Can you damage your brain taking repeated vaped bowls after bowl?

To remember a dream you really need to remember not to move when you wake. It's really weird but true. When you wake up in the morning you should have the dream imagery still all there, and if you make a conscious effort to remember the images - the places you went to, the people you met and the things you did - you'll remember them. But if you don't, and you move my body, the images will get washed away like sandcastles by the sea. I can confirm this from my experience.

Okay, but say you remember your dream, what is the point in remembering it? Sometimes I wake up and have a f'd up dream and I just want to forget it but when I remember it it just lingers with me all day and gets annoying. Sometimes dreams can be fun, but at the same time there are the weird ones I wish that I could forget. I do agree that when you vape a lot you lose your dreaming abilities, but they come back very easily. I remember my best day dream was when I was vaked and took a nap and had a moth talking in my ear while on a stone cobble pavement while the whole world was spinning, it was crazy!

cool tip qbit. not sure I will be able to consciously not move when i wake up. I will try this though if i can :)

did you know walking though doorways are like reset switched too? ever walk into a room and forget what you came for? happens to me all the time. apparently walking though doorways hits a reset switch in our brains and we tend to forget after the "refresh" I was reading about this a few months ago.

but that works only when you remember the dream when you wake up I think?

usually when I wake up I don't have the dream imagery there, it's like I fall asleep and the next moment I wake up, everything in between is just a gap, as if I ceased to exist between falling asleep and waking up
while especially on weekenddays I usually stay in bed for a while after waking up, it's not like I start moving imediatly.
I have noticed that on the ocassions I do dream(/remember dreaming when I wake up) it does indeed work to overthink it, it has happened to me that I remember an entire dream when I wake up, then later that day I want to tell someone about my dream and when I try to tell it I notice I forgot the whole dream
I do still remember that I did dream tough, just not what it was about, if I think about it n the morning I do remember what it was about but still a lot of details disappeaer, especially since I dream in images, but think in my own voice, so in the translation from dream to thought a lot is lost already

It's weird that we are talking about dreams and lucid dreaming because last night I lucid dreamt for the FIRST TIME EVER!

I had vaped earlier in the day, and then some a CBD Harlequin at night, and had a little alcohol after that (but besides the point).. ps Happy Saint Pattyss --> continue

Anyways, I was in a random room (and not really sure how I got there) but the ceiling was as tall as my head and I kept getting scared someone was going to enter the room with me so I was constantly checking and re-locking the door (almost OCD like). The weird part is that I had a lucid dream within a dream (not sure if this is normal or not).. it was like some inception brain fuck shit. So the lucid dream started once I relaxed in this "weird room." I woke up from relaxing and everything was BRIGHT beautiful colors, I was so happy and I could do whatever I wanted. Everyone was carrying potted flowers which was weird, and am not sure why my subconscious created that imagery but nonetheless it was pretty to look at. So I walked for a bit and talked to people and made them laugh, then saw ashton kutcher and we were talking about having some 3 some with a girl we just met, but then ashton morphed into one of my friends. In the lucid dream I tried to hug people and I just went through them! But when I tried to kiss someone I could feel the sensations of kissing, it was crazy. Of course as I started kissing another girl in my dream, in real life my girlfriend shifted in bed and the dream slipped away like a knife through warm butter. I can't wait to do this again! I don't know how I slipped into a lucid dream within my dream, but WOW.... It felt so real.

challenge accepted! :D

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=why-walking-through-doorway-makes-you-forget

From time to time, the researchers gave them a pop quiz, asking which object was currently in their backpack. The quiz was timed so that when they walked through a doorway, they were tested right afterwards. As the title said, walking through doorways caused forgetting: Their responses were both slower and less accurate when they'd walked through a doorway into a new room than when they'd walked the same distance within the same room.

this thread got me very interested in lucid dreaming! recollected a dream I had this morning right after I had it, and will probably write down my next one.

cool stuff, hopefully I can stick to it and finally have my dream date with megan fox

Same as scottio here, you guys have inspired me to restart my dream journal. I got in to last year, and wrote down brief notes of my dreams every morning for a couple of months. However, it was hard to take the time to write down my dreams in bed, and I got frustrated with the lack of results so I stopped.
Now that I think about it, I was very close to having complete lucid dreams, I just needed a little more practice. I've been having some crazy lucid dreams during my 1 week break, and I can't imagine how fun it would be if I could control when and how these dreams unfold.

