Da buddha dab kit (nail ? )

The instructions should be more explicit.
When all is in place, the "nail" should not in ANY spot actually make contact with the glass.
The element is to be moved down into it's housing manually prior to installation of new HC and the "nail".....
NOW, when you place the ball on top, it will block the airflow~

Not the issue. The way the top of the globe was shaped does not match the glass stopper in any stretch of the imagination, there is an 1/8" air gap at one side of glass on glass which is also why it doesn't want to balance up there and will fall over easily. The globe itself has to go over the heating element at a slight angle because the section where the wand goes is to big for the piece to slide straight over the heater base. No big deal and maybe quality control was missing that day. If everyone else says theirs fit like they where made for each other and slips over the heater base with out having to flex it then I will probably just order the two new pieces if 7th floor will do nothing about the glass I already have.

Edit: I heard back from 7th Floor, very quick response, does seems my glass got past some quality control and they are waiting for a new shipment from the glass blowers next week, they will gladly swap for a new piece then. Great customer service.

i am not sure my issue is the same as GR but it is related. my stopper takes a man with patience to get it to sit right on top and any bump to my desk and it falls over. debating on if its the same thing and i should call 7th floor too

***EDIT*** i guess i do have the same issue. i cannot vape flowers with the new globe in place at all. not even wispy hits. kinda sad now... i am sick and looking forward to this session cause it was the first i had all day. now i have to wait for my DBV to cool enough so i can change heater covers back :(

Yup.

I have been using the incorrect terminology for the parts in my posts though. The dome is the two balls of glass and the heater cover is what I was calling the dome ( a dome surrounds the TI on all my other rigs).

Yeah trying to suspend a heavy glass bar bell on top of all glass pieces is a disaster waiting to go smash. I am not sure a different glass barbell (dome) would be much different, IMO the heater cover needs a bigger lip for the dome to sit on securely. I have yet to find a way to vape flower with the oil heater cover, TI on, TI off, heater cover top opening completely sealed ( turns out the smaller ball side of my dome does make a decent seal but it even more tipsy) but with the heater on high nothing. Just a stab in the dark but seems there is to much volume inside the oil heater cover to get the air hot enough to convection vape. Vitolo have you tried vaping flower with the oil heater cover yet?

In my last reply to 7th floor I asked for a replacement heater cover if the new shipment is actually smaller and will slide over the heater base with out torquing everything on an angle to get the heater cover on, otherwise it does nothing to send me a new one.

I don't vape flower that much and oil is my goto so in the long run I won't be switching between the two heater covers much. As for a TI nail on a variable heating sorce I am very pleased and I am sure they will work out any kinks in the near future.

Be careful installing this. After a week of anticipation for the kit to get here the glass heater cover shattered when I was trying to put it on.

 aww Mike, that sucks some serious ass dude.

But, I do gotta say........................... OMG, OMG, OMG!!

This is some serious horniness. wow, I am sooooooooooooo glad I didnt sell my DBV 2mths ago. I would be kicking myself. I have been looking for a leave on, do dabs anytime without anyone thinking I am test flying a Mig jet in my mancave from the torch. (oooohhhh, a Mig in my mancave...... more horniness)

Anyhoo, I havent been this excited since i saw the Cera videos!
and praise jeebus its a shitload cheaper!
yes,I do realise its an apples to motorcycles comparison. But, I just want a oil vape option that is user friendly and gives me instant oil vapor that I can turn on in the morning and turn off at night. Not so much needing a portable oil option myself.

All for $60 + shipping to Oz. wow, this is what I have been looking for.

there is much excitement in the dorkus molorkus mancave!
Now, pls excuse me I need some special alone time with vito's video, an egg whisk and a limp piece of celery.

EDIT:bit the bullet and ordered one. $20 shipping hurts a bit, but even so. its a bargain!
it will solve a problem, i have been needing to solve and it give a new lease on life for my DBV thats been getting dusty for well over 12mths. woo-hoo!

I have had great email communication with 7th floor the past couple of days. I have sent them pictures of the oil heater cover not being able to be installed perfectly vertical which means a high chance of breakage. Do get in touch with them and report your breakage. This is very much a work in progress and input from everyday user will help them perfect an already good piece.

I am going to ask about this next with 7th Floor. The language in the oil kit makes me think it is supposed to be able to do flowers as well. "and comes with a Globe top to cover up the hole for a seal just like our regular DBV Heater Covers". IMO the oil heater cover needs to be easily swapped by being slightly smaller or it needs to be able to do flowers well so it doesn't need to be swapped. Heck making the inner volume of air less may even allow the thing to do flowers, then again maybe it is the size it has to be to be able to do oils as well as it does.

Yes, good news for me I contacted them and they said they can replace it under the 30 day warranty. :)

mikeholliday,
Ive adjusted my temps to 2oclock and its working much better than 12 now. I was definitely wasting a bit at the lower temp.

My heater cover "lid" fits fine on top of mine. If the stem of the lid isnt straight up and down I do experience weaker hits but Ive only had to adjust it a few times. I still experience a little extra drag with it perfect but my hits are about the same size as with the other cover, definitely not on the same level as you guys. You should not have to change the cover.

Im sure they will help you guys out they have been extremely helpful to me in the past.

i wrote to them and described my issues to them (1. having to swap heater covers to do oil/flowers and 2. the stopper not staying on top of the heater cover) and i was told to take some pictures and send the pics to them and they would look into replacing them. i was also told that YES... the oil heater cover should also be able to do flowers and that swapping heater covers like i am doing now is not necessary by design.

