can your heart start racing out of control after couple hits off vapo

Hi guys, I'm from Rotterdam, recently got myself a magic flight launch vaporizer and i am so happy with it. It has changed my life, really. The other day i was hanging out with this girl, dont want to be rude, but shes pretty easy, you know... I gave her the flight launcher and told her how to take a hit. She wasnt sure if she got it so she may have taken a few- but about an hour later I am trying to chill and she starts looking for attention saying her heart is going so fast and she dont feel good. Total buzz kill. This went on for quite a while. I asked her had she taken anything and said she should lie down & relax, but she kept it up and seriously annoyed the hell out of me. Has anyone had any experience with anything like this? Isnt it just cigarette and weed smoking in a joint that can do that?

I believe cannabis can increase your heart rate. I have high blood pressure, and have to be on two different pills to control it. Vaporizing cannabis helps me stay calm (not allowed to have any stress). In my case, it doesn't make my pulse rate high, but rather lowers it.

Ahhh... An Excelsior supporter no doubt...

So how did it end? Did you get lucky or did she cock-block you with her heartrate antics?

 Stu. Cutting straight to the heart of the story's omissions - 'but did you get laid!'

@stoner010. I was always taught that mj was a mild stimulant, so I guess some people might feel the 'stimulant' effects more than others. I know I have personally had a few occasions where I have had accelerated heart-rate after smoking. I think on those occasions my state-of-mind had more to do with that then the mj :2c:

Yeah Dude.. You should have just told her.. Hold on to my dick and nothing will happen to you babe :) !
Anyway vaporization offer much brighter spectrum of biocompounds (essential oils other psychadelic stuff + waxes ,moisture .. etc . ) than smoking.. IMO. So many of them can be irritating .. or cause allergy in some people.. (which involves trouble breating and/or increased heartrate.. etc...) .
Or she just had the old classic "Cuntpanic" cuz she got too high..

HA!! ok, i guess what i was trying to get at is I figured a vaporizer would be LESS likely to cause something like that to happen- less likely than a joint

Vapor is a lot more potent then smoke. So that explains why one might be able to get past their comfort level if they are a lightweight and are not careful.

But other feelings like ones of anxiety can really make your heart rate go up, and cannabis can naturally do that too. I think we have all had a few episodes of an unusually fast beating heart early in our vaporizing or maybe smoke careers.

Next time be more relaxed, make it a relaxed situation, do something you both enjoy that can distract you from letting some bad feelings intensify.

Be sure to do things like go slower with vapor with someone who is new to a vape of any kind(even the little Launch Box! ), stay hydrated, have some sort of neutral snack before hand so you dont let blood sugar get too low, which is another effect from cannabis! Try to avoid things that might stress one out.

And trying a more indica dominant strain cant hurt ;)

The subject of cannabis causing your blood sugar to go TOO LOW has been brought up in a few threads on this forum, but nobody has ever provided a link. Do you have a link to a reputable study? Thanks :)

wich strain was it, did it happen to be k2? (to ypu americans who know k2 only as the fake stuff, here in the netherlands k2 is a common commercial strain)
I once got a racing heart from k2, no anxiety or paranoia just a really fastpounding heart, was kind of annoying
never had it from other strains, or at least not so extreme that I remember it, but from the k2 this is pretty much the only thing I remember from the effect, the rest of the high wasn't that special, just a plain effect, not really nuances or so
with me it was from combustion tough

The compounds in Cannabis effects every person differently. Studies shows that Cannabis is a regulator. For example if your receptors are over-active it will calm it down and vice verse .

can trigger anxiety, and even panic if you get carried away. because vapor high tastes, feels, and hits different. people can take too much by accident.

hope things work out ok :)

Bud that is still too wet always gives me harsher hits and a racing heart, also when I only vape a sativa continuously I certainly notice the racing heart coming back. I would make sure your source is curing properly, if so, leave the buds out overnight to dry even more before vaping. These are the factors I always associated with racing heart but I;'m sure there are more.

Nosferatu,
I used to have a real problem with panic attacks from smoking weed and stopped for almost 7 years. It took a long time to get over because frankly, it's all in your head. My doctor and I were very thorough for a few months getting to the bottom of the attacks. After discovering a small arrhythmia, the doctor determined that MJ, if slightly over-indulging, can aggravate the condition. Urban legend and misconception lead most people to believe MJ is a depressant. It is actually a stimulant. Your heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, body temp elevates......all classic traits of stimulants. I'm not going to paste links in this thread out of convenience, but simple Google searches will say the same thing. However, we can all agree it also has qualities that encompass all classifications. Stimulant, depressant, hallucinogen....If you're predisposed to a small heart condition you don't even know about because it hasn't come up before, MJ can 100% aggravate it.

Now, the truth also is, panic attacks are essentially harmless. Very, very frightening for the individual experiencing it, but generally in now way life threatening. Honestly, the worst that will happen is you will pass out. at which point the heart will re-regulate itself and you discover you lived through it. Eventually a person can overcome their fear. I did.

The only sad thing about the original post was the lack of concern for the young lady having the attack. What may have been painfully annoying and inconvenient for you, may have been one of the scariest moments of this woman's life. I'm not judging, but someone having an attack for the first time fully believes they might be dying. The smarter and quicker way our next time is to keep her calm, and tell jokes or something stupid like that to take her mind off the attack. it'll be over in a few minutes if the person can be effectively distracted.

Very nice Post, Jason.

Only thing i cant agree with is cannabis in general being a stimulant. I think it depends way too much on strain, traits it inherited from the parents, and the time of harvest which can be a huge factor in the effect you get. Otherwise it was spot on. :)

Nycdeisel,
I totally understand what you're driving at. This is just information derived from conversations with my doctor on the body's initial nuero-chemical and physical interaction at the time of ingestion of MJ. I don't mean this to say you are wrong at all. This is just the body's own natural response. When you start moving through the different stages of intoxication, your body will then experience a multitude of effects. Perhaps encompassing nearly all psychoactive symptomology. However, the point you make of different strains is extremely important. There are certainly some strains that react differently right out of the box. Say, an indica vs. sativa. We all know indicas have a much more sedative effect on the user than a sativa which can be much more physically and mentally stimulating. Someone not accustomed to such a strain, could easily be made uncomfortable by it's effects.

Well there also some classic energetic indica's .. They give you warm waves, increase heart rate, mood , and they crush you after 30-40 mins til 1.5 when the stimulation subsides and sedation comes.. :).