Here are the sites that helped me the most to practice lucid dreaming if any of you are interested:
http://www.consciousdreaming.com/lucid-dreaming/how-to-lucid-dream.htm
http://www.wikihow.com/Lucid-Dream

And to answer the original question, I'm sure smoking too much weed can result in some damage, but then again so can drinking too much coffee. If you stick to normal vaping loads, it should be fine.

now we're talking about lucid dreams anyway...
I've had a few, one of wich was intentional.
I tried the WILD-technique a few times, I choose this method since as I said I rarely dream, and at the time I tried lucid dreaming was in a period where I only dreamed once ever 3-6 months or so. so statting a dreamjourbal and trying to increase recall so I could do a MILD or DILD would take far too long, so I decided to try WILD.
a few times I almost succeeded but would never get past a certain point, I was laying in bed and got all kinds of weird sensations, like feeling being sucked into the matress, every breath it felt like my chhest expanded to enormous size, I felt waves trough my body etc, and felt like I was almost into sleep paralysis but not fully, and every time I didn't succeed in actually getting into a dream
but one time it worked. I got an OBE(out f body experience) at first, I saw myself laying in my bed etc, but I ddn't want an OBE, I wanted a lucd dream. so by trying to turn my body(bit sonce I would be in sleep paralysis, only my dreambody would move was the thought behind that), and I succeeded in forcing myself into a lucid dream. this only lasted shortly, but I did shoot fire with my finger(I pointed with my finger and fire would appear, no jet of fire or so in between my finger and what I wanted to burn)
but I couldn't do much more than that since quickly after that the dream ended already.
further than that I've never come.
later I also had a regular dream wich made me realise LDing is more complex as I thought. I always thought it was as simple as knowing that you dream while you're dreaming, but that one dream made ne realise that isn't true: there was a point in that dream where I knew I was dreaming, since I remember that in my dream I had a certain thought, don't remember the words of that thought but it also included that I was dreaming. but I didn't turn lucid, it was an ordinary dream where I wasn't in control like in a lucid dream.

Activation of the cannabinoid receptors in the brain has actually been shown to increase the rate of growth of neurons in the hippocampus(memory and learning center of brain) in live rats. [http://m.jci.org/articles/view/25509]

There is another study that followed teens through their development that's shown that light use of herb (they defined "light" as less than 5 j's a week) did not decrease IQ growth at all in teens who partook (rather, this test group actually had higher increases in IQ on average than teens who never partook, but the increase was deemed insignificant). They also had other interesting findings .. teens who were current heavy users had a decrease in IQ growth, but teens who were former heavy users who quit had no change in IQ growth. This implies that even heavy usage doesn't decrease IQ permanently. [http://www.cmaj.ca/content/166/7/887.long]

So since vapers usually use less material than combusters, and vapor has little to no toxic combustion product, I don't think vaping can decrease with your intelligence at all! (At least if you're not doing it all the time)

Problem is that it's soooo much easier to vape all the time! lol I know if it wasn't for vapour, i'd either be an edibles user or just abstain.

If anyone is REALLY REALLY interested in dreaming - read a few of these books by this dude:

I read all 7(?) of his books, they are a real mindbender - and deal with dreaming in depth.

For the last 8 months or so, I've been travelling to another country for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Since I'm not foolish enough to smuggle weed with me, the result is forced tolerance breaks. 2 or 3 weeks off the weed, then 2 or 3 weeks back on it, HARD :) Vapes and edibles, pretty much all day every day.

I also keep a dream diary. The periods when I'm at home are almost totally blank, I hardly ever remember my dreams when I'm on weed.

Responding to the first question in this thread.. Sometimes when I take a few really massive hits in a row, I start to lose my vision, it just goes dark like ink spreading across my vision. I also see some faint stars or sparkly bits, around the edges of the blackness, like I'm going into another dimension! I lose some control of my body, my hands sometimes shake like someone with parkinsons disease! It only lasts 5-10 seconds. Its even happened to me a few times in coffeeshops in Amsterdam. The weird thing is, when I come back to normal, I feel like I've been in another place, like in a dream. I feel very refreshed and calm, almost enlightened, like I've been in a deep meditation. This makes me wonder about those cultures that use hash for religious/meditational reasons - Maybe this is the exact effect they are aiming for? Because it almost feels like I'm breaking through into some inner dimension of my mind when this happens.

how was your sleep/withdrawl when you abstained for a couple weeks?

