CBD VS THC The Good, the bad , and the Ugly

What have you found as a user regarding CBD strains VS THC strains.

Just curious to get everyones thought.

My son feels he can't smoke weed anymore because after 6 months of medicated use of 0.5 grams per day (previously he took it for 2 years occasionaly about once a week) He than ate an edible gummy bear and felt awkward, dizzy, vertigo type of feeling. After this experience he stopped taking weed for about 5 days.

Retried it 5 days later and took 0.1 grams of High THC strain and found that at one point it caused him paraniod thoughts and 1 hours of auditory hallucinations. (At the time he was very nervous, anxious, and just been to the hospital for a physical condition that was hurting him.) After taking the 0.1 grams about an 1 hr later "voices wer talking to him for about 1 hr"

He than stopped for yet another 7 days and although he said it was a mixed feeling of paranoia, he felt relaxed that night. He woke up in the morning took a bath and for about 1 minute was hearing voices and he was supposedly said his speach was uncontrolled for that minute he was consecutivley hearing voices and speaking. He also said he got his vertigo back. After being vertigo free for about 3 days prior to trying again.

I told him that the second hallucination/uncontrolled speach was probably a petit mall siezure and he should get it checked. His paranoia and anxiety is worse without weed and I am trying to convince him to go to his doctor who prescribed the weed to get cbd only strains. But he feels he is done with weed and is afraid of trying weed anymore.

From what I know in research High CBD low THC strains should be O.K. but I am not sure if weed in general is a good thing for him anymore. He is 18. So maybe its true weed is not good for people under the age of 25?

I am wondering if the edible he ate caused a shock in the system that fried his endocanaboid system to the point where he is unable to take weed anymore because they give him negative side affects now. If people green out do they get this type of allergic or symptomatic reaction.

Anyone else have experience with this, or friends relatives.

I would suggest that your son has his symptoms looked at by a doctor, and avoid any cannabis use, especially if he doesn't want it. That could be the body telling him something, we're all different and cannabis while great for me is not great for my wife except in rare circumstances where the pain is so intolerable and she gives in to relieve her suffering, all the while she doesn't appear to be enjoying herself.

The brain is not fully developed until around the age of 25, so there is scientific reasoning behind that logic, but it all depends on what is being treated. If a child is having seizures all the time then it's worth those risks to prevent the seizures, less damage in the end.

Did he say how many mg his edible was? It should be pointed out that 11-hydroxy THC is considerably more psychoactive than delta-9 THC. If he was using 0.5gr per day I would think that a 10-15mg dose would have been sufficient if not less for 4-6 hours of medication.

On my own personal experience, I had a period where any narrow leaf cultivar was getting me too anxious, but I've worked through that through a few different anti-inflammatory supplements and now it's not so much of an issue. When it was an issue, I found some 3:1'ish ratio of CBD to THC, and low THC cultivar such as stephen hawking kush (4% THC / 12% CBD) was nice because I got a little high but really just felt happy and good in general, and still was able to get pain relief though a bit more like an advil.

.

Not really. Did not have much since edibles are not regulated. But could it be that it shocked his system and its still in his system some how?

He's still got THC in his system if he was a daily user before all of this happened. I doubt the edible is still providing any effects today. He took the gummy over 12 days ago now? As to the shock to the system, I am really not sure

How long does THC stay in the system?

In my most recent case about a year ago I took a 6 week t-break and still was detecting THC in my urine using single panel test strips on day 45. I was consuming about a quarter ounce of concentrates per month through vapor and about 2 grams of concentrates per month in edible form.

Man, that sucks. hope he gets better soon.
I'm not sure, but in this case I'd try a CBD only strain, or CBD oil/isolate. would he be more willing to start with very low CBD doses? Maybe try to exercise and drink a lot of water to help purge the THC out?
Turmeric, omega-3s, magnesium glycinate and magnesium l-threonate for anti-inflammatory properties and aiding in nervous system function?.. start low to avoid side effects. but maybe high with omega-3

I've partaken in many discussions about nutrition, cannabis, and side effects because I know first hand that certain chronic deficiencies will really bring out the worst in mmj. I have noticed that magnesium is a key topic in these discussions, as are all the B vitamins and the omegas. I think @asdf420 knows what he/she is talking about :)

@Kosherbubba, I am sorry that your son is having a difficult time lately.

As mentioned above, if he is unwilling to continue with cannabis then it may be best not to force the issue.

High CBD strains such as ACDC (20% CBD and 1% THC) are very calming with only a very mild psychoactive presence. I use this strain to treat seizures and it works great. If your son is willing he may want to try something similar or a high CBD tincture.

One thing I would look into however is the possibility of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) which can cause voices or schizophrenia. Below is a link.

I wish your son only the best and will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

dizzy light headed feeling.
it an inner ear issue possibly.... get some spicy hot beta caryophyllene ( whole black peppercorn) and also some Ginger.... have him take both of those at his comfort level.... tht beta caryophylllene mostly... it will reset his CB2 receptors and effect cb1 somewhat.... beta caryophylllene is basically a cannabis adverse fixer
