys, I'm thrilled to hear that so many of you are already getting on board with the Dabstorm 2.0. I must say I'm very proud of this device- the hits I get are so smooth and yet so powerful- but there are definitely some tricks to getting the best results.

1. always best to start with a clean bowl for the best flavour- because of this I usually only load it with the right amount for each session. After you let it cool down again the flavour is not so good, but the hits will still have a good effect.

2. I'd recommend 30w (no higher!) to start out- once you have gotten used to the way the Dabstorm 2.0 heats up you can try dialling down the power. Make sure you don't heat the empty bowl, but instead put a nice size chunk of extract in it. Then hold the button down, count to 3, then keeping the button held, take a long deep draw, at least 10 seconds. The second and third hits will produce nice thick clouds.

3. Dabstorm 2.0 works best with stable shattery extracts, waxes and oils. Pressed resins and powdery extracts will taste more smokey. Even the cleaner extracts will lose their flavour after a few hits, as the terpenes evaporate first- but the hits will still be active although less tasty. I think this is what you're experiencing @PPN- Most of what is left in the bowl after vaping will be waxes and lipids, and they don't taste great. So it's a good idea to swab the bowl with a q-tip every now and then, just as you would with a ceramic nail.

4. The Dabstorm 2.0 atomizer will only function between 20 and 30 w. Personally I find I get the best results at 27-30w. But some who like the low temps will get nice thin hits as low as 20w.

Yes I've experienced the same thing, especially when taking off the glass mouthpiece to clean the bowl, it sometimes loosens the retaining ring and I end up having to push down and twist it back into place, at this point it's quite hot to touch.