When I'm overseas, I don't fall asleep quite so easily on the first few nights. But I think this is also because I'm in a different bed/location. The quality of sleep is about the same, once I'm used to the new location. However, I usually wake up a few times during the night, this is normal for me. With a strong edible, I can sleep all the way through to the morning.

Because I'm away from home, I'm stimulated by new sights/sounds and I don't miss the weed too much. When theres only a few days left until I'm home, I start really looking forward to vaping again! There are no physical withdrawal symptoms at all.

When your vision darkens like that, it's because your brain isn't getting enough blood(oxygen). Can either happen from just plain oxygen deprivation, like holding in a huge bong rip that had no air in it, or from the marijuana increasing your heart rate. Like, have you ever seen anyone "OD" on weed? They get all pale and slow, can't stand up. It's happened to me once, and I've seen it happen to others once or twice. It's just the effects of a racing heart. Heart is pumping blood so fast it can't pick up oxygen and the whole body is deprived. Can last a few seconds or up to around 10 minutes. There's a medical name for it...probably gonna butcher it, but Tachacarditis.

No matter how high your tolerance is, if you consume over half a gram of good hash in a small edible, you're going to get a little visuals

agree it being tolerance related, well i know its the case with me. im very sensitive as well and get some rather intense fractal patterns intertwined with geometric shapes and tunnels that encompass my entire vision, etc etc on mj, the light from it is sometimes blinding and the voices....very real, i sometimes experience this out of session if i had a huge night previously ending a break (set and setting is key for me). if i dont take a break for about 2-3 weeks or so they eventually pass and hard to reach unless i slam a few bowls (which usually dumps me into some void, no thanks :uhoh:...well, sometimes thanks lol), so a break is needed on occasion. for this reason, i stick with mj as it handles all i want for altered consciousness/realities although i know i could go higher. :science:

posted elsewhere on here but i no longer have intense dreams without the dream herb (google it), break or no break...just how ive been since i entered adulthood (way before tokin). peace

anyhow, best i can tell im not damaging anything but ive yet to do any brain scans to prove it. usually your intuition is a good guide, follow it till you stub your toe and toke till it hurts no moe. :D

Thanks for the info my friend! I suspected it was oxygen-related.

Actually, an empty stomach isn't ideal for edibles, due to a phenomenon known as the First Pass Effect. It's better to eat something first - a snack or a light meal seems to work well for me.

But to answer the OP's question: yes, it is possible to damage your brain vaping bowl after bowl, as long as you whack your head with a mallet each time you toke.

The first pass effect does exist, but it only increases the efficiency of absorption.

When you consume a very small concentrated edible on an empty stomach, its still going to absorb quicker and hit you all at once than if you ate a snack with it.

When you're consuming half a gram of strong hash in your stomach at once, a little increase in abosorption efficiency is fairly unnoticeable, however, just like the difference between a dab & the omicron, having it all hit you at once really does a number for the visual/psychedelic aspects.

Honestly, I seriously wouldn't want to absorb more thc in that situation, both times I've done the half gram hash challenge I didn't feel un-high for 12 hrs :o [[on empty stomach]]

When I'm consuming a reasonable amount of edibles, I definitely do have a light snack beforehand, because in that case, absorption efficiency definitely matters.

Well whether you recollect your dreams or not you are still reaping the benefits from them happening, which they most certainly are. The only thing you might be missing is what lessons they might have to teach you about someone or something, but some people don't buy that anyway. At least with vaping I can remember my dreams half the time, but certainly not if I'm smoking alot.

Yeah, I agree. I think you mostly remember dreams only when you wake up or nearly wake up; the one you are most likely to remember is the last one before you wake in the morning. Weed makes you sleep much more soundly, its one of the main reasons people use it. You are less inclined to wake through the night or drift in and out of sleep, so less likely to remember dreams, but you still have them, just as usual. I have found that if I am taking an interest in dreams and keep a notebook and pen by my bed, and tell myself when retiring that I want to remember dreams, then I will remember them, and the longer I stay interested the more I remember. This is true whether vaping or not. Inevitably I get too lazy after a while to keep writing them down, which must be the first thing you do on waking or you will forget 99% of a long dream in seconds. If I stop writing them down, I stop remembering them again.
