Yeah I pointed the perc out to sunshine store, so maybe they can work something out, otherwise maybe less honeycomb would still do the job.So it is all one piece! Thats niiiiiice!
Edit:
As diehard said the perc in the China tube is just 4 honeycombs.
Damn, I was really looking forward to the cobra can. Do you think any one else could produce it?I just heard Steven will not be producing the Cobra Can. There were difficulties with construction, and they were not able to complete a prototype after many attempts.
I was really looking forward to the design, so this setback is a bummer, but a silver lining is that they are fixing the joint and mouthpiece height issue on the Rattle Can. V2 will not require a dropdown for comfortable use.
someone contact Bates!!@The Undecided
Steven is the only dhgate supplier that has been able to successfully produce the check valve element of the pump perc. Because of this, I don't believe any other dhgate supplier would be able to produce this piece properly.
@Ratchett has expressed interest in having one of my other designs produced domestically. That, or a similar route, is probably the best chance the Cobra Can has of being realized at this point.
After seeing your sketch i was hoping you could sketch one up that's more explainable to Steve or someone. However also since you already have a rapport with them I was wondering if you could recommend it?? Maybe we could come up with something similar but a tad different. Looking closely it looks like there are turbines in there too!@wildything
I would love to have my designs produced domestically. Unfortunately, I don't possess the connections or funds necessary to commission that kind of work. If you do, or know someone who does, know that all the designs I've posted are free and available to be used by anyone who wishes to do so.
@Cannabis Connoisseur
That piece does look really nice. I wasn't able find one for sale, or even a function video. I don't know if any Dhgate supplier could do this piece justice, but the best bets would be Steven and CCG. Steven produces a lot of mobius style stufff, and a lot of recyclers/incyclers. CCG also produces matrix type pieces, and the function on their recent FTK release looks to be top notch.
If you do submit the design to a supplier, let us know who you contacted and what the response is.
It wouldn't be difficult to construct a piece similar to the one @Stu posted, using a matrix perc like the fc-187.
The "up" tube could be located inside the down tube, and exit through the bottom of the perc, like is done with incyclers. Only instead of terminating at the bottom of the perc, the tube would continue through to the base joint.
Would it make sense to have a hollow base with the second joint, but no perc? It could act both as a stand when using in the "tube" mode, and as a base when using in the "bubbler" mode. It would also get the second joint off the tube, for a simpler design.
Edit: I drew up a quick sketch, since it's hard to explain this stuff well with only words.
CCG is working on the three-piece convertible design from the last page.
This is the first prototype. Some issues have already been addressed- including the bottom joint needing to be capped, changing the perc to a matrix, and obviously the mouthpiece and base still need to be made.
Otherwise, hopefully this is good.
Wow, that looks really great. Any updates?Sounds good, will do.
The three piece was just a quick and dirty sketch I drew up in response to discussion over in the "open source glass" thread. I was really looking forward to it as a complement to the Cobra can- the interchangeability would have been awesome.
The Cobra Can would be a pump-perc base/dry tube/mouthpiece. The three-piece will be a dry base/matrix tube/mouthpiece. Those two pieces together would allow for 8 different total combinations- that's like 8 bubblers for the price of two.
I've quoted the two most relevant posts about the three-piece below
WOW! You could talk me into 200$ for that thing on AqualabsThese are photos of rattlecan V2 prototype. The perc will be cut at a steeper angle for production, but other than that it's ready and should be listed sometime soon.
The bottom section is dry, so it shouldn't add any chug.
There should be a function video soon, so we'll be able to see how it works. I think it will be good.
