Cleaning Vaporizer - Canned Air Problem

Hi!

I recently tried to clean my Venus Vaporizer.
http://venusvaporizer.com/shop/image/cache/data/kirkasvenus-900x900.jpg

Without further thinking I used canned air to clean the nets and the hole where the tube leaves from.

While spraying I noticed that some kind of liquid was leaked to the hole and afterwards the whole hole smelt like gas.. I red that canned air can be really dangerous and harmful when inhaling it.

So is it dangerous to use my vaporizer now? Will the chemicals of canned air attack to my lungs while I'm vaporizing?

Really need help with this.. :S

That can of air contains Propane/Butane which is the gas you can smell.

& it probably wont be the same type of clean_Butane(which has it's own inhalation concerns) used for solvent extraction ...so there might be other non-evaporating residues involved.

If it was me, I wouldn't take the risk without first stripping the vape down to its parts & giving it a thorough clean then finish with a long factory-burnoff to remove any remaining nasty residues.

Definitely can't hurt to give it a good cleaning with iso then a burn off but the propane/butane is a propellant and will evaporate quickly, there may be some contaminants in the air itself that could be in there but I wouldn't worry much about that, probably fewer than the dust that settles in there from packing the bowl. Also the liquid you saw is most likely condensation, compressed air rapidly cools as it expands which cools anything you spray it on and can cause condensation or even frost if you spray the same spot long enough.

The statement about it being harmful if inhaled is most likely on there so they can't be sued when some kid dies huffing it.

I think it's more likely on there because inhaling chemical fumes(other than oxygen) is generally considered harmful & best avoided by most rational people.

The butane date sheet only says its harmful so they can't be sued when some kid dies huffing it ...this idea seems to get reasonable mileage on the internet, particularly in Is bho safe? type threads & usually promoted by bho fan boys with little or no science background....the facts are we don't really know what kind of Butane or other chemicals have been added to this particular brand of compressed air.

You're right we don't but the point of compressed air is to clean sensitive electronics, any additives should evaporate leaving no residue or else it would be no good for electronics and I said nothing about bho or inhaling butane, in fact I said the exact opposite, it will evaporate quickly, especially when left by itself in the open instead of in a solution which can trap it.

Another thing, warnings are put on labels on products in the us specifically so manufacturers, retailers, etc cannot be sued when their product is used in a manner other than directed. No one would intentionally put anything bad about their product on a label unless required to, that's marketing 101

Electronics are already covered in various chemical residues before you even break the seal...they are more robust than you might think.

It's safe for electronics it must be safe for humans to heat & inhale ...is never going to fly.

Those warnings are not just about a fear of lawsuits ...the manuf has to adhere to certain safety regulations in order to use/sell certain chemicals.

Datasheets are not bomb proof either ..I have come across 2 in the last 3 months which contain suspicious errors, I've contacted both manufs, one was changed & then changed again 2 weeks later to muddy the waters inline with their marketeering the other sheet still stands even though the company has admitted via mail it's wrong ....interesting thread on Skunkpharma about Greywolf contesting a datasheet after evaping a brand of butane only to find harmful residues left behind which were not listed on the manuf datasheet.

I said nothing about bho or inhaling butane
I never said you did ...but I did say the following paraphrased idea does appear in bho safety type threads: The butane date sheet only says its harmful so they can't be sued when some kid dies huffing it, so it's more than a little odd that it appears here in a thread about compressed air, it seems to be one of the stock responses to any safety concerns regarding Butane inhalation, .....it misleads people into thinking inhaling butane is only dangerous when huffed but is probably safe as a cannabis pollutant.
