So I have made gummies and my friend made hard candies. The key is to decarb the shatter before adding it. I decarb on a double boiler for up to an hour but there are different ways depends on what temp then you adjust the time and oil is easier to decarb because .
Nope reclaim or abv oil is fully activated! lucky for uDo all concentrates need to be decarbed prior to infusing (I use coconut oil)?
Someone recently gave me some wax "ABV", which I assume would be pre-decarbed like flower ABV. It did quickly dissolve in hot oil.
Depends on the process by which the oil is processed. But I have tried to skip the decarb step and it was not potent at all. I would definitely decarb the oil! It is very easy to see when it's done. Also decarbing past the peak point of decarb will create heavy effects. Under decarb tends to create more sedative bit it's all strain dependant and other variables depending on quality of the oil.So the same friend wants to use some wax concentrate directly to make some edibles, and my question comes back - does wax need to be decarbed before mixing it into an edible oil? (Assume that the oil will only be heated for a very short time). I guess what I am essentially asking is - can you eat straight wax and get THC without decarbing first?

I have had abv wax that is probably just as strong as the starting wax so it all depends on the strength to begin with. But if you want to maximize potency you will need to decarb. I usually have to decarb from 30 to 60 minutes or more on a double boiler since it keeps the temp lower. So you closely look for bubbles starting to form everywhere as it gets to temp then it will subside proetty suddenly when it is at the peak. You are good at this point. Also a good portion of the terps and smells will be lost at the this point so that is usally also a god indicator. If I heated the coconut oil with the wax on a dbl-boiler for an hour, would that decarb the wax?
How do you know it's done decarbing?
Working with the ABV-wax was easy - it just dissolved in the warm coconut oil - and it made killer chocolates . If I can do this right, I'd imagine that using "unused" wax would be much stronger...
TIA !

I should have just gave you the link where I learned everything about decarbing. http://skunkpharmresearch.com/decarboxylation/Spectacular! This is exactly what I needed to know. It's what I was planning on doing, but I was a bit hesitant since it's not my wax I'd be experimenting with
Much appreciated info!
I tried this recipe this past weekend and it worked out great! Here you go.

I had given up on this caramel.. it kind of leveled off but now its kicking back in. Thinking it was about done, I went upstairs and had a 10mg gummy. Gonna be a VERY interesting night when that kicks in.
