i be a plastiphobe and i be fiercely proud of it ... i got only one word to say: BPA ... entered commercial use for food applications in 1957, more or less banned in 2010.

i am not a materials engineer/scientist, but i trust borosilicate glass. particularly in a device that heats to over 400°F. one that gets used several times a day, every day.

All glass is a white elephant IMO - more shit to break and not necessarily the best tasting.

The Mighty and Crafty both taste better than each Cloud/Cloud Plus I have used, better than the sub, better than the E-nano (both of which I have owned and used extensively).

Remember, all glass is only necessary when we are dealing with manufacturers who don't have top notch engineers who can determine the appropriateness of any material, not just the low hanging fruit (everyone who knows anything about vape materials knows that glass is inert, but it is also fragile and unwieldy as fuck!).

I too once thought that all glass was the holy grail. The Versa Infinity fiasco definitely showed me to be careful what you wish for; but after seeing this brave new world of tasty cloud producing non-offgassing plastic vapes - I am prepared to eat my words and accept that all glass is not necessarily the best at all!

Interesting, my buddy bought the Crafty and was complaining about severe plastic smell offgassing for the first while. Just my opinion ofcourse, but just because you can't smell something anymore, doesn't mean there isn't any residual offgassing going on, sometimes the herb can just mask it. I'm definitely a plastiphobe, in fact that was just one of the reasons why I sold my Herbie, but I realize that everyone's nose has different sensitivities.

@Engineer I hope your travels are going well and please pop back in with an update whenever you get a chance!

sorry but then you have an other crafty then mine... the nano beats the crafty regarding taste (and also everything else)...
but try it yourself...can you determine differnt strains in your crafty... i can t really also the first hits arent really tasty... but i can do that deffintly with my nano...

and i also have to say that my crafty smelled like plastic... is smelling like plastic especially the cooling unit...

but maybe you have an faulty enano or a better crafty then me... and please don t forget food save is in no means "vapor safe" food goes into your stomach vapor in your lungs and also food and vapor are two different things ... i don t get it why everybody is always highlighting food save when we are speaking about vapor and not food....

Almost there...
@btka
I have mentioned this a lot in the Crafty thread.
I call it a "blended" flavour that loses all the nuances of the parent material.
If i use the same bud in my Nano or MiniVap or any other vape I own those nuances are right there! Delicate and tasty!!

I am finding that the Crafty gives a good robust flavour and I am sure it would work perfectly with regular tobacco.
Anyone care to try this??

I would like to see a white led light built in to my volcano so you can see the vapor.

Also any vape with a fan should have a speed selector for the air flow rate so you can really control the vapor thickness/strength.

And bag fillers should have an auto stop function imo.

...just my thoughts.

one thing i would like to be improved when possible is the degrading taste when you vaporize (one thing which did not happen when i was combusting or at least i didn t taste it... when you vaporize the first one maybe three hits taste good but after that it doesn t really (to me)... and i always have the feeling if i stop vaping after the taste is going to not so good i am wasting herb...
especially regarding session vapes...

but yeah i understand that the terpens are gone in one or two hits...

just a vaped idea... ;)

While there are some vapes where persons have reported flavor lasting longer than others, the solution I see is a difficult one to implement. That would be vaping a little quantity at a time and adding fresh herb before each draw/hit. That way you'd still be drawing off the old herb while receiving taste from the fresh.

Just my :2c:

Fucking love that idea. How would you implement it???

How about my idea, a two chamber vape. One at users optimum temp. And a second at a much cooler temp on same air path for taste.

My idea is to have a two flat screens that can come together to form a sandwich. You place your material onto the screen, where vibration causes the material to spread evenly over the bottom screen. The screen they comes together, holding the thin later of material in place, which can be measured (weight or thickness) by the vaporizer.

Then a SS/glass nozzle with a forced air fan system or pump pushes a predetermined and temperature controlled blast of hot air over the screen and towards a mouthpiece. Then some servos or motors move the nozzle or screen in a pattern that assures every new hit is from a "fresh" untouched portion of the screen.

Just an idea, flavor would be awesome and doses could be more easily controlled.

Thanks! Would be totally vape dependent.

