Changing the Habit

I've been thinking on how vaporizing changes the habit of using herb. Instead of dumping ash, we dump ABV. I never carry a lighter with me anymore. Not having to deal with the lingering smell of smoke is great as well. I enjoy food much more with the vaporizer high than smoking, I can smell and taste about 10x stronger than I could when smoking, I believe. When I'm around someone's used pipe that's sitting out, I can smell the resin in the bowl. That's something that never bothered me before, I was used to that smell.

I also love how much easier it is to clean vape parts compared to pipes. When cleaning, I could always get a pipe "good enough". But my vape stuff I can keep spotless pretty much.

What are anyone else's thoughts on the changing of their habit/lifestyle whatever since vaporizing?

A very positive lifestyle change indeed. I know, what a breath of fresh air. You can smell the true scent of things now. Tasting your fav foods are better than ever. The smoking took so many of the simple things in life away. Worse yet I didn't even realize they were gone. I didn't even know that I missed them. Not a stinky pot smell anymore only the lovely aroma of cannabis. Im not so much in a fog while medicating.

Being able to vaporize on the trail and not have to worry about a stench to alert others of the noticeable pot smell. I just feel cleaner. No pot smoke smell in my nose or mouth or residue on my clothing.

I was constantly worried that I was affecting my health in a negative way. I eventually started coughing a bit in the morning. My dad had emphysema from cigarettes and died of that disease. I remember the mornings listening to my dad trying to catch his breath from his intense coughing. I knew I didn't want to end up like that. The gunk that I would clean out in the bottom of my pipe I would imagine was collecting up in my lungs.

With the help and support of my friends in the FC community I will be coming up upon 2 yrs without combusting in Jan. It took me a couple of weeks to feel fully satisfied with vaporizing. If you are contemplating stopping combustion you've come to the right website. Some of us are trying to spread the word to others one friend at a time. I feel very passionate about vaping I know others do too. Good luck with your quest to Fuckcombustion.

It's the best move I ever made. I enjoy my bud much more these days. Having recently gone back to combustion because of a broken vaporiser has made me realise just how great vaping is. The smell and taste is awful and the high just isn't the same anymore with combustion not to mention how wasteful it is with weed. I'll use easily twice as much from combusting it.

If I take more than one or two hits from a pipe, I get "smoked out" and the high sucks. Smoking makes my chest tight anymore, I'm pretty committed to vaping at this point. Just trying to find what works best for me.

I have a Solo as a main unit, M1Y1 model. My first vape was an MFLB last November. I just got a Firewood as something more portable than the Solo, but I wish I had just got a desktop for the time being. I'm looking at da Buddah after seeing the new Vapolution 3. That's an ugly piece, I hate to say it. Not appealing to me

Once I realized the Journey to Medicate can be a relaxing enjoyment in and of itself: the early pleasure of the product's taste; the slow ascent that gets you just as medicated compared to the "get me there as quick as possible" coughing lung explosive hits of my youth. Vaporization has taught me a new way to enjoy the process as much as the end result.

Still, my better vaporizers allow you to get "there" quicker: I generally choose the slower path. Not counting concentrate hits, which of course, get me there as quick as possible. Hmmm. Hypocrite much?

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.........

Can't believe I could ever taste herb when smoked, compared to the sweet aroma of vapor. Has switching to vaporizing changed anyone's habit socially? I know smoking was a very social thing for us in high school, and at college when I live in the dorms getting together to blaze was a big thing. Huge sessions were desired and epic. Some parties I was at we had night long sessions. Definitely couldn't smoke like that anymore.

I've introduced many friends to vapor, but they all still smoke.

I bought my first vape in high school due to the stealth appeal (MFLB). After using a flight box and combusting for about 3-4 years I decided to invest in a solo and my habit completely changed. With the flight box I felt that it took 30-45 min to get me where I liked to be, which wasnt a problem when we were sitting around in my friend's dorm room with the PA but wasnt ideal for hanging out socially as the MF has a somewhat steep learning curve. When I got my solo last year it was the first time where I was able to get where I wanted/needed without spending half my day in a sesh. I probably have smoked less than 15 times in the past year and half

I recently picked up an enano and that has changed my vaping habit even more, where I was once spending 30-45 min with the magic flight and later 12-24 min with the solo I can now spend 30-45 seconds getting medicated. Vaping has profoundly impacted my life and helped me to handle my depression and difficulty eating. I try to spread the knowledge, love, and positive energy harnessed from vaping with as many people as I can because if it changes even one persons life for the better I know it is all worth it!

