Any suggestions how to go about this? Do I just melt the shatter into the melted chocolate? I've only made chocolates with abv and moka pot before.
Ive got some IsoOil I want to make into chocolates when I'm off, as well as some Rosin I had mixed in I may even open a gram of shatter and mix it in. can you help me with the steps to decarb the concentrates please?
Take your shatter and place it on some parchment paper, fold the sides to create some side walls so the shatter won't melt and move off of the parchment. Put the parchment on a small baking sheet and put into a 275F preheated oven. Set your timer for 5 mins and turn the light on in the oven. Watch the decarboxylation process occur as the shatter starts to bubble. Once the large bubbles stop, continue to watch the oil for the smaller bubbles to stop (probably need to open the oven door to see this). Once the bubbles are stopped, generally between 5-7 minutes is how long it takes. Your shatter is now decarbed and ready to infuse into your recipe.
I highly recommend to use sunflower lecithin in the infused mixture as it has been known to assist in the absorption of THC during the digestive process. I use 1 1/2 tsp per gram of concentrate. I generally add this to the warmed butter or oil along with the decarb'd shatter and wisk to incorporate, then add that mixture to the recipe.
Make sure you do the math so you know your doses. 1 gram of 70% THC shatter is going to have roughly 700mg of THC. If you're shooting for 20mg doses, you just divide the 700mg total THC by the desired dose size, in this example you get 35x 20mg THC doses. Look at the recipe you want to use and try and determine how big or small you want the edibles to be. I personally recommend against using normal chocolate bars like hershey's and instead use the bakers melts like wilton candy melts as they harden up better after being heated up, especially with some added fat like the THC infused oil/butter. You can use something like a silicone ice tray to uniformly make your doses.
I did as above, decarbing etc . I find its still really sticky, and was difficult to get all of it in the chocolate mixture. Maybe because it was a small batch? Maybe I didn't decarbing long enough?
Here's my latest batch of chocolate medibles. 1gr Mazar wax, 12oz of vanilla candy melts, 2 drops green food coloring, 1 Tbsp. Melted Butter, and 1 tsp of sunflower lecithin. Decarb'd the wax at 275F for about 7 mins, then infused into some hot melted butter, added that to a double boiler with the sunflower lecithin, heated until good and infused, then added the candy melts. The dark color of the oil/butter/lecithin will infuse the vanilla candy melt so you can see the even distribution. Once incorporated, add 2 drops of food coloring (if wanted) then blend. I transfered the hot chocolate mixture to a plastic piping bag and filled 32 candy molds. Chilled in freezer until set, then put in bag with some confectioners sugar. These are approx 20mg each.
I thought you couldnt use iso oil in food, only vaping.what am i misunderstanding?I noticed that said for Shatter, does this work the same With IsoOil as well as Rosin???
I thought you coould only vape iso oil?am i missing something?I noticed that said for Shatter, does this work the same With IsoOil as well as Rosin???
Thanks for your reply but i am not asking about shatter(on purpose at least),i thought i read somewhere on FC that you couldnt ingest iso oil orally, only smoked or vaped.or am i confused about what iso oil is?im assuming its reclaim made with isopropynol?anyway can you use iso oil in cooking then or not?i wouldnt want to vape iso oil but i would 100% cook with it if that was possible!@Larrytargeteye Shatter is a concentrate like wax but it’s the consistency of a soft or med Carmel candy and the same sort of color. Some is more clear than others. Some shatter is more hard than others. I use shatter between my herb in my vaporizer once in a while. Shatter needs to be decarbed before using it in edibles.
I don’t know enough about how it’s made but all that info is online.
