Best portable for my needs (Outdoor/hiking)

So I have an evo for flower and a few enails for concentrates as well as a mod that recently stopped working with a TAF sai. I also have various pod and cart systems for extracts on the go but honestly they leak and are finicky and I don’t like having to thin my extracts. I plan on purchasing a terp pen for the warner months to have something to use with extracts while I’m out (heat makes carts n pods leak). But I’ve been thinking about getting a portable for herb because I’ve just been smoking joints to fill that void. Something really draws me to the dynavap but I really hate those little jet lighters, they never last for me. I want something sturdy (doesn’t have be bulletproof but nothing super fragile like the elev8er or mobius fp), that can easily be used with glass pieces, delivers thick vapor (still stuck on that I know it’s trivial but I like to whitewall the glass, wispy hits are unsatisfying), has at least decent flavor. Flower is very cheap where I live so I don’t care how efficient it is as long as it extracts throughly which most of the heavy hitters do. The ones that keep catching my attention are the dynavap, crafty/mighty, IQ, pax 3, sticky brick, and MV1. I’m not as familiar with the cheaper models but am very interested as there’s a good chance whatever I buy is gonna get put through the ringer and I’d rather not destroy a $200+ device. I have avoided cheaper vapes for years after some horrible experiences a while back (poor vapor production/quality, total device failures, plastic smell/taste, terrible battery life). Any suggestions or recommendations are very welcome.

Not in the slightest. Chances are I’m gonna be hitting it out of a glass rig or bong so no mater what it’s probably not going to be discreet haha

Also I just remembered the butane powered hammer vaporizer and looked it up and it’s only $35 so that’s definitely another contender.

I'm a fan of the Mighty but I think a Vapcap nonaVong would work well for the usage you describe.

A $35 VG coil might work for you. It drops right into an 18mm joint and can be used with either a little jet lighter or (my preferred method) a regular ol' bic lighter. Oh, and it's virtually indestructible to boot.

Pax 2 or 3 is most "like" smoking a joint by far, without the combustion. No body dislikes a pax 2 or 3. Water resistant. Just toss a nugget in with no grinding. Pack tight. Downside is cleaning, you should do it fairly often or it becomes a bit of a chore. I have 3 or 4 laying around. Best, most discreet, battery run portable for simulating smoking a joint

I think you should look at a Lil Bud classic.

No glass to break, no screen to read in the sun/shade just a stem, medicine, and the unit and you are all set.
If going out for a whole day, maybe some extra batteries.

You say at the top that you want something for outdoor/hiking, but then you say "Chances are I’m gonna be hitting it out of a glass rig or bong" which is not something you'd bring along on a hike...unless you're crazy or angling for laughs. I'm an avid outdoorsperson--hiking, xc skiing, biking, snowshoeing, birding, etc. I own two modest homes, one on a wild stretch of coast and the other in the mountains. I love my several Dynavapes, but butane vapes are worthless in the wind and battery packs/induction heaters are way to heavy to carry. Larger heavier vapes are also just too much to carry. Its also hard to reload flower in any sort of breeze, so I have found dosing capsules essential for my outdoor adventures.

So vapes that are compact, reasonably light, and have dosing caps are my primary criteria, with reliability up there too. I've found two now three vapes that work for my outdoor adventures: S-B Crafty, HR Fury2, and the new POTV One. I've used my Fury2 almost daily for 18 months now for my daily outdoor adventure. It heats up very fast, doesn't take up much room in my packs, is convenient to reload with the dosing caps, and is almost amazingly reliable in the wild conditions I love and it still heats up fast after all these months. POTV One appears to be the same as the F2, but who knows what battery was used or how much attention was paid to health and safety, for both of which the HRs get high marks. Increasing the temp on the F2 gives great hits. Only down side is that after five or six loads, it needs to be recharged with no battery change option. And its available for just $109 right now.

For outdoor hiking, I would think that you want something very sturdy but also would want one that has replaceable batteries being that the very last thing that you would want is to have your vape run out of juice. This would leave out some of the ones mentioned previously like the POTV ONE, the Fury 2, the Pax and the Crafty. The VapCaps would be a good choice but then you have to worry about dealing with the wind.
The Solo 2, even though it doesn't have user replaceable batteries, does have great battery life........one of the longest of any portable on the market if not THE longest.

Check out the Fierce. Big bowl, replaceable batteries, USB-C charging, and importantly for your hiking application you can use the black plastic mouthpiece when you want to pocket it (less bulky than the Mighty for that although not much lighter) and then opt to use the bent glass stem or wpa at home for better flavor.

If you're just hiking for a day and not camping then the Fury 2 fits the bill being super portable and quick to rip. Battery life is poor but you could throw a small power bank in your bag just in case. Plus it's under a hundred bucks at puffitup now with code PUFFEDUP. The PIU dudes are always hiking with their portables and the Fury 2 and Fierce seem to do okay judging by their Instagram streams from the mountains.

I've been a big fan of the IQ. It works. But, the parts are a little finicky and it is near impossible to clean. Once you use it, you will need to spend more time than average in maintenance to have "decent flavor". Even then, I don't think in the time I've had mine, I've gone through the full process enough to bring it back like new-ish. [

With the Solo II, switching a stem cleans the vape--completely. (As long as you have a clean stem, of course.)

I buy a lot of small cheap pieces to take hiking or on other outdoor activities, and at $30 or less a piece breaking one really isn’t a big deal at all. My friend thinks it’s silly I’ll lug a bong to the top of a waterfall but it’s kinda like bringing a picnic up there haha. And where I live (Oregon) I don’t really have to worry about bothering others with the smoke or vape I just keep my distance and be respectful.

I’m kinda digging the low price points of the POTV1/F2 and the fierce. honestly I’ve used a solo (the original I think) and the vapor production just isn’t there from me. Too wispy but then again I wasn’t as familiar with vaping last time I used one and it was an old model. The SB mighty or crafty or maybe even ghost MV1 would be my dream vape bot this situation I’m just hesitant to drop that kinda money

I have a Fury 2 that I use with the POTV One accessory mouthpiece and capsules and it's a great combo! For backpacking/camping, though, I use my vapcaps so I don't need to worry about battery power.

My personal vape for outside and hiking use is a grindhouse shift/fury. I can take 5 fully loaded capsules with me and it fits easily in my pocket. Its $65 not sure why yall are recommending a mighty as its 250+$ and if you hike like I do, sometimes you end up in the rain or out in the snow. I can do with breaking a cheap portable but a mighty is wayyyy too much money. Fully prepared to get torn a new arsehole because everyone has a hard on for the Mighty.

I'm in New Mexico which is super windy and use a butane torch + Dynavape on my hikes.

I used my Vapman and VapCaps at the Atlantic coast during quite heavy winds too. It's possible and butane the only way to go for longer outdoor activities imho

I love the SOLO since it’s functional ?

It taste good and the effect is perfect 4-some?

Not the smallest however it’s awesome 4-some!
