@TwistedGray that is a sweet ride. My first car was a 1978 Cadillac Coupe Deville. It was a mile and a half long and powder blue. I'll try to dig out some pics.

Like others here, I'm a hot hatchback guy as well. I have never owned one, but my first choice would be a VW GTI/R or Civic Type R, would consider a Focus RS.

Cars I've owned include, 78 Caddy, 1999 Buick LeSabre, 2003 Buick LeSabre (current) and, I inherited my dads 1967 ElDorado when he died in July of last year. 67,000 original miles and it's sitting in storage.

My ride is a luxury ride. It is very fast if I want it to be but most of all I am concerned with comfort. That means heated seats in the winter and a heated steering wheel. Cooled and ventilated seats for the summer. Nav to get me where I'm going and radar sensors with backup camera to help make sure I don't kill anyone by accident.

If you wish to watch racing I highly recommend F-1 and IndyCar.

ES 350, zero to sixty in 6 seconds.

Ok, so Godzilla (Nissan GTR) is more performance than luxury....zero to sixty in 2.9 seconds :o

How about Luxury and raw speed? Stock, zero to sixty in 5 seconds

Infiniti-Q50-Eau-Rouge-concept-PLACEMENT-626x382.jpg

However, with a Vortec V3 Supercharger Kit.... zero to sixty in a luxurious 4 seconds...

Indy was cool for a while, but they keep leaning on my ride! Nobody leans on my ride!!!!

Yes, you may think you have both but they are actually mutually exclusive.
On this we can agree to disagree.

May I introduce you to my little friend?

The Rolls Royce Wraith can hurtle from zero to 60 miles an hour in just 4.4 seconds.

All these 0-60 times are impressive....
But this is why I have love for Imprezas and evos (not the vapexhale type, but I love that just as much too)....
These cars can easily achieve a 4 second 0-60 time with very little, If any mods....

I think a standard import Impreza type r does it in 4.4...
Mine did an easy sub 4 second 0-60....

All for a fraction of the price of a modern car to achieve these numbers...

I'm only 30, I work very hard, but I'm not quite rich yet....
So poor man's sports cars it is for me.....

The EVO is awesome... Impreza as well.

But I'm on my winning the lottery kick, so I was daydreaming a bit...

This is my favourite clio of all time....
Williams...

sLbAVPW.jpg

It's all about the older cars for me...

But I am a fan of a hot hatch with a good chassis....
Who knew front wheel drive could be so much fun...

Those Williams are a sweet ride but never made it out here, nor did the V6 Clio :(. I have had a soft spot for Frenchies ever since I first saw a Pug 205 Gti back in the late 80's. That is still one of my hero cars (affordable too) & if I had a garage to keep one I would have purchased a beautiful example I saw last year. Pure pedigree & driver fun is what this delivers.

That is a sick beast @hd_rider . What is not to love about a LS3 plant? You certainly get a much sexier body shell for your money than I can :). A little custom tune & you can push 600hp in a daily driver with ease. Seed planted ;)........Fuck, now I am getting tempted for some LS love.

@TwistedGrayLike others here, I'm a hot hatchback guy as well. I have never owned one, but my first choice would be a VW GTI/R or Civic Type R, would consider a Focus RS.

You need to get a warm/hot hatch STAT :). They are great because simple, direct & fun to drive is what life needs. It is a real, real pity you guys don't have access to Renaults over there.

The Germans are linear, predictable & over assisted. The Japanese lost it years ago & need to get their shit together properly. Ford are the only US/UK/AU manufacturer with a hatch worth anything. Korea are getting closer but still oh so far & the French are just a bit fucked up in the head & harder to live with but the life of the party at all times :freak:.

Definitely want to see pics of that powder blue beast & the El Dorado sounds classy as fuck. I have driven plenty of L36 powered Commodores & they don't mind doing a lot of k's thats for sure.

Not my size/style of rims @TwistedGray but that ride looks clean, clean, clean!!!

Hmm. I wonder if this is a guy thread? I have a Honda fit which is in a totally different class than the rest of you.

Nothing wrong with the Honda Jazz & I like our name better than the Fit as it seems to suit the car :). A brilliant city car with plenty more space than you think. We are a non discriminatory bunch on this forum so this thread is no different.

Yes, you may think you have both but they are actually mutually exclusive.

I wish my car had quick removable rear seats. Weight is everything, even a 75kg passenger affects braking dynamics & handling characteristics.Who needs rear seats anyways?

On the fuck you subject. Fuck you Chrysler! With both big Aussie RWD V8's retiring you are in a perfect position to re establish Mopar out here. You could offer the Charger & Challenger yet you dumb fuck cunts choose the 300C ugliest piece of shit I never shat behemoth to sell here :disgust:.

Cool thread, albeit a bit over my head, I was a dinosaur and animals type of kid was never one to fawn over cars  not that I can't appreciate a nice looking/driving car, but the brunt of it I am just not all that familiar with.

That's my car! 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. Just got it in September of this year. It only had 11k on it when I bought it too, and paid under 10 so a pretty stellar deal.

