Note to mods: I really couldn't pick which thread to put this in since it applies to so many (Nano, various bubbler/glass threads, Aeon Glass thread, etc...). Hence why I created a thread myself to avoid x-posting. If this is an issue, please move to where ever you see fit.
So I finally got my unlabeled Jahnpixel/redglassgallery (Aeon Glass) 65mm "matrix tire" bubbler in the mail!

Was super stoked to have finally gotten this thing since the holidays really held things up... however the fact that I got the bubbler for $175 got me through those hard times. Sadly, my 18mm GonGs didn't make it so a trip to my local LHD was needed to pick up a ground glass 18 to 14mm reducer. Anyway, I promised a few members that I would write up a review once I got the piece... and here we are! In any case, I am a glass "noob", and am simply trying to give my unbiased opinion based on first impressions and a day's worth of use.
Now, the first thing I noticed as I took the piece out of the box was a black speck inside the matrix "tire". I could see it through the bubble wrap. At first, I thought it was something stuck inside the bubbler. Upon further inspection, though, I found that it was stuck inside the glass.
Now I have no idea how big of a problem this is, other than being a slight blemish... and I am not claiming it's anything more than that. I'm assuming its part of how the glass was made, something got stuck in there while it was being blown or whatever. Not a huge deal IMO, since I wasn't buying a "show piece"... but I would like input as to WTF this is? My guess is carbon or something.
Anyway, aside from that there are various scratches in the glass and what not. Again, not a big deal but if you are looking for a flawless piece look elsewhere. Here are some untouched photos I took of parts I felt had minor visual flaws (again nothing I'm griping about personally).
Those lines are on the inside wall and came off with iso. I'm more showing you the weld.
Still a pretty piece!
Oh, and how about some slo-mo action replay! Be sure to adjust the resolution!
And least but not least the money shot. Relax and enjoy:
I will let the more experienced among you draw further conclusions there, but it seems not everything on the perc was firing? Granted I've yet to play with water levels, etc...
Now for my opinion on the whole thing. I like it! The mouth piece feels really good, its at the perfect height for me along with the perfect bend in the neck. Ergonomically its a win for me! Its also easy to clear and while, yes I see what they mean by having some chug to it, the clear is very smooth. Hits are also still very flavorful, and thats exactly what I wanted. Basically, so far I am happy with my purchase.
