The former head of France’s anti-narcotics agency has been charged with complicity in drug smuggling as part of an inquiry into controversial methods used by the police to bring down drug barons, legal sources have said.

François Thierry was charged on Thursday with complicity in the possession, transport and acquisition of drugs and in their export as part of an organised gang, a source close to the investigation said.

Ocrtis, the drug-fighting agency he ran between 2010-2016, came under investigation after seven tonnes of cannabis smuggled from Morocco was seized in Paris on 17 October 2015.

The police were initially praised for the haul but it later emerged that it was part of a sting operation aimed at infiltrating a smuggler network, with the help of a notorious trafficker acting as an informer.

Investigators accuse Thierry of keeping his superiors in the dark about parts of the operation and the role played by the trafficker, allegations he denies.

He has been released on bail.

His lawyer Francis Szpiner accused prosecutors of “incredible hypocrisy”, saying Thierry’s methods had produced “exceptional results”.

Topless carwash raises cash for deputies wounded in gun battle at Rastafarian pot farm

A Yuba County strip club, feeling particularly philanthropic, used its abundant assets — topless ladies — in a weekend carwash to raise money for two sheriff’s deputies who were injured in a shootout at a Rastafarian pot farm last month.

The shirtless carwash at City Limits Showgirls in Marysville on Saturday raised $2,560, the strip club wrote on Facebook. A long line of cars snaked outside the fundraiser, which was held in a tented parking lot.

The charity event was held for Yuba County sheriff’s Deputies Phillip Bronson and Andrew Everhart, who were shot multiple times on Aug. 1 at a Rastafarian church’s marijuana farm in Oregon House, a small community northeast of Sacramento.

When deputies were called to the farm, the man hid, then began firing, hitting Bronson and Everhart. The shooter, identified as Anthony Sanchez, 33, of Gilroy, died after being hit by return fire from the wounded deputies, according to the sheriff’s department.

Everhart and Bronson both underwent surgery after the shooting and have since been released from the hospital, said Leslie Carbah, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. They are still under medical care and are recovering at home, she said.

The sheriff’s department said it was not affiliated with the strip club carwash. The department “looked into the legality of the event” but found that since it was held in an enclosed space and that identification was checked before any adult could enter, it was a “legal business promotion.”

One of the dancers who planned to participate in the carwash, Talina Kirker, was asked by a TV reporter if she had ever washed a car before.

She volunteered to do the carwash, she said, because the deputies make the dancers feel safe while they’re at work.

The strip club’s Facebook page is filled with thankful comments.

“Thank you for your Community spirit,” one woman posted. “Great job Ladies.”

“I’m a retired cop,” a man wrote. “I thank you for putting [forth] the effort to help. Your hearts are golden.”

Did you know that human bodies actually convert omega-3 fatty acids into endocannabinoids, which are like your own personal homemade cannabinoids? These are responsible for keeping that inflammation under control.

As a matter of fact, a new study out of the University of Illinois has found that cannabinoids and endocannabinoids both bind to the same two types of receptors in the body before circulating through the nervous and immune systems to bring about their effects on pain and inflammation. In other words, your body can get the same benefits from foods like eggs, nuts and fish that it does from marijuana.

Scientists have known since 1964 that marijuana’s most active compound is THC. That was when Israeli scientists managed to isolate the compound. After isolating it, they added a small dose of pure THC to some pieces of cake and had volunteers eat it. When they reacted with a range of emotions from talkativeness to lethargy to uncontrollable laughter and a control group who ate normal cake did not, it became clear that THC was a psychotropic cannabinoid.

Since then, scientists have discovered that THC essentially mimics the natural endocannabinoids produced by your body when you eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Anti-inflammatory benefits without the psychotropic high
The new study of human cells and animal tissue, which was led by Biochemistry Professor Aditi Das, highlighted the chain of chemical reactions responsible for converting the omega-3 fatty acids you get from foods into anti-inflammatory benefits that are similar to those of cannabinoids but without the psychotropic high

Cannabinoids work their magic on cells by binding to surface proteins known as cannabinoid receptors. These are essentially gatekeepers; they only allow certain compounds to get inside.