Has a nice bit of zip to it. It's most definitely faster from 40-90 than 0-60 but I tend to not jolt of the start on any car so maybe it does indeed have that acceleration at the top end. It's great on highway and I can zoom past bad drivers and then get back to cruising (I rarely if ever speed)

Interior is nice enough. I need to clean it actually. And get floor mats, I've been meaning for some floor mats since September LOL never get around to picking them up.

Good AC, first car with actually good heat and air I've owned, which is nice. Sunroof is nice. Tint is nice, never had a car with any tint. Radio is pretty nice, it's like the nicest "basic" type of radio I've seen, has bluetooth and usb and stuff in it still. But no big touchscreen or center like you see in most newer cars. This probably came out right before those bigger head units became the norm.

It has a CVT motor? Continuouslly variable transmission? Basically I don't have a gear shaft and traditional tranny. I don't know the pro's or cons really. This thing is a gas sipper (I average about 27 mpg with trips that take me through both city and highway) and I don't notice any issues. Guess the other day in the snow I would of liked being able to have downshift options rather than just one option of "LOW", but other than that no issues. (I also need new tires).

Oh, and the turn radius is very tight and I like that a lot. It's something most of my cars had, but my last one did not and was something I took for granted and missed immensely. I live in a turnaround. Which, is actually awesome because while everyone else has to parallel park, I can enter either way and just pull up directly behind or infront of my neighbors. The issue would be when I would be that guy in the middle, and then would leave and come back without them leaving. I had a big boaty Chevy Impala, they both had bigger cars, was a real pain to re park this thing in the turnaround, could never seem to compensate for the curve correctly.

Anyways, that's not an issue and it's easy peasy with this.

It holds 4 comfortably. 5 uncomfortably I imagine. Trunk is pretty big. This is all icing on cake for me, cause when I travel alone I just put my stuff in the car and don't utilize the trunk really. When I go out with people, we take their Rogue or one of their other SUV's that will be more comfortable with more people. Nice for the options though :)

Other cars I've had:

Learned to drive on a 95 Cherokee. Great car to learn on. It died naturally

Got an 07 Jetta back in 11 or 12? I forget exactly. Was a nice car. My "first" car kind of, I couldn't get credit or a loan and my dad bought the car and I paid him payments per month. Car was still in his name though. Issues arose when it needed fixed, was a pain to get parts and stuff and took forever. I totaled it in February 15. I regret not taking better care of it regardless of the accident (shit happens) as the value definitely was decreased just cause I kept it like shit.

After that totaled, I drove around my brother's starter car which was a 01 Chevy Impala. I fucking hated that car. Drove like shit in rain. Drove like shit in snow. Fucking boat of a car. Low to ground. Hated it. Had over 100k miles when I turned it in, lot of issues. Was easier to fix things up than on Jetta, but shit broke much more often.

In a cruel twist of fate, Ive always thought red is a pretty subpar car color. But when I looked for cars, I didn't really care about color, I'm looking more at the mileage and wear and tear and everything. My Jetta, Cherry Red. My Impala......Burgundy (this is the ugliest color IMO lol) , my car now, Red (darker than my Jetta but lighter than Burgundy)

Thanks for thread, enjoying looking at all your cars!

Yeah this was a '73 that I bought from my neighbor who painted it, put the rims on, and installed the four 15's in the trunk. It pounded ... country music, bluegrass, and J.Cash. I could also lay down, stretched out on the back seat. I miss it, but I would probably get shot driving it where I live now (lots of gang violence and this thing screams "I'm up to no good").

I had to drive about 100 miles away to get my Volvo fixed today......

As I went to pick it up, something caught my eye....

It's a cbr400rr 1989 grey import...
Only has 25000 kilometres on it....
Very clean...
I loved my vfr400 so much, I couldn't leave without it...
So I bought it, and my dad drove my car home...
It's been a few years since bike ownership for me, I'm very happy....

£1100, it's very clean, i know that's on the high end...
The thing is, in 5 or 10 years, it'll still be worth that.... It's 27 years old now, it's not gonna depreciate anymore....

And if I put some money into it, ohlins suspension, dynojet, port polish, just basic tuning and updating, it may be worth more in a few years...

Anyway I love these things, my nc30 (vfr400) was the best bike I ever had, I prefered it to my r6...

A true giant killer providing you have gonads to back it up....

Sweet.
I love the Honda vfr series. I bought a new 1983 Interceptor, father of the VFR series. That and subsequent VFRs were great bikes as those V4s were great motors. Miss motorcycles a lot.

If 2 wheels are great, what about 3 and it leans like a 2 wheeler? NeoWing which is supposed to really happen....

Luxury and speed are mutually exclusive until you get into a much higher priced vehicle. You noted the Rolls Royce as an example. Do you own one? Me neither. With limited funds there are trade offs and with cars, there are other trade offs as well. Some are speed vs comfort, or speed vs luxury, or towing capability vs gas mileage depending on gear ratio, or comfort of the interior vs durability of the materials etc the list goes on and on.

So I do not think your example is valid because cubic money, which most of us do not have, shatters the paradigm. With unlimited funds almost anything is possible.
