Custom CARBLESS VapCap Ti stems

Just a dude
Hey my friend, nobody (or their wishes) is worth your body parts. I wasn't sure why neobium was desirable for a body/stem in the first place? Titanium is plenty strong and exotic enough for our purposes. I know you like challenges and trying new materials/techniques but you're wise in this case to know when to stop. :peace:

Wow that purple and green niobium stem is so amazing! I love that color combo with that texture, what a beaut! All of your stems are so lovely, but my favorite colors are green and purple.
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties working with it. No one can blame you for being safe, man. No one wants to lose any fingers, and no accessory is worth that risk, either.

Hey remember it's just a hobby. We love your work. But we love you being around more!

Thank you all for the understanding !

Well ,today is actually a bad day for me .
Almost had a serious accident .

A 45 mm OMNI body did not went as I want it
( I 've anodised it more than 4 times and still
I get some weird spots here and there. :cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss::cuss: ) .
Most probably,I've to make a new one ,for that member.

And then I 've tried to make an XL stem, for another FC member.
She wanted a two-tone hammered texture with pink on the
hammered areas and gold on the ridges ...
Well ,I did the pink ,polished the ridges and anodised them gold.
And guess what ?
The pink had turned into purple already !

Arggghhhh ! I want to bite some tubing ,chew it really good
and make a big bubble out of it .
:cuss::mad::disgust::bang::shit:

Anyway ..Me thinks it's quite difficult to achieve certain hue combinations ,
especially without masking ,like at that particular case .

Here is the stem .I hope she likes it the way it is .

Cheers.

Here's the 45 OMNI body ,that has been unable to be anodised correctly.
It seems that I've trouble with spots in green hue.
I really do not know why.I did everything ,like all the other times.
You can notice the spots on the DYNAVAP faceted green body also.
Well, definately is not my day ,today ...
:(

Cheers.

The FC member who wished for a Niobium stem
-with which ,while working on it,I've came very close into losing couple of fingers-
originally wanted a 62 mm stem for a spinning-blackwood-mp VC .
He wished it to be a banded one ,with Tree-bark texture ,two black plain rings on each side ,carbless and anodised to a turquoise/caribbean seawater,as preferred hue.

But when he was informed about my mishappens ,he pm me :
"
Hi!
Im sorry to hear that you had a close call with my stem! I truly am!
Im wondering (sorry about my persistance!) would it be possible to make a plain niobium stem with sandblasted/rock texture, (if it is safe to make the texture) without any banded grooves on the stem and fully anodized without the need of any contrast between bright metal and anodized part?
Would this make it doable without any risk of accidents?
I just would love to have a extra special stem made of a material I have never posessed.
I hope you dont feel I am pushing you in any direction and If you say it is a no-go I fully understand.
Regards and again I am sorry for your bad experience!

"

Now,in what way can I respond to that request ?
Don't know what to say !
He must 've pressed my button !
Had to revisit his Niobium stem .

So ,my dear brother ,here you are ...

Gave the best of me -as always - and I hope that you are going to like it !

Still, this the last Nb stem ,I've made,
at least until I get proper machinery & tools ,for the job .

Cheers.

I can live with needing new tools every now and then .
Because Niobium really eats up my tools.
But I can't cope with 9 or 8 fingers.
please don't place yourself in harm's way on our account. Fingers and eyes and most of our human parts don't grow back. We love your stems but we love you more. ;)

Regarding the Omni stem, I wonder if the off color bits are actually flaws in the titanium causing pitting to appear when anodized.

No ,that is not pitting .
It's like dirt spots(they are not of course) that they won't come off !
Maybe can be impurities (concentrated in spots/areas ) inside the Titanium crystal matrix .
It happens sometimes.

Wow! Those are truly a piece of art. Uh, I think you need an insignia, monogram , something says made by you. Like when an artist signs they're work.
Have thought of that ,too.
But no.I prefer my stems without any marks on them .
They way they are made and the way they look are my " insignia ".

Cheers.

This is how pitting on Titanium ,looks like:

Few drops of ordinary tap water ,contaminating the anodising electrolyte ,
are enough to cause this .
The Chlorine ions -inside tap water-are the main cause of this .
Note that this happens only under quite a lot of electric potentional ( =at high voltage ).
Otherwise Titanium is immune to tap water and chlorine .

Do you run condensers in these?.

Sorry if it's a daft question I use my m with carb hole covered with electricians tape. And I'm interested in one of your stems but not sure what would suit me best..

I was going to buy an omni xl but quite wanted an exotic tip and can't use one on the omni condenser so then I thought I'd buy the omni xl then a ss xl condenser and an exotic tip.

But now I've seen these but not 100% on the condenser set up etc...

Cheers sorry for the rambling first post here and really quite medicated..

I'm not sure ,if I understand correctly your question ..

The stems I make are sold without any kind of condenser.
Just the stem.
Still,of course they need a condenser to operate properly.

What is an exotic tip ?
I'm aware of exotic wood mouthpieces ,but I do not know anything of exotic tips .

Cheers.

Ha ha yeah it was mouthpieces I meant.

I've understand its just the stem you make/sell but I have heard of people running vapcaps with no condenser not sure of results or reasons.

So if I wanted to buy one of your stems I'd either need.

To buy one at a size to use an xl condenser to accommodate an exotic mouthpiece.

Or if I didn't want to use the exotic mouthpiece I'd need a stem solely at a size to use an xl condenser..

Ha ha I make no sense but it's reight in my head..

Cheers

What I do is order condenser s from Dynavap ( 10 bucks) and use those with my s d s stems. Fit perfectly, or u can use it condenserless , I just prefer using them . Cheers. D

A 62 mm stem fits : an OMNI XL system
OR a standard SS condenser without a spin-mp.
OR an XL SS condenser with spin-mp.

A 79 mm XL stem fits only an XL SS condenser without spin-mp.
