Cheap Chinese e-Nail thread

:science: So I'm finally dabbing now... kind of.

My previous experience is sublimate through my apollo sublimator, as well as with my ssv flavor oil kit. It was fun but the novelty wore off. I've never even tried proper concentrates before, but soon I will put together a heated rosin vice press with some of @Joel W.'s plates so that will be changing shortly.

I have also started using a two-screen setup on my ssv, which means that what used to be wand hash has evolved to pretty much the same thing as sublimate; it's much better than wand hash imo. I'm in a newly legal state, and hoping we will actually get some top-rate retail shatter or something at some point.

My only other dabbing experience is I tried torching a cheap glass nail once and overdid the heat, so the dab exploded and that was that; I decided that I wanted an e-nail. I have a small stash of sublimate so I decided to start shopping. I almost bought a cheap flat coil setup from a USA seller, but I got cold feet and he sold out temporarily so I did some more homework. In reflection, that setup would have been just fine.

But it was just one of myriad options at dhgate when I looked around the interwebs, where I found that many domestic companies were selling marked-up chinese controllers, coils and nails. Some of them re-packaged the electronics and even did some customization to the way they work, but mostly it was just new labeling and added warranties if that. There are some exceptions, like the errlectric and auber controllers and coil setups. The aubers are more affordable, but they seem to need manual biasing to match the coil to the controller; the chinese ones have "auto-tuning" which sounded better to me.

I stuck with the flat coil idea, and grabbed a pelican-like case/controller that will may end up being a backup unit but maybe not. The case is nice for on the go and to protect small glass parts, but it takes a lot of space during actual use. Luckily my coffee-table setup has a nice cubbyhole to slide the case into. It turns on and locks into 710f automatically, and looks to easily adjustable but I haven't yet. It comes with instructions. 710f seems to work just fine for my needs (it holds temp at 709-712f).

Finally the nail(s); I haven't used the "grade 2" ti coil/cap that cam with the controller because I wold rather dab from quartz/ceramic/sic. I bought a cheap cap on carb cap on amazon and bought the two quartz hybrid universal nails that you see below. I haven't used the offset one yet, just the regular one with a glass drop-down from ebay. Then I bought five extra quartz dishes from a domestic seller, total investment ~$200 including shipping (without the extra stuff you see that I haven't mentioned specifically).

I would love to have a $650 errlectric controller and a $350 nail as much as the next fc-er, but maybe not as I am wondering how much better it could be. My results have been stunning so far, but I'm very new at this so what do I know lol. This is working very well, and the learning curve so far has been minimal.

Glad to see you finally got into an enail setup my friend! :D I remember having a blast with sublimate, using better screenage even in flower vapes as you say really pays off for nicer reclaim/avb oil!

Getting a flat coil means the world is your oyster when it comes to all manner of nice nails too, anytime you wanna upgrade it'll be as simple as getting the nail and carb for the most part (unless you wanna use the liger or new d-nail 1.4 ti dish with sapphire insert of course).

Don't worry about missing out on the $350 nail scenario you describe too much - if it isn't sapphire, I would not spend that amount on any nail anyway (and there's no sapphire dish that is currently retailing to public anywho) ;)

You will find noticeably nicer flavor in some of the other options though, a SiC halo will give you a major durability boost, lower temp function (easier on your heater coils and energy bills) and better taste/quicker/thicker/fuller/more even vaping. The d-nail SiC halo can be had with a slim series base for $120. Carb will be another $55, or up to $75 depending on if you want a dabber tip included (you can just buy the cap and use your existing HE carb cap's screw in dabber like many of us did). Ceramic nails will provide many of the same benefits (not so much the durability though). Can be had super cheap!

The very best possible flavor will be found using titanium with a sapphire insert or a sapphire halo if you ever get the opportunity. It is unbelievable how much nicer sapphire tastes than quartz! Sapphire dabbing surfaces can function at lower temps than quartz which is no doubt a part of the benefit. Apparently d-nail have a new 1.4 ti dish that allows you to just dab on the new larger v1 sapphire insert without any titanium sides to watch out for accidentally smearing your dab on (does require a 20mm heater coil like the liger and many traditional nails though)! This entire setup with a new slim series base and the sapphire insert can be had for $140.

