Brilliant Cut Grinder

Notice the difference in the texture of the grinders? BC Grinder is so smooth it doesn't even look like metal...while some of those surfaces on the GL Grinder look rather old and rough. Those spirals just seem like a gimmick but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for the comparison shots. It looks like the GL grinder has gotten significantly more use than the BC, however. Just look at the glossy texture for the bottom bowl of the grinder! Lovely!

I think for consistent test quality, no one would be upside down grinding. While everyone knows that tech, the vast majority will use the Brilliant like any other grinder: topside on top. If we know the grind will be more fine grinding upside down, what’s the point? It would only serve to confuse the difference of grind consistency between the three plates. Not trying to be rude, just my thoughts on the testers’ techniques.

My point was not that I think you should or if it was grinded upside down....

My point was that I did not see any actual grinding and could not see how many turns....or how big the turn/twist were or any other aspects loading then grinding. So I have no idea what was going on other than seeing grinds getting dumped out.

But also to your point of being able to see the difference in the grind pics..... unless you can see the grinds all in the same exact holding container or what ever...it is hard to see the difference in comparison.

So maybe show side by side or easily seen differences of the grinds.....by putting them all in the exact type of holding element...say a teaspoon for example. Take a pic from almost same angle/height and then you can put pics side by side to see the relative differences in grind size.

Thanks @antispleen for the comparison. I have a few questions. Is there any mechanical connection between the bottom and middle on the GLG besides the magnetic connection? Is it just relying on the 5 magnet pairs on the outside edge to transfer torque between the parts?

We pride ourselves on premium surface finishes. The grinders look like that when they leave the CNC. We spend the extra time to slow down the feed rate on each cut to ensure that we get the surface finish that this grinder deserves. This makes the anodized finish bright too. I'm personally making these right now, so I inspect every single part multiple times during production. Quality is very important to us and surface finish is one part of that.

Okay I’m sorry but I don’t remember and cannot find where the plate situation and what you get was fully covered. Although I’m pretty sure it’s been covered. Please forgive me for asking again...

So when @Grinders for Life finally concedes to take my money, how does it work exactly?

For the $99 CAD, do I get the sexy silver* grinder body & the plate of my choice? With the option to buy the others if desired? I only really want one grind plate because the others won’t be used.

When I got the big GR8TR, it came with both plates but after trying both, I quickly settled on one and the other hasn’t seen daylight since and of course I made it a 3-piece because 3-piece grinders are the best.** I guess that some might want to switch out plates for a particular vaporizer maybe, but I’m way too lazy and all my vapes like it fine & fluffy.

* This is my grinder fantasy. You can pick your favourite hue in your own sick daydreams.
However I believe that the good folks at GFL might be making this colour decision infinitely more difficult in the very near future! :brow:
** Not an opinion. Empirical data. Fact.

Yeah for $99 CAD / $75 USD, you get the grinder with the plate of your choice. The others will be available as add-ons. There will be bundle discounts most likely.

We want to eventually make a grinder builder web-app where you can customize the colours of each part. We could make different top designs as well instead of the brilliant cut. We could possibly even have customized engravings or laser marking for an extra cost. Would you guys appreciate that?

@Diggy Smalls, did you say you wanted a purple and green grinder?

I think the builder app and possible engravings is a great idea. I bet a lot of people would take advantage of that.

Not asking for a firm time frame, but do you think we're looking at a few weeks until production units are released for sale, or more likely a couple of months? Understand unexpected things come up, but just your best guess right now.

Also, any chance for a pre-order for FC with a slight discount?

Edit: Can any of our beta testers take a video of them loading and grinding from start to finish? Preferably on YouTube instead of IG, but any would work. Maybe even make it a hellish grind to show what the BCG can do. Chunks just thrown in there, in the middle, along the outside edge, etc. Thanks!

Yeah being able to choose colors for each section ml would be cool. I think a green/purple would be awesome. I don't know yet if green purple green or purple green purple would look best.
I think the ability to customize it for a small fee would be cool, but I would definitely customize the color options if I had the choice.

Alright buddy, it’s 11:30 at night in my corner of the world. Are y’all trying to screw with my sleep?! Like I don’t have problems, now I’ll be thinking about what I want engraved on my imaginary grinder! Gahhh!!

On the model I have there is only the magnets, no lip like the picture on their site shows. And it does not hang on very well. That grinder is an absolute pain to use.

A $99 grinder requires that I wait until they are in the wild and compared to other top shelf grinders. So far this thing looks great. I am very interested.

Yeah, I need a new grinder yesterday, and I have my eyes on this one. I was thinking about a cali crusher homegrown, or now cali crusher 2.0 which only have a quarter turn, but no threads is better than a little threading. Assuming no tragedy comes into my life, I plan on buying one as soon as possible. If there's a preorder I'll do it. I'm not sure if I want fine, medium, or course grind, but probably medium or fine.

Suit yourself. I'm holding my breath for the pre-order!

You guys know that was basically me. After @lazylathe so kindly shared with us his impressions of the first ones I basically contacted @Grinders for Life and said shut up and take my money! He kindly sent me a test unit instead!

You guys are in for a treat! I sincerely think this is the best unit by far on the market. It requires very little force to turn and its been jam free so far. I've been grinding near fill louds and have been satisfied by the grinds so far.

What's nice about this is if you get more than 1 plate you can select different plate colors w/o needing to look at the holes; you'll know right away which plate you're using or grabbing based on color.

Like I'd probably do a complete blue grinder with a coarse plate & then purple for medium & green plates for fine. And blue & green & blue & purple would look stunning together. Well, imo.

Here ya go. The fine plate takes a bit, but i usually remove the stems and break it up a bit, but for this video I wanted to just chuck it in and go.

Fantastic, much appreciated! That fine grind is nice and fine. Love that it was able to handle the stems and big chunks just thrown in there.

Yep, I need this grinder in my life!

I imagine I'd probably want a fine and medium plate for myself. But might settle on just one after I see some more comparisons between grinds, and which plates the beta testers end up liking the best.

Thanks @antispleen much appreciated. Beautiful, love how you didn't break them up much, and you really stuffed the fine grind!

I love the idea of different colors for the different plates, but I'll likely get the fine and just use that, though the medium does look nice. The course is what my space case gives me, and it's okay, but I world prefer a fine grind.

Wow. I hope this grinder blows up. It's my dream grinder. At first I was a little worried about the size, but I have decided the size is fine. It fits in the hand nicely, it looks. As long as it remains easy to turn and maintain, it doesn't seem to need extra size or grips to make it easier to turn.

That immaculately smooth finish and lack of threads is going to help keep it smooth moving for longer.

So any chance of telling us if there will be a '220V' version available to the folks here in Europe? :ko:

@Grinders for Life, could we see some pics of all the colours you've made up to now? Some mix-and-match pics would be great too.
Had the same idea as @Summer. Different colours for the middle plate makes it easier to distinguish them. BTW are there already any marks or something else on the middle plates for distinguishing?

@Hogni I was just using the '220V' as a metaphor for either having a European distributor or looking into a 'secure' way to ship these already costly little gems and get them into European hands:p

We are mostly 'left in the dark' here in Europe when it comes to vapestuff, or need to gamble (read customs shit) if it needs to cross any big open waters

A grinder is a simpler object so shipping it international should be less of an issue. It's not like an early Evo that could have melted if you plugged it in overseas. May be subject to tariffs in the USA though since it's a chunk of metal but coming from Canada the rest of the world should be okay.