I did some temperature measurements from the TI today from a ThermoPen which has a max temp reading of 575f. The results left me needing better data so I ordered a high temp thermo coupler probe for my data logger that is good up to 1832f/1000C. Until I get that I will say that to keep temps below 550f I had my 6year old DBV set at 10 o'clock measuring the the TI at the center with an hour warm up at this setting. Settings of Noon on where quickly above the 575f limit of the ThermoPen so my normal setting of 2-4 o'clock seems like it is range of a torch and a nail when I let it cool to the temp I feel I get the most flavor from., this is all speculation on my part still. My hopes with the ball probe I should be able to get decent measurements from a nail with a torch vs a dab of the DBV oil kit.

Speculation time. My favorite glass to do nail hits from also has the shortest length from nail to mouth, very little reclaim, and no irritation to my lungs unless I try to dab to big. The DBV oil wand has 10" of tube attached to a 14mm water pipe adapter and of coarse to a water pipe, this setup collects ridiculous amounts of reclaim which none of collects in the divot of the wand, most collects on the screen of the wand and in the water. Not a fare comparison though, the elevate shower bubbler has always made a ton of reclaim compare to the short path and design of the Bob Park bubbler. This got me thinking and now I am running a 18mm female to 14mm male to run a 6.5" of tube to a water pipe adapter and no screen. The air path has been shortened by 6.5" before the bubbler with no resistance from the screen, I will let you know the results.

would a correct size marble work for a stopper up top for when you're not dabbing?

also would these fit on a SSV? im not sure if the DBV heater covers are a little shorter, but these ARE a little different.

this design is so simple, i need to have a friend make me one, but better.

i happen to have a ti head that fits on my element, if its too big ill pick just the ti part up at HEMP if i have to. this might be promising, but i could see claim being an issue :\

Xchadb,
The hole on top is a little bit smaller than the size of a quarter. A marble would probably work but the base of the original stopper does get hot if left on for a bit, which is why they added the little handle.

The special wand is pretty worthless. The dip that is meant to help collect reclaim doesnt. You do need a second wand though as the bowl gets too sticky to load a bowl. Also if you smoke abv oil out of it prepare for the taste the linger in your whip.

I will disagree wholeheartedly.
The special wand has been invaluable to me, in both use of the Oil tool... and in reclaim.
You need to store it properly after usage to have it work well.

Photoon2013-02-28at1041.jpg

I have filled and reused the oils from this wand twice.
The design is great, but the user must do his part, to store the wand correctly between uses.
Especially important is the way you store it immediately after use when it is still warm.
DSC02345.jpg

Here you see the wand immediately after use, sitting in a basket, next to my SSV wand.
I use the cover of the SSV bag and the basket the Oil Wand is in to prop the wand correctly.
Notice the dip (oil pit) aimed DIRECTLY toward the ground, at a 90 degree angle~

How are you supposed to store it? My wand looks the opposite of yours :(

If i leave my wand in the unit while turned on high will it consolidate down there? I guess I never put much thought into storing it.

Sorry... I edited. Please look back to my post I added image~
That 90 degree angle allows oils that hit the screen, as well as oils that hit the dimple behind the pit to condense and run back into that "pit".
Please note... this is not automatic.
It takes some cooperation on the user's part.
You have to lean it a bit forward, and back... and suck some heat through it without a dab here and there, to keep it all flowing to where you want it to be.
I have yet to experience any trickle of oil passing the tube orifice after the wand...
but one must keep an eye open!

concidering this, a 90° elbow (18 mm) and a hakko iron... Attach the entire asymbly directly to a glass piece and bam... The quiet dab.

Edit: im also interested in how a quartz sleeved divited head nail would work... The hampster wheels a smokn now!

VAPOLITICS!
OK so after 1 day of testing:

1st I'm a fan boy of the SSV and never thought I would have a DBV plugged at home! :D
Anyhow, I must say sorry to FC for my previous & wrong suppositions on this thing and its functionality (with concentrate disk): I was wrong! This thing will vape/dab your concentrates without the disk!

This been said, you have to lower the ceramic as stated by Vitolo. I have the new stoppers and it works well.

I use it with my AquaVape when I want to moisturize my hits, or the normal mouthpiece for dry hits damn, claim' formed exactly in front of the perc. holes...).

I have been playing with the IR gun and basically on the corners of the cup (junction walls & base) it reaches 245°c at max temp. the middle of the cup maxes around 220°c. I will try to lower slowly my temp to see till which temp. it will still flashvape with better flavors!

The hits are more airy/less flavorfull then with a rig and there is a lot of space for claim/condensation/lose... between the glass HC, wand, tubing... Those asre the 2 only cons I see about this "Electrical nail of the poors".

BTW, my setting works with plants (but you need to be on max temp too as the Ti cup is "sucking" a lot of heat)! Oh and a cup from a DYD nail or a HE nail works fine. I suppose if you find a quartz cup with a hole where the ceramic heater fits, it would work fine too! :D

Probably because of the inclination of the ceramic element & wand...but as the Ti cup has a long sleeve (approx 1cm around the creamic heater) it wouldn't fall!

I hadnt thought of that. Im sure it could be done, but after thinking about it I can see why its far to impractical. Im still entertaining using the kit and an adapter to hook up a hakko nail to my bubbler, but im gonna have to research the hakko mod first.