Man you are gonna be in heaven when you get that rosin press! If you haven't ever dabbed anything like that before, you're in for a treat!

So, I was gonna splurge on an Errlectric but its just not really in the cards right now....fortunately, my friend was selling these:

He was selling them super marked up to uneducated people ;) so I told him I didn't mind paying a bit more but to not play me a fool, he was real swell with it. Spent $120 on the kit so that's not too bad, basically expedited shipping :)

SO, there was an issue with it at first, it wasn't hitting temp at all.....he's sold like 20 of them, none have had problems from what I heard over the last few months. Something faulty with the box, he swapped me out though and this new one works just swell !

Running it at 710, pretty tasty, got it on a piece that is holding everything away so not too worried about glass breaking. Drops about 10-20 degrees depending on the size of the dab and the temp, I had it at 660 earlier and that really dropped when I dabbed on it.

It's flat coil so I'm looking to get either a quartz dish to screw ontop of the Chitanium base, or to get a fully Highly Educated setup. Birthday is in May so maybe I'll treat myself. I need to get some quartz though, as I much prefer it.

He has some portable enail rigs too....I think the Cloud Electros but I'm not sure. it has a TI nail though that you screw on.......I will ask to take some pictures next time I'm around, I forgot my phone. Looked pretty cool. I know saftey is a big thing wiht that, pretty sure I read that they have like teflon or something..idk I'm kinda speaking out my ass. Took me awhile to buy this enail though because I wasn't sure the saftey/quality.

That's the same kit I was originally looking at, that I posted about in the next generation e-nail thread. I think the one that I ended up going with is the same, except the controller is installed in a pelican case. I like the fact that it's more compact, but I also like the case lol. I agree about the quartz dishes, they seem to be the best value for clean-tasting dabs even if they're a pita to clean.

Those sapphire dishes sound amazing, but they cost more $ than our whole rigs do!

Sorry, can't tell from your post if you also bought the hybrid nail from Amazon, or if it came from elsewhere. I find the price on some of these nails is upsetting, so if you have a cheap hookup you can't plug, send me a PM. Otherwise, plug away!

I just took the plunge and ordered my first e-nail setup. Went with auber rdk 200 w/ hymanquartz 20mm coil and the hymanquartz banger w/enail coil hook and the other model on hymanquartz which I believe is like a domeless Quartz that people
Have said work with enail.

Any tips for first time enail user? I was planning on using this cheap
Chinese nails until I can resave up to get a good flat coil, dnail sic dish and sapphire insert.

Nice, I looked at the aubers and they seem like good units; I like the form factor of the new one. From what I've read, you may want to research the calibration factor or whatever it's called for your coil.

The nail that I'm using that came with the same dish is called universal, sorry I can't be of more help; because of a lack of experience and all I have is a flat coil. It sounds like you have the other type.

Here is something I learned today.

D-nail and Amazon both have heaters I was lookin at....but check the pin arrangement.

The Chinese Vape Code Box I got, I can't say for sure but by photos, seems like pins are arranged differently. The Dnail boxes have an arrangement that has all 5 of the pins more to one side....the one on mine is like a dice, everything seems evenly spaced. If that makes sense. On mobile so I can't link a photo.

That's a bummer tho. That said, I've been digging the enail a lot. Have an upgrade in the works (a new nail) will be back when I have it :)

Even if they do fit, if the pins are wired up differently it can break things or just not work. Most seem to work with D-Nail XLR though.

I saw that XLR mentioned a few times in terms of a pin configuration......I assume if a box, like some of the Auber ones, say they are XLR compatible, they would work with D-nail heaters, the ones on Amazone, etc?

Kinda screwed up getting one with a pin configuration that's beside the norm. Have not found one other heater that has a similar layout.

It sounds like it's an aviation plug, try searching for that. The XLR type is taken from audio equipment which have historically used them but they've been re-wired for our use. D-Nail uses a 5-pin XLR with the female end on the unit. 4-pin mini-XLR is used in a handful of smaller sized unit but the coils can be harder to find. Aviation plugs seem to be used even less than that. That said if you can solder and rewire a plug it you can just cut off the old connector and wire it to the new coil.
