Cory Glass Designs re/incyclers - high function and affordable?

I wouldn't be worried @Deja Vu Cory did say to me that he makes sure every vortex is up to par before he sends it out, and has scraped them plenty before when they weren't up to his standards. I know I will NEVER get tired of seeing this, another good Saturday with the cycler

Edit- @syrupy what work was missing on your piece, and how does it look otherwise? Still a return unfortunately?

Without getting into specifics until a resolution is nearer... how can I put this? You know the parts that make the difference between scientific and worked? Those are the missing parts. :/ Hard to believe he could have borked that accidentally :ugh:, but who knows. In terms of function I have no complaints. Clean lines as expected, strong whirlpool. A few cosmetic issues but those happen. He paired a fat can with a long restricted mouthpiece that allows maximum ripping with nothing but vapor going into the mouth. Little drag. On a titanium skillet it will draw beyond a few lungful.

But I've said too much...:ninja:

I'd rather destroy it than return it, but it's his decision. Let's call it a mega-scientific nearly-heady recycler with a worked price tag.

@Deja Vu, it's not that I'm ignoring you... oh hell, yes, you're on my ignore list so I didn't see your posts until someone pointed them out to me in pm. Let me be very clear, I am not posting photos for you because I purposely don't want to give you any impression that I desire your efforts in my business.. It's REALLY not appropriate for you to try to get involved here, but I understand you had good intentions. The people who have my back have seen the pictures, they've seen the water test, the first dab, even the agreed upon order. But I wouldn't feel right posting them at the moment and promoting the work and the brand while my transaction remains incomplete.

Yeah that's fine, no worries. It was just purely for curiosity and to inspect defects or things to look out for in the event that mine has similar ones. This will be my absolute first glass piece ever. That's the only reason I asked. Peace.

I hear you. I'm guessing each transaction is different. Mine got funky, but I don't know that yours will. The only point I could make isn't to assess anyone's risk, but to note that if there are problems, my experience is resolving them might be difficult.

One thing I will mention that people might find helpful. Of the two recyclers I've seen somewhat up close, both have unusually narrow bridge supports. Mine has a good distance between the can and the male joint, which I'd prefer to keep heat away, but the support looks thin to my eye. Based on the length of the male joint stem and the stable base of the can, I doubt the support will get much work.

I wouldn't spend much time compiling lists of potential flaws @Deja Vu . A question I would pose to you is, what would you do if there's a problem? How will that track? Hell I could drive to go see Cory if I had to but you're a world away. It's got to be tough on "international" buyers because I imagine sending a piece back is too costly to be an option.

First piece huh? You certainly dived in the deep end! Sorry if my posts appear too negative but this pollyanna naive wishful thinking stuff is only getting expectations way up in the stratosphere. Glass is great, and getting custom work done is awesome. But I've learned there are too many good blowers hiding in every corner of IG to hook up with anyone that doesn't feel like a good fit or sets off warning bells.

If my transaction completed in some way that doesn't involve me sacrificing virgins to a volcano I'd be happy to post big happy smiley pony emoticons, and lots of pictures, plus my personal notes and observations on what makes Cory's recyclers tick. Ideally we'd go for a re-blow but my gut tells me that's not going to happen. For some sellers, the transaction is "over" once they spend the money. :shrug:I'm pretty creative with options and workarounds, so hopefully the two of us can work something out.

Edit: to end on a 'high' note, I did knock the poor recycler over, and it's clear the bridge support is tucked away so that it would hardly be at risk.

Edit 2: What is the average can height and width on people's CGD recyclers? Mine looks like the Hulk.

recycling chamber will differ from piece to piece because of size. the chamber on my alien tech is very small becuse it has to match the water can. and all of this is matched with the intake joint.

bigger joint...bigger piece... bigger recycle chamber to accommodate the water volume.

I have a 14mm male oil rig. so it recycles very fast but still maintains a whirlpool quite well (recyclers really dont "vortex" imo Gordos discs vortex! but w/e)

I digress... if you chose a larger 18mm female joint the whole piece is likely larger.

Weak. Well damnit I guess I will stop asking questions about it, I just keep hoping it will just work itself out but not looking good unfortunately.

My main can is about 4.5" wide by 5.5" tall. 2nd can is about 3"X3". These are estimates using a 3.5" grinder haha sorry in the middle of moving and no idea where half my stuff is

@farscaper I just meant the main can and return chamber. My bad, in the middle of packing up the house for the move

Don't let that beauty of a recycler out of your sight for a SINGLE MOMENT. I'd carry it with me like a brinks money bag. And watch out for those gremlins who come out to steal stuff during people's moves!

Good post. Thanks for replying. I would message him straight away with a picture of it and say 'It broke during transit! Can you help out?'
Pray for a reply within atleast 2 weeks so that I don't lose sanity. I don't even want to consider that! I hope it gets here safely (in a box)