In addition to uncovering the enzyme pathway that converts endocannabinoids derived from omega-3s into anti-inflammatory molecules that then bind to the immune system’s cannabinoid receptors, they also found that the anti-inflammatory molecules known as omega-3 endocannabinoid epoxides can influence blood platelet aggregation and blood vessel dilation. They believe these molecules could be used to help treat cerebrovascular and neuroinflammatory diseases in the future.

Their findings were published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Your body was built to use cannabinoids
Despite the growing amount of research on the topic, a lot of people are wary of medicinal marijuana and still don’t realize that the body was built to use cannabinoids, which are even present in breast milk.

The truth is that cannabinoids are being used by people not only to prevent chronic disease and diminish pain but also to relax their nerves and enhance their mood. Cannabis effects everyone differently so Squiby might get "HPE" (hallucinatory placebo effect) but I tend to get the
"scrunchies" (AKA screaming munchies) ;)
So I might just shout out " damn, those dark chocolate covered almonds are awesome!" :)

Leptin- this increases with cannabis use and its what causes the munchies... maybe to much leptin ? I just came up with this so have not checked if possible

as to pesticides. neem oil pesticide ( azadirachtin ? ) has been suspect when used on cannabis... apparently it does not mix well with cannabis

LINCOLN, Neb. — A California couple arrested in Nebraska last month for carrying 60 pounds of marijuana they described as family Christmas gifts have again been arrested in Nebraska, this time on suspicion of carrying drug money.


Patrick Jiron, 80, and his 70-year-old wife, Barbara, both of Clear Lake Oaks, California, were arrested Tuesday along Interstate 80 in southeastern Nebraska, the Lincoln Journal Star reported. They were arrested last month along the same roadway — in the same vehicle — just two counties west.


Lancaster County sheriff’s officials said the couple were passengers in a pickup truck that was stopped Tuesday on suspicion of following another vehicle too closely. A deputy said a search of the truck turned up a duffel bag carrying $18,000 in cash, an oversized garbage bag with raw marijuana residue inside it and notes consistent with marijuana sales.


A 42-year-old woman driving the truck was not arrested, Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Instead, she was given a warning for the traffic violation and released, he said. Wagner did not know her relationship to the Jirons.

“The Jirons bonded out of jail,” Wagner said. He did not know whether they were required to put up any money to bond out. Online court documents don’t list an attorney for the Jirons.


Wagner said his department plans to turn the cash over to the federal Department of Homeland Security. If federal officials are successful in legally seizing the money, Lancaster County would get to keep about 60 percent of it, Wagner said.


Authorities have said that when the Jirons were arrested in York County on Dec. 19, they said they didn’t know it was illegal to transport marijuana through Nebraska and that they were planning to give the drug as Christmas presents to relatives in Vermont and Massachusetts.


The Jirons are the parents of a Vermont prosecutor in Chittenden County, Justin Jiron. State’s Attorney Sarah George has said Justin Jiron is not connected to his parents’ alleged crime other than by relation.

Some Coloradans used to drive up to Nebraska in the Fall and bring back wild weed. CO cops would bust them as they crossed back. I got a hold of a quantity of this weed and you literally could not get high from it. It just gave you a headache and scratchy throat. And people wrecked their lives for some free shit-weed....

Colorado Springs pot club owner throws cannabis sex party

COLORADO SPRINGS - The owner of a pot club in Colorado Springs decided to put a twist on his business over the weekend by hosting a sex party.

KDVR in Denver spoke with Jaymen Johnson, owner of Speakeasy Vape Lounge and Cannabis Club located off E. Bijou Street, on the controversial event. Johnson claims it was completely legal.

“More open relationships-- exchanging of partners-- stuff like that," Johnson told KDVR.

He went on to say that he checked with Colorado Springs officials prior to the event and that he plans to host more pot sex parties.

Johnson said he gets away with it because his business is considered a private club.

A Lane County man stashed $1 million worth of marijuana in fake boulders and attempted to ship it from Springfield to Oklahoma City.

Curran Millian Manzer, 37, is accused of possession with intent to distribute more than 100 pounds of marijuana, according to a federal complaint signed and filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Eugene.

so much of that crazy stuff happening all because cannabis is illegal... legal cannabis for everyone has none of those problems with everyone trying to be your dealer