i can relate to your college blazing experiences. huge, epic sessions, with loads of weed blazed. those were the times. :) but in hindsight also so much money wasted compared to vaping with the same intensity. :) i slowly convinced two of my friends to switch to vape only. now i'm not the only crazy guy anymore, who suddenly doesn't partake in joints. and it slowly catches on among the others. people i know start buying vaporizers. the epic weed sessions are coming back in form of vaping sessions. blowing our minds away with the volcano is soo much fun. :) going to parties with an mflb and a vapor lung is also good for socializing. :) and on top, we almost never run out of weed in the middle of the night. :)

I also noticed a change in my health. I love to go hiking. and while out on a steep hill i would get out of breath. i noticed a wheeze under my out of breathness. since converting to vapor only that wheeze is now gone.

less of a lingering smell is also great.

after it's been a while go back and smoke a j or what not. see how different it feels. it's a lot more heavy and you feel more stoned compared to the high you get from vapor. :) I noticed how much i hate the after taste of it now.

When I smoked heavily, I was constantly having to "catch" my breath, even when just sitting still. That's one thing I noticed that has gone away now

When I smoked heavily, I was constantly having to "catch" my breath

I used to smoke cigs and always blamed them for my morning congestion. But then I quit smoking and it continued.

It wasn't until I switched to vaping that my congestion had stopped.

I tell people all the time that vaping help conserve their stash, and that isn't the best part. You only have one set of lungs, treat them well.

Glad you found the way Skyscraper.

I agree. I completely quit combusting in January 2013. My habits are so different now. My knowledge of cannabis has increased a lot and I think I have developed into a high end user. Before that I was combusting hash out of a plastic bong and smoking a packet and a half of cigarettes a day. Some people miss certain rituals from their combustion days but I miss none of them to be honest. I really dislike anyone smoking anything anywhere near me these days.

Mmm.. Do you feel it may be good for your garden in any way citsylang?

Vaporizing is like having your cake and eating it too! You give up no opportunities in life vaporizing herb, however smoking there are things you give up, including your health.

Also, in my experience women have very fine tuned noses.. And being a smoker can be an instant turn off. Vaping keeps my enjoyment of cannabis much more in the background of my life

@Mr. Gweilo 420 : I can really relate to your point here. This was why it was so hard to quit cigarette smoking - my rituals! I started vaping weed and nicotine about the same time and health wise - my breathing is back to pre smoking days already in just a month.

The biggest difference with me was with quitting cigarettes and vaping my nicotine. My truck no longer smells like crap and my clothes no longer smell.

I hated the way my clothes smelled and my hair, hands and mouth! With vaping either herb, there is no aftertaste or smell and i love that!

I chuck my abv on the flower beds the plants don't seem to mind.

@cityslang : That is funny! I am sure they dont mind! However, there is absolutely NOTHING i throw away! Still collecting abv - (i am a light weight vaper) and i will cook with it when i have enough. And all the buds i make cococannabutter with end up in pasta sauce after infusion so far...in the end, it all gets eaten! No waste :)

@Skyscraper : I agree with everything you said especially this:"Vaping keeps my enjoyment of cannabis much more in the background of my life" :) Really great benefit!

i really hate it, when people come with the rituals bs. but those rituals fall apart at a closer look. first: there is the inconsistency of the rolled joints. half of "the ritualists" are not even able to roll a decent joint on their own. second: there is a good reason for the "don't boggart the joint my friend" song and one can observe it every time. third: the whole pass around thing is perfectly achievable with many vaporizers and if not, there is a luxury to supply everyone with a tasty first hit, when they get their own load.
what i noticed, vaping makes you embrace the spirit of sharing more than passing around a joint. since you use very little herb, you are not obsessed with keeping it to yourself and hiding it from others. :) yes, a lot of "ritualists" do it and there is the hypocrisy. but i learned my lessons and only share for vaporizing. combusters can go ask elsewhere. :)

unfortunately we need the combusters, as long as weed is illegal. only because of their huge consumption volume, dealers and growers are taking the risks of the trade. vaporists are bad clients for their business. haven't seen my budprovider in months. :)

I just hate being tied down to one spot. All my vaporizers are desktop models, I really want something portable. I wanna be able to go in my room, or outside, or on the couch like I can with a pipe.

lotus lotus lotus :p :D

Considering it! I've been waiting for the Grasshopper to come out before I decide but I'm getting a bit anxious. Firefly also seems nice.

Get yourself a Solo off of Puffitup for $160 with free shipping. An @Ed's TnT mouthpiece to make it a true portable. Vape on.

Also the new Indica "Noir".

I don't know why I didn't just get a Solo a long time ago. i guess I wanted something I could stick in my pocket, but the Solo size would probably be fine since Im mostly at home.

you should probably check out the vapman thread for a flame powered unit. the basic version isn't that expensive at all. the mflb is a true champion in the stealth department and also really affordable. plus - nothing beats their fantastic customer service and the life long warranty. life long means as long as you live.:) most other electric portables only give around two years.
