cleaning whip tubing

Has anyone ever tried to clean a whip using a gun cleaning kit? (Before folks jump I am not going to use any of the gun solvents or oils)

If I lived in the USA and could just go to wal-mart to get a cleaning kit I would, but to get one from the USA would only be worthwhile if I am pretty sure it would work.

I know that whip tubing is available for cheap, but I don't want to loose all that gooey stuff in the tube.

This is probably better than a gun cleaning kit. The hard brushes designed for getting lead and gunpowder off will probably damage the whip.

In opinion, alcohol should not be used. The material, whether it be food grade PVC or a silicone is degraded by alcohol to some degree.
In my own experiences alcohol reacts with PVC and dries it out making it crack, and medical grade silicone will carry a scent of ISO even after it's thoroughly rinsed and left to dry. I did this once and ended up throwing out the whip cause I couldn't trust the nasty ISO odour.
I just soak the whip in warm water and use a lightly abrasive pipe cleaner, no need for chemicals.

I was only considering using the pieces to make a long handled "squeege" (similar to what you posted.) I would not use the bristles, just the two pieces that can be used to apply a solvent (iso or ethanol) and the piece that cleans the "bore" in our case the tube.
