Looks like the flower/leaf style addition is more of a splashguard so you can fill the water higher and get more diffusion while keeping the uptake tube not overflowing. That being said I do see some potential with the piece in that now they have the skills to input a splashguard that developed shows promise that they can create a proper ball rig knockoff or a solid klein (my complaints here are with a non-angled mp and not 90 degree joint) with relative ease in the future.

This video has me hyped up about the pillar.

I'd like to see a water test video of that piece. It looks interesting, but kind of out of proportion. The can is HUGE and everything else is really thin.
That first video you posted. Wow. That is exactly what I want. The video production was high quality, so it even made it look sexier. How much is the originL piece?

If it didn't rattle, it'd be sick. I like how the funnel is part of the can, instead of being completely external.

I wonder if moving glass like that is at risk of chipping tho.

Yea, that video is really nicely done. Very high quality resolution too.

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
it doesnt really look like a tree perc to me but something does seem odd about it
Aesthetically speaking of course not function, looks like a tree perc that is connected at base with no slits to me. :hmm::shrug:

The difference between this one and the previous prototype, is that this one bubbles up in the little glass chamber everyone wanted, and the last one had a fountain effect. There is no way to get both. This one definitely works more like an authentic pillar perc tho, and the fix of the matrix perc placement on the bottom, has allowed more bubbles to flow through the pillars, as predicted.

Personally, I think both versions look awesome.

I see what is meant by the tree perc comment in that the pillars into the top is a very similar structure. I think this is a good thing if it allows a similar technique they're already familiar with to incorporate it into production.

They are getting closer, :clap:but it looks like they went a lil too far down or their water levels are off.

Is there anything you're going to suggest to him? I was thinking now that the water doesn't shoot up so high the top section could be shorter? Not sure though the video doesn't show it too well. Looks pretty good to me, I know I'm going to be opening my wallet.

New prototype Matrix Pillar.
(Already asked for a water test to see how it performs.)

*Note
-New pillar perc
-Matrix perc lowered to allow more bubbling for the classic pillar look where bubbles are flying up and down.

Any comments?

Now THAT looks like some epic pillar function! Count me back in for one from the first round of production. Thanks @EverythingsHazy!

Water level just looks a bit low to me :2c:

I say we keep the new design though because the mini pillar won't have the ring so it will shoot water straight up unlike this one. That way we have one of each style :)

I've already mentioned that the new glass splash chamber (what was just added) above the pillars should be a little bit smaller, and that the pillars should be a tiny bit taller too (there will be more room with a smaller splash chamber).

Is it possible to get a vid from a little further back? It would be better if we could see what's happening in the top portion...

I'll get another video on the final sample hopefully within a couple days, but he is changing the neck since they put the wrong one on that last piece, so that's probably why he didn't film that part. You can see the part where the water bubbles into the top a little bit tho, and with their water level and draw speed, it doesn't splash around the top much at all.

Welcome back aboard @Erwin

I think pillar pieces can be used with various water levels and draw speeds for different effects, because I've been watching a bunch of pillar videos recently, and sometimes, there is a lot of spashing in the top chamber, all the way up to the neck, and then other times there is none.
0:40 (lots of splashing on a water test) 1:00 (a bit of splashing on a smoke hit) 1:30 (not even sure if any water got pulled up through the pillars in that hit... BUT, it has a sick volcano plume effect)

Also, just so everyone remembers, this piece is going to be available for purchase for just under 6% of the price of an authentic pillar piece. SIX PERCENT. That means you can buy a full sized pillar, and two backups of it, for a total of less than 1/5th the price of a similar (easily breakable as with all glass) Sovereignty piece.
Unless you are willing to spend $1000+ on one piece, a pillar, let alone an 8-arm-pillar, would normally be out of the question. So keep that in mind when the final piece is unveiled and sold.
