@Gunky, I see what your saying. But it's irrelevant for me. I don't have the space to do anymore than I already do. It's still illegal in uk so I would rather not have all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.
If I had 30oz and the police took it. I would be not happy. But if they only took 4 I wouldn't mind. Also the judge will not be too happy about 30oz but with 4 or 6 I could probably get away with a fine.

With the light. It's dependant on space. A 1000w for me would give no advantage over a 600w. I boost it to 650 for final flower anyway. In my space the 1000 would be too much heat. I think having a 600 watt digital is preferable to a 1000 watt magnetic. That's my opinion. Not saying you are wrong, just that this works for me best.
Anyway we are not supposed to be discussing cultivation.

Nobody uses magnetic here any more. I think it's ok to discuss cultivation in relation to legalization, which is sort of where this took off. I was complaining that the limits are too limiting given where the technology is at the moment for a medical grow here. At some point you would feel the same constriction, for ex at 2 oz. Your light gets wasted because you can only grow a plant or two.

Heck, I don't even use half the technology that's available now, like light movers (the lamp rotates on an arm, travels round a track, etc) and CO2, which would increase yield even further.

I have no movers. But I do have a software driven duel fan controller. This helps me maintain exact temps and humidity. It's about the most high tech thing I use. I don't use co2, but I sleep next to the intake to its ducking in all my co2.
I understand what your saying. If it was all legal here I wouldn't be growing in a secret cupboard and I'm sure my yield would shoot up considerably. I only have a meter square floor space, 2.4m tall. And I get 8oz from 3 plants in that. I can imagine if I had more room I would soo start accumulating. And if it was legal here I'd store big amounts and take a year off. But I don't have these luxuries.

What's happening is we are beginning to legalize here, on a state by state basis. Various systems, rules, limitations, etc are being tried out in various states. Right now it's fashionable to allow 8 ounces. IMO, it's an impractical amount which has no real basis. Why 8 and not 10, 12, 16? Some people, like a few we have here on the board, consume huge amounts for medical reasons. I hate to see 8 oz codified as the standard.

Legalisation is happening here too. But not by politicians. Not directly anyway. It's becoming 'legal' due to the police not having enough money to concentrate any man power to it.

The measure of success in MJ production is often measured in the millions that the state extracts from sales. Not a metric that I, as a user can support considering I don't see enough actual action on low cost access, medical research, freeing pot prisoners or the right to grow. The state seems more interest in injecting itself into the cash flow as a collector as opposed to being a partner or supporter.
With that said I am all for new pot grows of all types and levels of sophistication. With new growers (of all types) coming and going it limits the states ability to control supply. I would much rather be able to grow average pot in my backyard for free then pay some bureaucrats salary so it control my access to commercial pot.
This is just my opinion and I respect the opinions of others who don't agree. MJ users are a diverse group with lots of good ideas that don't necessarily all agree with each other but that gives us all options when needed.

I am ok with reasonable taxation as part of the price to come out of the shadows. I too at times feel a sort of cognitive dissonance as our government simultaneously busts people and smilingly opens up its coffers to take our pot tax dollars...

In uk some people sell 1 gram for 20 quid. Surely even excessive taxation can't end up more expensive than it already is. Can it?

That's like $30 or something? Very expensive. No we are spoiled, esp on the west coast. And we want even more!

Yes it's about $30. And remember these are not top shelf flowers, produced by professionals.
This is quick grown, bad cured weed that is potentially detrimental to my health when I discover crushed glass on it.
Can't put a price on my health.

I always compare what I have now in what I will have after a tax gopes into effect

Not saying you are wrong but I never trust the state here to make the best decisions on what is best for my health here in the states. I would much rather go down the street and talk to the grower about the quality of his product then depending on the same clowns who gave us the war on drugs. However everyone lives in their own unique world of circumstances so we can all be right.

If it were a fixed rate tied to the actual value of MJ and the state left those who don't want to play that game (commercial retail) alone then no problem. However I have serious doubts that such a regulatory policy will happen in the US in the long term when it comes to MJ taxes. Don't get me wrong I am not against all of us paying our fair shares to keep the train on the rails but in some cases taxation needs to be consumer driven, fair and elective. IMO

Look what the local, state, and federal taxing authorities did to tobacco? When I was growing up (albeit, 50 yrs ago), cigs cost 50 cents a pack in a vending machine. Now a pack costs $10 or more. Mostly tax. The problem with mj, it grows like a weed. So anyone could grow it. The gov't can't control mj like it does tobacco, or even alcohol. Too high a tax, folks will chase an illegal high.

I think in WA state greed will get the best of them if the price is too high for the customer whether it be rec or medical. The only reason I would get a medical cert with the new medical cannabis law would be if I chose to grow my own. It wouldnt be worth the 10% savings I would get buying from the stores, medical patients will only save 10% in taxes. I don't want to be on a list for saving maybe $20 a month or roughly $250 a year.

This new law has really screwed the medical patients in our state.

Which Is Better – Indoor Marijuana Or Outdoor Marijuana?
Posted by Johnny Green at 7:09 PM on October 19, 2015Opinion

Is Indoor Cannabis Really Better Than Sun Grown Cannabis? It is harvest season all over the West Coast. October is called ‘Croptober’ by most marijuana enthusiasts because so many people are trimming and drying their outdoor gardens this month. From what I have seen on social media, it looks like the longer warmer weather has helped a lot of people’s crops. Brace yourselves West Coasters, the fall flood is beginning. Supplies on the West Coast are surging, and all the while prices for bulk marijuana is dropping. How low will it go? It’s tough to say. The market place has

This rapper was arrested for cannabis - 2 Chainz. The police officers got their picture taken with him. I thought it looked funny with their smiles on their faces posing for a picture. Did they really need to arrest him? It must have been in the southern part of America. Not sure when this happened, it could have been a while ago. I don't keep up on all the rapper news.

Edit - A follow up. This happened in 2013.
EASTON, Md. — Rapper 2 Chainz has been acquitted of drug charges he faced after a traffic stop on Maryland's Eastern Shore.

The Star Democrat of Easton, Md., reports ( ) that a county judge found the rapper not guilty Wednesday. 2 Chainz's real name is Tauheed Epps. http://bit.ly/11TIU4F

The Atlanta-based rapper was headed to a college homecoming event in February when state troopers stopped the van he was traveling in. Police said they searched the van after smelling burnt marijuana and found a marijuana grinder and marijuana inside a backpack.

2 Chainz was cited for having drug paraphernalia and marijuana after he claimed the bag. The rapper's security guard testified that in a rush to leave the group's Baltimore hotel room, he packed the grinder, but he said he didn't know who owned it.

Need to keep your cannabis in a smell proof container and use a vaporizer.
