Butane Torches

Well, cheap in price but hopefully not in quality! I got a 10 buck honest torch (similar to the one sold on the lotus site) and a 20 dollar vector torch.

If it doesn't matter i guess ill try some mid level fuel just to prolong the life a bit. Thanks for the info!

Follow up question: would the quality of the butane be more noticeable in a blue flame, pinpoint tip style lighter over the yellow, soft flame ones? (I bought one of each, soft flame for my VG and blue flame for other vapes). I'd prefer to fill them both with the same butane if it doesn't matter.

Those torches are probably smaller than most of the models people are talking about here. The smaller, bic-lighter-sized torches always seem to jam up so I try and use high quality fuel for them.

My LHS always has an assortment of "mid-shelf" brands that I've never heard of but which all say 3x filtered or 5x filtered. They sell for $5 for a large can so it's considerably cheaper than vector. Does anyone have any opinion about these?

Ah thanks for the heads up. Yeah they are very small torches as I prefer using them on-the-go. I got some Vector and Colibri butane so hopefully they'll work without a hitch with the top notch stuff.

Any opinions on Iolite's butane brand? I came across it on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pure-Iolite...104?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2332c57690 They recommend using it with their vapes which means it's either high quality or they're 'marketing' haha. It's cheaper too. From that link I posted it looks like it may just be rebranded Newport butane? I'll post in the iolite thread to see if I can get some info.

On a related note I've seen that people have been having mixed results with Vector lately? Apparently its made in Korea and quality has gone down a bit and Iolite removed them from their 'recommended butane' list. Just throwin it out there for those who may be interested/concerned. :)

Dabs are vapor too!
So I picked up the BB&B torch today. Had a heck of a time finding it, sales guy finally helped me. He sez "man we've been selling a bunch of these lately". He was a young guy with a bunch of tats, but I guess he doesn't know why

I tried filling it with my Xikar can, the nozzle fits fine on my Honest torches, but didn't seem to fit the BB&B.
There was a bit of "backspray". I got some in, 'cause it will work, but I think I need another adapter or something. Any idea what I should get?

I'm going to throw in another vote for the Bonjour brand chefs torch*. Mine has seen four years of hard use in a restaurant kitchen, culinary school, my own personal kitchen and now as my (and my girlfriends) daily dabbing torch. I have never had a single issue with it. On a medium flame it heats up my TiPower domeless in 30 seconds and my ceramic domeless in 15. The only complaint I've ever had with it, or rather my girlfriend has had, is that the safety switch can be a little heavy if you have smaller or weaker fingers.

Oftentimes cans of butane will have a number of different adapters built into the cap, designed to be pressed or snapped out as needed. Might try looking there or looking for a can with said adapters next time you pick up butane.

You probably know this, but there's videos on youtube about removing the safety - looks easy.

My can didn't come with extra fill tubes. The one in there is "stepped", looks like I could cut it to make it wider, but then it might not fit my Honest lighters.

I actually didn't, that is awesome! Thanks!

I didn't realize that the BB&B Torch was the same as the Voctor/Bonjour at first. I've never had an issue using a standard butane can with it. I usually use fasfill or vector. Never tried Xikar. You do have to press it in slightly more firmly then expected. It also starts to overspray once it gets close to being full. I've never had a problem filling this torch with normal gas station butane, which uses the same nozzle as most high end butane at your LHS, so I simply couldn't tell you.

When I walked in to BBB today a young guy immediately asked if he could help me with anything. I asked if they had any creme brûlée torches, he also said "we've been selling a bunch of these lately". As he was directing me toward them he asked if it was for creme brûlée or "other purposes". When I said other purposes he straight up said "concentrates?". Then handed me the box and said "this is the one the last guy bought". I guess it's a big seller.

I was well medicated at the time, it was pretty funny.

I have been using the Newport for a while, no issues. I bought it because the flame length doesn't change much when pointing the torch up or down. I like to heat my banger only on the bottom, as elsewhere is a waste of butane IMHO. It takes very little time to heatup thick bangers like that, less than 20 sec.

How are eagle products? I've been seeing their pocket torches more lately? I would consider torches are catching on as a result of concentrates.

Sorry if this has been posted but I just saw this today and thought at least one of yall might like it.

You just pop it on top of a regular square disposable lighter and it converts it into a torch lighter. Seems pretty sweet but if you're inhaling with it I wonder if the increased heat makes it burn more healthy or not?

i've had a few of those. They don't sustain a flame well, so not too good for nail heating.
the best part of it to me is the lighter it comes with. Looks like a regular disposable but has a valve for refilling.

ended up copping the newport mini found HERE. should be here tomorrow. now i need to find some decent butane near me. dont really want to go to a LHS for fear of paying some ridiculous price. do smoke/cigar shops carry decent tane? i can get cans of master and weiler brand butane, but that is to power butane tools. i doubt its refined enough to keep my torch from clogging.

I've got one of those Aomai slim lighters with the Flint. My Flint just gave out.

Any links on where I can get some instructions on how to replace the Flint? It's the reason I tried these lighters in the first place! Link to lighter below

Hiya, you just need to pinch (nails help) thumb and middle finger around the wheel and pull it out upwards. Once it's out turn it upside down and you'll see the spring loaded screw that needs undoing to insert the new flint. Takes 30 seconds, same principle as the Clipper lighters (ex smokers will know what I mean!).
