California CANNABIS CIVILIZED = CCC = "M" = CALFORNIA BUMPER CROP!
Prices are down on Canada west coast by 50% over last time this year $800/lbs. Insane over supply here with all the companies starting up and grow licences being granted.
IMO former prices were justified by risk, it's only worth a few hundred a pound in reality.

Did you see not @beyond6strings' post as to why prices are down? They will eventually go up again & assumably even more so with new regulations.

Yeah, I could go on for days about this topic...truth is packaging is about control. Retailers should test their products before selling. It's just a plant :)
When you go to the grocery store fruits veggies are not packaged nor is butcher meat but its not mouldy or expired because the stores are constantly rotating products and comply to gov't standards.
The way the whole industry is being treated is such a bs money grab...only benifit on the governments side is capitalization so it only makes sense.
What your seeing here is just an "expired meat" sales.
Prices won't go up unless it's tax related. Due to competition I believe prices will go down as they've shown in the past several years.
One thing to understand is where the prices originated from. They were based on the risk of it being illegal. A lot of people think prices will remain close because there are so many hands in the coockie jar but productions rates are getting insane and that will drop price in any industry..basic economics

I have used the XL condenser and spinning mouthpiece from my XLS nonavong with the XL Omni stem with great results. I myself do not find the omni condenser/mouthpiece necessary. But I am all about the XL stem length.

It shouldn't cost more then any other plant so yes.
The reason mold is found on weed in the end is cuz it's high value makes it hard to throw out.
If it sold for the same as a head of lettuce there would be no hesitation to discard.
Food waste is huge to keep up with standards..no so much with weed, people always try to pull fast ones and much of those extracts originated as bud rot. The gov't is saying there needs to be better controls and I don't disagree completely but bottom line is, it's just a plant and cost very little to grow if you know what your doing.

Absolutely-but it takes a while for that to happen. We will have dispensaries opening in Massachusetts July 1. The only shops that will be able to have everything together as it pertains to regulation by that date are going to be the medical providers, and not all of them will offer recreational.

The dispensary nearest me that offers medical cannabis has an across the board $47 per 1/8th price. If they don't raise the price at all, and only add tax which will run 17-20%, that will take the cost up to $56-$60, per 1/8th. That is way above street price.

But that will come down. Over time. But we're going to need to have way more growers for way more dispensaries for that to happen. And that's going to take time.

We legalized medical cannabis in '12 but didn't open our first medical dispensary until '15. And we legalized recreational cannabis in '16 and won't open the doors to dispensaries until July 1 at the earliest. We are moving at a turtle's pace.

I have decided that I'm going to fully support the legal market and take my lump$. I've been fighting for the legalization of this plant for 40 years, and when I'm given a legal alternative to get cannabis that has been tested and analyzed I'm going to take it, and pay a premium in the short term.

I fully expect to see $25-$40 1/8ths in the future. And I think we'll see over time that price will be a reflection of quality, and not supply and demand. Because as you say-production rates are getting insane.

In the Northwest side of Las Vegas I typically pay between $35 on the low side and $60 on the high side for the legal stuff. That is before taxes and the tip I give the delivery drivers.
Excise tax is 10%, Sales tax is 8.25%

When I place an order for delivery I always spend $100 or more. This gives me free delivery. So for example, I'll place an order with Apothecarium right now for an eighth of Orange Cookies for $60 and an eighth of Super Lemon Haze for $40. It will be delivered to me in about an hour and half to two hours. The price will be $118.25 plus a tip for the driver.

I also have access to the non legal stuff. "The guy" will part with his product for $40 an eighth. No tax, no tip, no delivery

The store bought stuff always looks nice, very few small stems. I get a report, which I hope is accurate, on the THC level so I can pick the strength I want. Many of the strains I buy are envirocann certified. I don't know if that makes it better or if it is just a label. I can place an order for delivery to my door between 10AM and 6PM. I earn store credits with each purchase. The one time they screwed up an order they made it right by giving me free herb. Every time I buy an OZ they give me a free stash jar.

The stuff from "the guy" will range from as good as store bought to having a little log down the center of a nice bud. I have no idea one time to the next if the potency is going to be what I want. I may have to wait a day for it to be available.

that sounds amazing, I can't wait to be able to buy in a store

question to those that use hemp beneath the CCD, how do you manage to not combust the hemp? a little smoke always goes out the side of tip when there is hemp.

Many American grow companies are setting up shop here. There are a ton of licensed producers and they are the providers for prescribed consumers...they sell direct.
There are as many dispensaries here as gas stations and the dispensaries are not where people get meds from...they are for recreational users for the most part and charge about 30-35cdn per 1/8, they work in the grey zone, are illegal and have been going through constant court battles for several years. Licensed producers are not allowed to sell to them and acquire their product illegally.
Depending who you know street prices range from $100-160oz and increase as you move east.
The area I live in has a population of under 250k and there are 35,000 prescribed licensed growers (not commercial growers) holding licenses from 25-250 plants.
To my knowedge pot is still illegal in every state for recreation on a federal level which is why the Americans are setting up shop here. They are not permitted to trade on the stock exchange but are welcome on the tsx.

The amount of time it takes to setup these mega facilities seems like it happens in the blink of an eye. They're huge don't kid yourself about quality, they are having more issues with mold then anyone. One thing about pot is it's hard to produce on huge scale and mold happens fast and is difficult to isolate without complete tear downs.

The only way to know exactly what your getting is to grow your own which will soon be legal here for recreational users as well.
If you are a medical user that is licensed to grow why waste money? My prescription is for 7g/day. For many people that equites to what they make in a day if buying from a producer...

It's funny cuz up here I look at what's going on and the figures pouring about production and I ask myself where the hells it all going? The figures are being measured in Tons it's unreal.
What I said about deflating prices is already apparent here. If prices get to high in stores it just welcomes the underground market. Especially with the government allowing people grow their own. You can't control that, you can try but it's impossible. People will always take advantage and try to capitalize especially in these difficult financial times for some.
The underground market will always exist with something like this. It's one of the reasons for legalization and if stores charge to much people will go elsewhere. Uruguay was the first country to make it actually legal and enforced a $1/gram rule to drive out cartel which was their primary focus.
The biggest problem with pot is the dollar value we put on it which again is based on the danger pay cuz it was illegal. Take away money and there's very little wrong with it.

@Sander,@beyond6strings,@HughJundys, & others :)

I just sent a pm to the mods asking if they could start a thread in the Lounge & move this discussion/posts over there. I think it's interesting, & I would like to participate, but don't want to waste my time if the OT conversation is deleted. And I would hate to see your good, controversial , posts deleted.

If they don't move it over, but don't delete your posts, maybe I'll just start a thread over & start it out with quoting your posts in the opening post. Then I'll be free to reply. Well, it's a plan. ;)

Great thread title, @Stu! I'm sure it delighted @ataxian. ;) Thanks ever so much for moving these over to the Lounge!

I disagree with several statements expressed here, but as the thread, now, (thanks to Stu) is not going anywhere, there's no rush for me to post my thoughts. And all our collective opinions are not gonna change what already is & what the true future outcome will be.

I'll post some of my thoughts within the next week, whenever I have a little time & am so inclined to. So please do watch this thread. I think this could be a nice, & fun, conjecture discussion.

@Sander, I don't want it to be a rant. I only want a nice, easy, intellectual discourse.

Arguably, the price is a little on the high side, but primo service & benefits sound like concierge service to me. (Insert a green-with-envy smilie here ;)).
