Hello all what a cool site thanks for having me. Now as title says Im new to vaping and had a few questions, I have looked over the site but cant seem to find the answers to the simplist questions so here goes.
1. Does it really depend how good the herb is like do you still get thc vapours from dirtweed
2. It seems to be a different high then Im used to and takes a while to feel it and it dosent seem to get me where I like to be (as high as bongs)
3. What is the best bud to vape. Sticky stanky bud or dry bud. The bud Im using is very dry crumbles in fingers and thats why I think Im not getting what I should be.

Anyways thats a start, Ive been a long time smoker but my lungs cant really handle the bongs anymore and vaping seem to be perfect for me as long as I can get to my happy place. The biggest thing thats annoying me is how long it takes to vape. I mean I can do like 6 bongs in about 5 mins and all is good. But with vaping it seems like Im sucking on vapour forever and to get close to that feeling it takes like 40 mins.
FYI I have a Iolite and quite sure Im using it right but I think my bud is just to dry to get ture effect but it seems to be giving off lots vapour for like 10 mins with a normal bong sized bowl. I will be getting some sticky stuff soon. Thanks for any responses Z:peace:

my thoughts:

(1) if there are trichomes, a vape will extract them. i.e., you can't get blood from a beet

(2) yes, the high is different ... give the vapor time to clean the crap out of your lungs, and the high will improve. But it will always be different because there are fewer toxins being absorbed by your lungs.

(3) expose the trichomes to the vapor airflow - open up the sticky stank so as much surface area is exposed as possible. Be careful to not knock the trichomes off the leaf material.

Get a microscope ($10 at Radio Shack) to examine the trichomes. Give the vape something to work with. The vape will always produce vapor, but when the bud is really good, the vapor is really unbelievable.

I can completely relate. The Iolite can be a drag when your in a hurry. I just got a Magic Flight Launch Box after using my Iolite extensively and the LB is a lot speedier. I also think it gets me to a higher level than the IO. Dont give up on vaping, just try a different vape.

It can be difficult to make the change when you are used to and like those big smokey hits. I have a friend who still struggles with the change over. We found, after much experimenting, that a whip style vape was the best bet for her. It delivers larger hits consistently. I personally use a Myrtlezap and a Launch Box for my daily needs. You can also get huge hits off those, but it takes a little more practice.

Vaping does take more time and does give you a different effect. It's sort of a more leisurely way to get a buzz. At first, the difference in high was more noticeable to me, but now that I've vaped exclusively (with a couple of exceptions) for several months, I find the buzz more intense. It's more of a head high, with no couch lock. Although I stuck to it and didn't combust, it probably took me a month in all to completely change over to vaping mentally. I also kept thinking I wasn't getting high enough. I no longer feel that way, and in fact, feel that I actually get higher than I used to and with more energy. I would never go back to combusting and can honestly say, for the first time in 44 years, that I would probably turn down a joint.

I vape mids and have no problems with getting a good buzz off them. Drying your herb seems to be something that is a personal preference for some people and not others. I think I read that whip style vapes don't need as dry of herb as the log style and LB. I use dry herb in all of my vapes.

See if you can try out as many vapes as possible and try to find the one that suits your style the best. If you can't do that, try to read as much as possible here in the Vaporizer Discussion threads. Continue to post questions for all the knowledgeable people here. I'm sure you will find the vape that's good for your needs. :) Good luck!

I just made the switch from heavy smoking a few weeks ago. I researched it carefully because I didn't want to spend a lot of money for something I didn't end up loving. Watching people use their vapes on YouTube was the best I could do, as I don't know anyone else around me who vapes. Watching the dudes get SILLY high off an SSV and a DBV, exhaling big thick clouds of vapor, convinced me that that was the type I needed.

So I've only used a DBV so far, but am so satisfied. Mere minutes from turning it on for the day to wake-and-vake - before the coffee has finished brewing!

I would have liked an Iolite for portable use, but I think I prefer higher temperatures than what it does, and I definitely like to vary the temperature a little depending on what I've got. I can't say whether dry or sticky is better to vape, but sticky is certainly harder to grind up.

If you can try out someone's DBV or SSV, you might find that's more your style. Heavy-smoking friend was shocked at how well my DBV performed.

Again though, that's the only kind I've tried. I bet there are a lot of vapes that would be right for you, but sounds like the Iolite maybe isn't one of them.

Thanks for all the replys. So heres what Im going to do for awhile, just got some supreme BC bud tried vaping first in my LB (yes since first post I purchase This little guy, to me gives bigger hits then Iolite but i find the batteries a little annoying) but this weed is very very very sticky and vaping it didnt do much to me. So to the closet I go and get out my big bertha bong and 4 bongs later I couldnt talk.
So for now what I will do is use my vapes through the day (with my normal weed)as needed because that buzz is great to be around people but later a night after kiddies sleep big bertha time. I think I will like this routine I really wanted to get off combustion completely but honestly I cant get as high from vaping ( i tried drawing my hits several ways but just not there) and I like to get deep fried before bed so I think only the bong will do (and some stanky BC bub). What ya think Z

Hey that's my name LOL. I think the LB can get you where you want to be. You haven't mentioned in your posts what you are grinding with. The LB requires a very fine grind to work it's best and to grind that fine with a hand grinder your herb needs to be pretty dry. I am talking almost salt grain fine, or push your dried herb through a sifter.

Fill your trench 3/4 full and go at it with a nice freshly charged battery, inhaling nice and slow. You want to feel the heat in the vapor and in your case be on the border of combustion to get all available actives out of your herb.

With some experience I am sure you will get DeepFried from the Launch Box.

Hello Z-Rock, welcome to fc. I will try to answer you questions as I best can.

1. You can get vapor from any type of bud that has thc in it. Less thc less vapor.
2. Depending on what vape you use depends on how high you will get. A Bong is a lever for your weed, and it will get you higher, so if you're not vaporbonging the comparison is flawed.
3. Dry buds are what you want, if they are sticky that is good, moist is bad, there is a difference between sticky and moist.

The io I've heard is a lower tolerance vape and I heard you have to vape the entire thing. For vaping you get more out of it, you're not combusting everything away when you smoke, it takes a little time. I can vapor bong .15 in like 30 mins to 1 hour, but I enjoy it.I could make it last 10 mins if I really wanted to.

If you have anymore questions you can stop by our Chatroom, at the top right on this page, and there are many knowledgeable vaporists there who can give you real time answers.

Have a good one,

~Konrad

Like they said - dry and ground fine. I wrap a few buds in a black rag and leave it in the sun for an hour just before grinding. Also, I have one grinder that does not get it as fine as I would like for the LB or IO, but its fine for everything else. Its a sweetleaf. I have a super cheap plastic one that really gets it ground up so I have been using that for now.
