Cannabis withdrawal and ED.

Just want to see if anyone else has gone through this.
About 3 weeks ago, I went from vaping every day for three years, to just vaping on fri/sat.
The first few weeks, I had the typical symptoms, crankiness and mood swings, but overall not too bad.
However going on the third week, i realized another symptom that I had not accounted for. Erectile disfunction.
I noticed that it affects me through out the week while im sober, but as soon as the weekend hits, and im vaping again, Im back to normal for erections.
Has anyone else experienced this, and how will this affect me since im not actually quitting cannabis, but rather just using a few days a week.

Thanks, all.

Pete.

I am 50 years of age and i do not have this issue when i take a break….albeit i do not break as frequently as i probably should.

I will be honest, you should probably speak with your doctor about this issue instead of posting on-line with these questions. Lots of false medical info floating around on the internet these days.

Would hate for you to base any medical decision on information you find on-line without you speaking to a qualified medical professional.

A few weeks ago I accidentally quit vaping nicotine. In part, due to draconian flavored e-juice bans in Gruesome Gavin Newsom's Commiefornia.

I've noticed a few unexpected health benefits since getting nicotine out of my system. And one is... my dick works a bit better. Didn't notice a problem before. It's just now like I got some free Cialis.

Why am I mentioning this? Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. THC is a vasodilator. It's possible the THC was masking an existing issue with ED. But I'm not a doctor, so I'm just guessing.

dont be too anxious cuz stress or anxiety could be enhancing the symptoms...speak with a healthcare provider if necessary

I'll be interested to see other folks' anecdotal experience on the ED thing and its intersection with Cannabis use. As a lifetime daily canna user, I can say that I did not experience loss of function in 'that area' until I became older, having now a plateful of the other common issues (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.)

This often comes up when someone opens up about a condition they have, and asks people here if they know anything, or have similar experience. Labeling it a "medical condition" is in many cases appropriate, but also shows a bias; I believe you have stated elsewhere that you work in the field of healthcare.

I'm big on science, please don't get me wrong, but depending on where you live and exactly who you ask, the medical professionals' advice about the interactions of cannabis in the human body may be sorely uneducated, I would even say ignorant.

And, so, many are relegated to asking their "peers", their friends, etc., if they have similar experience.
I'm not suggesting random clicking around the ol' web, googling ED+Cannabis or such, but I will say there are members whom I've come to "know" for some years here on FC who I would trust to give me a straight story...on their own experiences.

Hey Pete, i've gone through this nearly every time I take a break. I think it's related to dopamine, neurochemistry, and the delicate hormonal balance that gets out of homeostasis. You need dopamine for erections, and you've just removed a dose of exogenous dopamine. It may take a while to balance out, but quitting cannabis for a year really mucked up my libido for a long ass time.

I just don't get why people assume other people are too stupid to ask for and disseminate advice or opinions given to them on an online forum... medical issues or not, that's what forums are all about. I dunno, I mean no offense to anyone in particular, but it always comes off as "backslapping" for karma points to me... or as the kiddos say these days, "virtue signaling".

I am indeed a medical professional and provide patient care, although i am NOT a doctor.

ED is in fact a medical condition. I am not labeling it as such, the AMA did. The OP also labeled it as that as well. No bias here, just calling it how it is presented.

As far as giving advice goes, i try not to give any as i am not a doctor, although people do ask me for medical advice from time to time. I tend to give half hearted advice and then request they speak with their doctor. It is not “backslapping” or “virtue signaling” as others have called it, it is what i was trained to do.

To be honest, i dont really care if people want to get medical advice from the internet or not. All i know is if it were me, i would want a professional to give me advice and not random people on the internet. What i need to do is skip these topics all together, keep my mouth shut and let people fail rather than try to have everyone’s best interests at heart.

I am big on science as well. The medical field is ALL about science. Most of our degrees are science based (applied science in my case). Yes, some of patient care is opinion based, but treatments are based on scientific processes. However, choosing a course of treatment is sometimes based on which treatment is better, but that “treatment” is most definitely based on scientific evidence.

Either way, and i am not calling anyone out here, but it is clear some people do not want to hear “you should ask your doctor”, so i will stop saying that and skip these types of discussions, so as not to be accused of “backslapping” or “virtue signaling”. Probably should have realized this after i went out of my way to get scientific information from a colleague of mine for a thread regarding anesthesia that apparently no one wanted in the first place.

Lesson learned. Thank you everyone for the education.

As ED can be a symptom of an even more serious problem, "see a doctor" is absolutely sensible advice. To call it virtue signaling (an idiotic phrase), is both rude and unhelpful.

Fwiw, I don't question your expertise and there's no doubt what you offered is sound, logical advice, and that your heart is certainly in the right place etc, which is why I didn't single you out. I just see it every time anyone asks something even remotely medical related... I guess it's really just more of a personal pet peeve, if you will, and maybe I should've kept that one to myself. Apologies. ✌️

Edit:
As ED can be a symptom of an even more serious problem, "see a doctor" is absolutely sensible advice. To call it virtue signaling (an idiotic phrase), is both rude and unhelpful.
Which is why I didn't directly call it as such, all I stated is how I personally perceive it, and particularly coming from a forum full of young stoners... btw, who doesn't think ED is a medical issue?
