The weird unexplainable difference between the XL and the Spectrum

VoltagesXLSpectrum
3.3BlueGreen
3.7GreenBlue
4.0RedRed

I don't understand this at all. Took me long enought to remember Blue like ice, Green like a meadow in the summer. Now they ruined my metaphor and damn it when I'm medicated I'm ALL about metaphors...

I order the battery replacement/upgrade kit for my XL. Seems to work pretty much like the XL. I keep mine on low voltage all the time. My rosin pretty much tastes the way it smells. Sure I can get more hits in row off my Versa while preserving the flavor, but in generally, tapping some rosin on the quartz coil I take two 10 ten second draws, which taste great and leave me feeling pretty good. I doubt that this is the most efficient way to consume rosin, but it works pretty well. I usually dab while I'm also vaping flower, so it's kind of hard to talk about effects for me, but it certainly does hit. It's easier to use than the 710 Labs pod pen, you can inhale longer without a burning taste.

Also, unlike the XL, it seems to always remember the temp setting. Also it takes 5 taps to change temp instead of 3. Also many times the XL would blink red when I inhaled. This is suppose to mean the battery is dead, but this could happen if I charged it, took a hit and then came back to it a day later. Even thought it would blink red, I would triple tap to change temp and it would be fine. I haven't had this problem with the spectrum... so I guess I'm happy with it.

Yeah, I am happy with the improvements in the electronics, and the USB-C connection. I m hoping they will do that for the regular sized Terp Pen as well. Hate having to keep a micro-USB cable around.

Yeah my OG Terp Pen just bit the dust. I just loaded some really good rosin on the coil ... and nothing... doens't hit even though it's been on the charger for hours. I bought that TerpPen the day it came out. So I guess it had a nice lifespan, but you're right, I hate to buy another MicroUSB unit now...

Since it is now released, I wonder if a Mod could transfer this thread out of the "unreleased" section, into the main portable vape section?

Hey I just bought a brand new terp pen spectrum. I've watched all the vids but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I can't get any air flow, Both coils have airflow but when the sleeve is screwed on there's no airflow unless it's not screwed tight but then the smoke isnt coming through just air because its not screwed in all the way. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've looked all over the internet and don't see any resolution.

Just some suggestions;
1. Do the coils get hot when the sleeve is off, and you draw pen? If not, then the coil needs to be screwed in tighter.
2. Maybe an O-ring is not seated correctly on the coil?

That's about all I can think of.

I have one of these too. I think i can help you. What you have to do, and it is not clear in any of the videos is gently unscrew your little storage compartment off. Then the remaining magnetic cover for the coil has a filter at the end of cover. After you remove the storage compartment the draw is significantly improved.

I may buy a few more of those storage caps (compartment) . They have them on sale for $6 on Boundless web site. I want to get one of each color black and silver. Maybe keep Indica in Black cap and Sativa/Hybrid in Silver.

So i don't know if anyone had come across these new coils for the i believe all of the Boundless Terp Pen devices. They are made of crushed quartz and the heating is embedded in the ceramic of the coils. I see this somewhat as a game changer for this device if you are familiar with it. No longer having to put Concentrate product directly on the coils! I really despise that now.

I have purchased these from Boundless. They are in a set of 5 for $24.99. But for me this was a Revelation! I got a nice couple of tastes of some Rosin i had was fabulous. But i have some other general observations I can share:

Terp_Pen_New_Coil_2_Transparent.png

  • This large area of ceramic takes a while to come up to temperature. The first few tokes will be wispy at best. Stick with it flavor stayed pretty consistent throughout the sesh.
  • I found i needed to raise the temp one level because of that extra mass (coils alone weigh practically nothing)
  • Because of all this extra heating and all, battery life will suffer as a result, but for me it is worth it. I no longer end up clogging my device.

With the original coil style I found it frustrating, i found it difficult to just get a bit of concentrate material on the Coil and not inundate everything and over saturate . I had bought a Pivot and as a result the Terp Pen Supreme languished. I think this will change things quite a bit for me regarding the device.

Anyone else got one of these? It seems like a good first device & even as i get more sophisticated devices the really simple solution to be appropriate at times.

I have used the crushed quartz coils for awhile, up until I got a Pivot.

These new coils are n improvement in need of improvement. I like not heating an exposed coil, but the center hole at the tip tends to suck up concentrate. With a dry sugary concentrate I've had it suck up concentrate that passed through to the bottom of the coil (where the large holes are) unheated, unvaporized.

Perhaps they could put something to keep stuff from sucking through so easily.

i got a Pivot too, & i primarily use that, but I would agree you a much needed improvement for Terp Pen so at least it has a function.

i have been very mindful of avoiding that center hole. That bottom area seems very porous and the way i really like loading up is have the working, traveling portion of my concentrates in a silicone container. I just dip the warmed up tip into the silicone & onto the tip. So far so good but i am mindful of your caution.