In the Herbalizer, small pinch. Draw. Open oven, add small pinch, draw. Keep repeating till either your session is complete or oven fills.

SSV Wand w/Arizer elbow screen, with any vape that will use the SSV Wand = vacuum up small quantity, cap with elbow screen, insert in vape and hit. Remove elbow screen, add pinch of fresh, cap with elbow screen, insert in vape and hit.

Your idea is awesome too and if the chambers could be rotated, then could add small quantity of fresh to the current cool bowl and hit, then rotate, do the same and hit.... Awesome!

Tweak! Wow! This is vaping Borg style! If I wasn't on an overly-extended TBreak, I would be able to envision such a device after reading your description.

If anyone needs me I'll be off dreaming of vape sessions and the outlawing of the TBreak!

Try the MiniVap!!

And bag fillers should have an auto stop function imo.

Herbie has an unto stop when filling bags!
Clean screens and it will fill to perfection and stop!
Wonderful for concentrates or for flowers!

thats true.... done that with my nano and it works... but as you said its difficult to do all the time...

If only there were a way for the machine to have multiple chambers for each hit. With a push of a button new tiny load. High flavor for the whole session while using the same amount. Would have to be more like a small diameter log vape so maybe a session could have 5 microbowls

EDIT: What if you had 5 barrels like a old school handgun....Load up the micro bowls. Take hits until its cached, press button/mechanically turn and it spins to the next bowl. At the end take out 5 bowl cartridge, hold over your abv container press lever which forces the bowls clean.

Flavor+convenience

And then load up each chamber with a different strain. I like this idea. There's actually a combustion pipe that uses the same concept:

but yeah i understand that the terpenes are gone in one or two hits..

This is what happens when you start the session too high of a temperature setting really. In fact most people want clouds and fast extraction and the taste suffers in the process. Even the Solo and Air on first usable temp setting are slightly too high in temperature IMHO.

On my Ascent I always start the session between 170-175°C (338-347°F) if I'm using a strain with a delicious flavor (some have a more classic skunky/weedy taste and don't deserve wasting battery for them, in which case I start at 177-185°C directly, that is 350-365°F) The flavor stays delicious until the temperature level is completely depleted, then I raise to 185°C/365°F and again get plenty of flavor for the entire level. Then when I reach 195°C/383°F and above, it starts deteriorating pretty fast, and high temperatures have a bad ABV taste usually (but you get used to it isn't it?)

Some other FC members even start at lower temperatures. But at the same time I heard many people saying anything below 185°C/365°F is useless, because well maybe they make a fixation on visible vapor exhale and feel it's too wispy? But that's a tradeoff, if you want to preserve taste you need to nurture your load and extract slowly. With my gf original FM5 that is fixed temp at 210°C the taste is indeed good for a couple of hits then deteriorates. In my FM5S starting at 195°C (blue setting) the taste is good for about 6+ hits then start to blend into something more generic, not yet ABV like in the fixed temp FM5 but something in between.

Now I made the remark in the Crafty/Mighty threads when they were released because I was really perplex and nobody was able to give me an answer: these two vapes do extract the entire load whatever the starting temperature you select and it's been confirmed by many people. Once the first level is depleted there is practically nothing left if you raise the temp afterwards or even if you put the ABV in another vape to finish it. This is not what I'm getting with any of my vapes and I wonder if it's not a reason for some of the reflections above.

But some vapes excel at extracting your load in as little time as possible (cf watertools) while others excel at giving you a long session more akin to a joint. One thing is clear though, if you want the best flavor, you need to extract slower at at a lower temp, to avoid any risk of pyrolisis. I don't think you can have both sides at once.

@Engineer hasn't been online in quite a while, so let's hope that he is diligently planning and working on our new favourite vaporizer! Recently I have discovered the LSV, and it's my new favourite vape of all time (well, maybe next to the Herbie), but it would be really awesome to have the Herbie in an LSV form factor! I just love vapes that can be inverted and work easily with a variety of glass pieces.

I can't wait for the next big thing! I'm such a vape nerd.

Anyone up for some more brainstorming? Although I love the Herbie, I have recently fallen for the Crafty and Mighty Storz & Bickel products. Would be an interesting mashup with the Herbie!
