Boundless CFX 2.0

Right. Something touching the material made from aluminum is completely different than the element heating it. I saw the words aluminum bowl and that's what we're talking about as I along with what looks to be a few others don't want anything aluminum touching our material.

If they can't get it to work correctly with anything other than a aluminum bowl then maybe they should rethink their design a little. I would LOVE a ceramic bowl but at this point, I'm just hoping for SS. I think vaporizers are advanced enough by now to start having what the majority wants.

This is a materials discussion about this specific vape not just materials in general. I'm hoping for a response from the manufacture or support from their area to clarify.

this is an interesting distinction that hadn't occurred to me...thanks! I don't know of any other vapes with an aluminum bowl. heat exchanger, yes, but a bowl, no. Same can be said of the use of PEEK in the CFV. Others had used it as a housing for the vape, but Boundless was the first to use it as a bowl and have it in the air path, I believe.

Mighty, both for aluminum bowl’s walls and PEEK cooling unit topping the bowl.

Could you please link the information about the bowl being aluminum in the Might and Crafty? I can't find any information on this at all.

I can not recall where I read this. It looks aluminum and S&B uses Al for capsules, so I believed bowl is also part Al.

true. and the dosing capsules are definitely aluminum, so they have done it for bowls. good stuff...thanks guys!

I would hope not since resin and shatter is acidic and can possibly cause aluminum to oxidize. I've emailed them about it. They're pretty good at getting back to people so I expect I'll hear from them soon. The capsules def are aluminum. Thanks for the heads up. most Assuredly a reason not to buy the portable.

Needless to say, not all aluminum is created equal as well. Just because one company does it does not mean you should trust another on heresay. That has gotten a lot of people into trouble.

Here's some interesting details about oxidizing and aluminum

If you would, please merge this post.

I got a response back yesterday but the answer to my question ''is the herb chamber aluminum in the mighty and crafty'', I got back

"
We are pleased to inform you that our vaporizers and accessories are made of a High temperature resistant food grade thermal polymer that is made with ABS and PEEK.

There is no BPA in any of our products.

If you have any other questions please let us know."

NEEDLESS TO SAY.... that is NOT what I asked... So again I sent another email asking...

"What metal is in the bowl the herb is held in''

I got back....

"The heat exchanger is made of Aluminum.

Thank you for your patience!"

.... is that what they call it maybe? I understand heat exchangers to be something completely different. I don't want to ask a third time so I give up. I'll just stay away from anything that says it has anything aluminum in it other than the heat source.

I don't have enough patience.

@Razor, the answer is, obviously, aluminum because if it were steel or ceramic, they would have proudly stated so. Since for many, there is a negative connotation for aluminum bowl's, they just avoided your question twice -- just like a politician -- distraction.

I gotta tell you, I wouldn't let it go. I'd reply again, saying, "for the 3rd & final time I ask you what metal the bowl (not the housing & not the heat exchanger) is made out of???" Followed by a big, "THANK YOU!" I hate when companies waste my time & give me the runaround, but I'd hate it more if I let them talk-down my level of intelligence & get away with it. It's infuriating.

Im not even a little worried about the use of an aluminum bowl.
Yeah me either I have smoked so many bong loads from an aluminum bowl that I don’t fear it at all. When I first started smoking weed there was no such thing as a glass bong bowl and all bongs came with an aluminum down stem and aluminum bowl. If you were lucky you could get a bong with a pull out bowl but they almost all used a carb hole. I’m sure me and all my friends would have serious health issues if aluminum was that bad for you.

Thats great if that works for YOU but I have to use it but for those with hypersensitivity to metal, its a different issue. When you have that then you do all you can to make sure nothing touches aluminum. It has always been and will be stainless steel or better for me and even then, I have to check it before I let my girl use it that it's 18/0. Usually I stick to ceramic.

18/0 is zero % Nickel indeed, but still 18% Chromium... and it's hardly stainless anymore as it rusts easily... so not a very good choice to be in contact with organics.

But yes, Nickel sensitivity seems by far the most common and some amount of Chromium intake is deemed safe.

Don't get me wrong, I too prefer SS over other metals. Titanium is also probably fine, but not for the heater itself.

For Aluminium it's still unclear... it's inside all of us but so far not a single living organism was found using it for metabolic purposes. Hence why some call it "bio-inert" because it has no known use, but I find that use of the term a bit far-stretched.

Correct you are! I have so much information in my head that it gets tangled and I have to re-research a bit. Chromium most certainly does leech but at a much higher sustained temperature I believe (around 800f or so) which makes it a little more safe. I had to sit through a bunch of this from a doctor for a while at once point. The info is there (if not jumbled).

iolite has an aluminum bowl... at least the first few versions of it do... I went through 5 or 6 LOL... the aluminum bowl has the little center protuberance that is a heat sink
