Bogus days, bitter aftertaste

(Should read "Bogus days" not "days"--but I am not able to edit the title.)

I was just sold a jar of something the seller said was live resin. When I got the jar open it was clearly not live resin. It was a muddy, waxy looking blob with absolutely none of the lovely terpenes of real live resin. The jar actually said "Sap" on the bottom. Upon dabbing it, it had a very weak effect and left a weird, bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

Clearly it was a ripoff, but Is this stuff toxic?

How would anyone here know? It sure doesn't sound good. Personally I wouldn't use it especially inhaling it. The danger is if it wasn't purged of solvents properly.
