A lot of money to be made through legalizing. This may be enough to get 'some' states to decriminalize but others may turn their heads.
I saw another article where Ohio is making some radical changes to their new medical MJ law. You can't grow, you can't smoke but you can vape and some other nonsense that I can't remember. I'll have to find that article.
Anyway, here's this.

By the way, how do you do post a link but you make the link a word instead of posting the whole link?

Here's the Ohio link:

Marijuana Crusaders Are Taking Their Legalization Protest to Obama's Front Porch
Marijuana activists are set to protest pot prohibition at the White House Friday. They want Obama to deschedule it, but that's just for starters.

A demonstration headed by the DC Cannabis Campaign and Weed for Warriors is set for the White House Friday after the Obama administration failed to respond to the groups' requests for "higher level consultations" following an initial meeting with White House staffers last month. Ralliers are meeting at the White House at 5:20 PM (on 5/20).

Headed by longtime DC political gadfly Adam Eidinger, the DC Cannabis Campaign is the group behind the District's successful 2014 marijuana legalization initiative. The campaign's White House demonstration last month led to that initial meeting and to the campaign's call for further meetings.

Weed for Warriors is a group dedicated to working with the Veterans Administration to ensure that vets "have the freedom to use medical marijuana as a recognized medical alternative to harmful psychiatric drugs."

Organizers are saying the event won't be a smoke-in, but it will come close. "This will be an unpermitted event with mass cannabis consumption and escalated civil disobedience," demonstration promotional materials say.

New State Laws Permit Medical Marijuana Use In Hospitals

By Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director Legislation recently signed into law in Connecticut and Maine permit for the use of medicinal marijuana formulations by hospitalized patients. Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy yesterday signed legislation, HB 5450, to protect nurses who administer medical marijuana to qualified patients in hospital settings from any criminal, civil, or disciplinary action. Other provisions in the bill expand the pool of patients eligible for cannabis therapy to include those under the age of 18, and seek to establish a state-sponsored research program. In Maine, Gov. Paul LePage recently signed LD 726 into law, which similarly protects hospital

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper changes stance on marijuana.

The moderate Democrat said that if he could "wave a magic wand" to reverse the decision, he would. Then he called voters "reckless" for approving it in the first place, a remark he later downgraded to "risky."

“Colorado is known for many great things,” Hickenlooper said. “Marijuana should not be one of them.”

But the governor’s views have softened. During a recent panel discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, he said that despite opposing the legalization of pot, his job was to “deliver on the will of the people of Colorado.”

“The predictions of fire and brimstone have failed to materialize,” said Mason Tvert, spokesman for the Marijuana Policy Project, a national group working to reform pot laws. “Most Coloradoans, including the governor, recognize that the law is working.”

Colorado is booming. The state has a 4.2% unemployment rate, one of the best in the country. High-tech companies are moving in. Small towns across the state, some once teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, have been saved by tax revenues from pot dispensaries. And the $1-billion-a-year cannabis business will pump $100 million in taxes into state coffers this year.

That looks like a really crappy bill. Sorry about that, dude. While Cannabis acceptability is moving forward, it is really in fits and starts. I think the changes need to be top down and coming from the fed for change to really happen.

Choose your Senators and Congresscritters carefully...

My fellow buckeyes , read it and weep, here!

That's a really shitty MMJ bill!
Reminds me of our shitty Minnesota MMJ bill :(

The trouble is, when you get a POS MMJ program like this, the legislators in effect say "shut the fuck up", you got your MMJ program so it becomes really difficult to get improvements :(

I don't understand some of these medical cannabis states only allowing the oils and concentrates or just allowing edibles. The cannabis flower is easier to dose and cost less. This makes it a hardship for the patients. I can see a medical black market thriving.

Also some of the medical conditions that aren't allowed, like pain and anxiety.

I agree Ohio has a shitty medical cannabis law. You citizens in the state need to help change that. I hope Ohio has the referendum system in your state.

Wash your California weed, Stanislaus County, Modesto, before using.

This week, the Sheriff's Department for Stanislaus County in California is warning people to wash their weed after over 20,000 plants were seized from a grow that was too close to land that had "toxic chemicals, insecticides and pesticides,"
Officials removed the plants early this week from the nearby San Joaquin River with help from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. One of the chemicals they identified was carbofuran, an extremely toxic pesticide that's so powerful, it was once used to kill hyenas.

I've never considered washing my weed like I would with other produce. I figured it would wash off all those delicious trichomes. Anyone have any experience washing theirs? Is it worth it?

I hope Ohio has the referendum system in your state.

Yes, Ohio does have two groups who've had ballot language, much less restrictive than the legislature's, already approved to make changes via adding an amendment to the state constitution. Both groups are currently collecting signatures with the goal of making the November 2016 ballot. How it all shakes out, i.e., statute vs. amendment, should the Ohio legislature's plan be approved next week and one or more of the amendment proposals approved by this July for the fall election, I'm really not sure. I would guess that the amendment(s) would have precedence.

Isn't this the state that had a really liberal recreational cannabis law that was getting huge funding from a group that would get full monopoly control over the growing industry? And when that doesn't pass they follow it up with one of the LEAST liberal medical only laws?

Whats goin on in Ohio? Having been the only state whose national guard actually opened fire on war protesters in the 70s (killing 4) I suppose its hard to know what to expect.

No shock to anyone that actually follows Ohio cannabis politics.

As bad as Issue 3 was it was our best bet at getting a decent cannabis program. I knew as soon as Columbus announced that they were open to MMJ that this would be the result. The latest change likely knocks me out of eligibility so I get to look forward to nothing but more anxiety and shitty brick weed...yay.

At this point my only hope is that the MPP manages to navigate their ballot measure through all of the hoops DeWine will setup and actually get it on the card. Even then I'm not comfortable with the electorate. :(

I wish I had an answer for you. All I can say is don't get your medicine from Modesto.

The problem with washing weed is those nice dense nugs become waterlogged and difficult to dry without some fermentation taking place and possibly mold growth. If I had something I was worried enough to think about washing, I would probably use it to make ice water hash, which washes the weed quite effectively. If it's a small amount I guess just toss it. These sorts of problems are one of the reasons I do my own medical grow. I can control all inputs to the process and I really know what I'm consuming. It's also really fun.

Republican congressman admits to using medical marijuana. Unfortunately, it's Dana Rohrabacher, so it may not help our cause too much because this guy is bat shit crazy/

Story

He once claimed he had a drunken arm wrestling match with Putin. claims the Ok City bombings were carried out by Muslims and that Terry Nichols was trained to build bombs by Ramsi Yousef. Nichols admitted there was no conspiracy.

On top of that, Rohrabacher is a renowned figure who stands against the theory of man-made climate change, instead blaming the phenomenon on “dinosaur flatulence”, and welcomed the impending 2013 Government Shutdown by going on CNN while believed to be gleefully drunk from celebrating the failure of his party to compromise and, y’know, govern.

I hope the population doesn't get the shaft when it comes to who can grow commercially. They seem to have already thrown out the working folks who would need it.

Kinda restrictive, but a step forward. What do Ohio people think? I'd imagine the amendment would be a better option if this is the knee jerk reaction offering they are giving. It at least outlines how many grow ops and such a bit.

The MPP amendment is the best option but it is highly unlikely that it makes it to the ballot.

State lawmakers are pushing their own MMJ program for two reasons. First is that they then control who makes the money off of it. Second is to squash any potential ballot measures looking to legalize MJ. They do NOT want legal MJ in this state and issue 3 spooked the hell out of them.
