Those types of thin plastic bags are fairly permeable. The humidity transfers through.

Yeah, just don’t like the idea of any plastic sealed in my containers. Don’t even like the nylon mesh bags I’m using, but since they were designed to work inside of aquariums, hopefully there is no plastic out gassing.
Then again, I’m NOT A FISH!

I usually have a multi-pound stash and right now, 15 different strains. I have some pot that's 3 years old and still fine.

I simply use 1/2 gallon Ball jars with about 1 ounce in each. This fills it only about half way. Then I use a vacuum lid thingy to vacuum seal them. Been doing this for many decades and it has never failed me.

Good Morning Y'all. Looking into purchasing a new stash jar - currently have the herb guard from amazon, but I agree with some reviews that it isn't worth the money. The lid is plastic, and for a permanent stash solution I would not want that. What do you guys currently use?

This week I've been vaping on some sativa defrosted from it's long sleep in the freezer. It looks, smells and medicates just like it did when I bagged it, more than 3 years ago. If there has been losses they aren't huge and it's far better for taste than stuff I have left at room temp for just 12 months. So if you know it will be a long time before it's going to be consumed don't be afraid to freeze.

For long-term storage, 2 oz per quart Mason jar with 62 % Boveda and a couple oxygen-eater packets works for me in a cool small refrigerator set to warmest setting (not off).

I've been using C-Vaults (Medium and Large sizes) with Boveda moisture control packs (62%) for a while now, and that has worked very well for at least 6-9 months so far.

I assume that Mason jars with Boveda (or similar moisture control packs) is perfectly fine. I got the C-Vaults because I like 1) the wide-mouth bowl size opening to reach into, 2) the stainless steel because it's harder to break than glass, and 3) it keeps light out rather than glass, which doesn't. Also, the slot in the lids to hold the moisture control packs instead of having to leave them touching the herb is nice as well.

Other than Mason jars, another great container to consider is Jyarz. They make amazing airtight containers that are glass-lined, with an outer plastic shell made from recycled milk jugs that protects the glass, and the lid has a silicon disk that seals off the glass for an airtight seal. They recently came out with larger size that competes with the C-Vaults and Jars in the sizes us average users would need. Before I buy more C-Vaults, I'll probably buy a couple of their Big Papis.

The issue with freezing will depend of the initial wetnesss of ur herbs.
Too wet and water cristalisation will fuck her a bit...

Lucky for me I live in a humid area and have to use a dehydrator, so it was probably very dry when I froze. Good to know because I plan to freeze more. Cheers.

Brittling is not really a problem, or as much as collecting kief in your grinder.
But not inside plastic bag.. off course..

My plan is simpler : decided to give my extra weed to my stepbrother. He's a great guy and gave me and my wife a lot when he was growing. Now I'm growing and he doesn't, I can pay my debts.

I believe vacuum sealing is the key, completely changed everything for me after years of storing in regular Ball jars with Boveda packs. I use a cheap vacuum sealer with plastic bags, I started this in January and all the seals have held. 1 standard bag holds about an ounce. I recently opened 2 bags after about 4 months and they smelled just like when they were harvested and dried, no flavor degradation at all. I find that most bud stored in glass jars completely loses its original flavor in less than 6 months, I hope this new method will buy me months of extra time, which also means that I don't have to grow as often.

there was a study not long ago testing cannabis from a jar that had been sitting on a shelf in a lit room 5 years ... exprected to find CBN and other degradated cannabsi compounds but the tests showed it as the same as the original tests were 5 years before . no change at all ... just mentioning that as light does not effect those as much as we thionk ... I mean cannabinoids are sort of Tree sap with a Terpene too

I think there are so many factors, gonna be hard to convince me by a single test.

While I cannot speak in terms of potency, as I have no precise way of testing, I would argue that light does in fact degrade aesthetics and taste. In my experience, the same buds in a light exposed environment, will loose their color faster (sun-bleaching?) and turn from greens to more yellowish and sometimes shades of brown. The flavor goes bad real fast at this point.

Sunlight I would avoid. But an intermittent weak electric light ? For long term storage, temps fluctuations when opening the door might have more influence.

There are lots of ways to store bud, I just keep mine in sealed mason jars that are kept in a closed cabinet which sets a cool place in my basement.

In canada it will be easy, but don't freeze except if u want to make ice-olator.
Even more if she not well dried, The h20 will just fucked up the taste with state change.
Between 10/15C, no light, glass/ceramiq jar, point .

But 4 months, for commercial bud, it will not even be well dried/cured.. so room temp, no light, even unsealed jar if she's too fresh

i do the big jar to medium (in wine cellar/fridge) to ceramiq pot (weekly ammount) . The less u open the jar, the more u can store them

Wide mouth mason jar and Boveda for 6 to 12 months...longer you might want to vacuum seal and oxygen absorb packets as well (they are cheap compared to buying pot!).

What about if you are using the packaging that it came in from Ontario cannabis store? Open and close, after 6 months should you throw out what remains to avoid inhaling mold etc?
