Cost for MMJ Card?

Not sure this is the right forum for this question, but my state is in the process of going legal for MMJ. I found a pain clinic and they want $200 for an appointment plus $100 for an annual card. Does this rate sound legit, or should I wait and see if different clinics have competing rates as the market heats up?

I pay about $90 a year for my doctors visit in Colorado. That sounds a little high to me but perhaps where you live it's competitive.

WA state checking in... I pay $90 for a doctors yearly visit. The state charges $1 for a Medical cannabis card and I get put on a registry. I get sales tax is all off the prices of my products, that equals about 8%. So I save $8 on a hundred dollars. Our edibles are very expensive here and if you make your own edibles and don't grow it makes it worth the cost. A product like RSO is expensive. We have recreational here as well. Recreational users have to pay the sales tax.

You may have competing cannabis clinics looking for your business. It may cost more in the beginning because of supply and demand. Meaning there might not be many clinics but I have no idea. You will have to do some investigating like calling around and looking online. NORMAL is a good resource and Americans for Safe Access. You probably have both or at least one organization around in your state.

New Mexico: I pay $90/year for medical and paperwork.

$200 for a physical and another $100 for doing your paperwork sounds steep. Depending on your state it might be a good deal or even the only game in town.

For me it's $50 to the state of MA, then $200 to my cannabis specialist. The $200 could be avoided if I used my Neurologist instead, but I haven't asked him since the timing is always off.

Make sure your doctors offer post-visit consultations. Mine does well to discuss medical cannabis/natural remedy options via email whenever questions or concerns arise. The best advise I can give is look for a holistic medicine doctor. Mine is a M.D. (urologist) which ended up being a good pairing as I've dealt with quite a bit of urology issues throughout my life. He got me taking turmeric and a pre/probiotic to assist with my GERD alongside THC/CBD supplements and I've dropped prilosec completely.

Sometimes the extra money is worth it. There are a lot of doctors that are mostly looking to make money and once the visit is over, they're done with you. :thumbs down:

I'm in Maryland and they just opened up our patient registry and expect dispensaries to open in a few months from now or so.

Most "regular" Dr's in Maryland will NOT join the physicians registry and hence give patient certifications. In Maryland you need a registered Doc to certify your condition in the state's database (they link their cert with your patient record and you are good to go). Typical prices for Dr.'s who have registered and are willing to give out certs (if justified) are in the $200-$250 range. Basically an office visit without insurance.

In Maryland, the patient certification needs to be renewed annually.....I think with my Dr, it was $250 initially and follow-ups are $150. However, after initial cert, she has worked with me via email to get my cert in place with the state and not tried to churn more money out of me.

I expect this to go down in future years as the program grows and there is some competition among Dr/clinics.

After 50 years of skulking about with MJ, it is SO worth it to me to be legal for once.

Cheers

My doctor and my healh insurance Kaiser Permanente don't issue cannabis authorization prescriptions. I go to a cannabis clinic. They have quite a set up. It only takes 15 min.

I bring in my documentation from my doctor visits and any testing or hospitalization throughout the year. Any labs or X-rays that pertain to my medical condition that allows cannabis as well.

Edit
At the clinic I've seen naturopaths and nurse practitioners as well as a doctor authorizing for medical cannabis at the clinic that I go to. The first couple of times I saw a naturopath the last time I saw a doctor.

I have extensive medical files with the VA that pretty much guaranteed me an "approved" under state law. I don't need or want a canna-doc that is providing services outside of certifying I still qualify.

I go in to a not for profit once a year for 20 minutes or so and the doc goes back over everything; end of story. You can pay a LOT more in NM by going to a pain clinic or a canna-doc.

Just checked the current laws. Their is currently no fee in Nm to apply or for the card its self. For $90 a year I expect to continue using a service fro a variety of reasons. A NM grow license is $30, free if you make <200% of federal poverty.

Krazy,
The first year I paid $80 for a 15 minute MD cannabis specialist visit which included my letter of recommendation. The 2nd and 3rd years the renewal visit lasted 5 minutes and cost $60. This year there has been an increased presence of online/Skype MDs and it cost $40 to renew. This is in California, and the state card isn't required, just a letter from an MD.

NYS here.

$250 for my initial consultation, and then I believe it's $150.

However, I have now also been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (as well as my Crohn's), so I'm going to go to a Rheumatologist that does medical marijuana, and see if I can get him to renew, instead of paying the fee.

I actually picked mine up in CA for free at a music festival, Enchanted Forest Gathering, they did the consult with the DR on the spot, had my rec emailed to me within 20 mins and i made it back to camp with just over half an ounce of pretty high end oils and wax and several vape pens.....all free from the sponsors of the prop 215 area of the festival and apparently there are a bunch of festivals they do it at.

Im actually in NV where things are much more of a hassle, $30 for the application, find the doc, pay him whatever for the consult, pay or find a free notary public to notarize the application you filled out with the doc, then $75 a year to the state.

But both CA and NV are now medical and recreational, the hassle is less an issue.

Yep, the result of good competition. Don't have that here in MD yet.
It's coming. The company I used here in California (HelloMD) just started operating in New York recently, and they hope to expand to more states this year. Even if it's not specifically them, I think the online recs and renewals are the future for the industry. It took maybe a half hour between filling out the form, uploading a pic of my ID, and connecting with a doctor. And I didn't have to go anywhere. And neither does the doctor, nor do they need an office or a staff, just a computer. So it's cheaper and easier for everyone by design.
